This is not painful at all for all the worriers commenting. The needle is for intradermal use so it's tiny. The reason for the bump is because the bevel (opening) of the needle is face up and the protein is injected directly under the skin so it causes a little bubble to form. The only thing to worry about is the results of the test (significant no doubt) but not about pain. Hope that helps :)

PPD is not a big deal at all. You can see in the vid that the tip of the needle doesn't even go all the way through the skin. Just underneath it a little. I am terrified of needles and this isn't bad at all. Pinching yourself in the arm hurts worse. And yes, it is normal to bleed a little bit at the injection site.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. x-rays were neg and everything but the doctor put me on a medication for 9 months to ensure that it wont happen. But you can be exposed to Tb anywhere. From walmart to the train station. You could even be exposed to someone who was also exposed to it. It might never make you really 'have' tb, but its really nothing as long as your chest x-rays come out neg.
It's only an intradermal injection so there will be very little pain. It's only a pinch and you really can't tell if you don't look. I get them for my job. Just don't rub the "raised" area where the TB is.
i just got one and im only 12 it doesn't hurt at all. Just take a deep breath. Thats what u dud. I had to get 5 shots on the same day and this was one of them. Not so bad. and im only 12!
well, having a small needle jabbed into ur skin to detect a virus early is better than having your entire chest jabbed out for operation. this is so much better, even though its super creepy. think of it positively when u take the test (= i just got one and i freaked at the shining of the long needle

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. x-rays were neg and everything but the doctor put me on a medication for 9 months to ensure that it wont happen. But you can be exposed to Tb anywhere. From walmart to the train station. You could even be exposed to someone who was also exposed to it. It might never make you really 'have' tb, but its really nothing as long as your chest x-rays come out neg.

It's only an intradermal injection so there will be very little pain. It's only a pinch and you really can't tell if you don't look. I get them for my job. Just don't rub the "raised" area where the TB is.

ok, so the stuff if injected under your skin. what happens then? how does(n't) it prove if you have TB?

If you already have the defensive cells (you've had contact with tuberculosis) to fight it, it will react and swell. If not nothing happens.

I'd be screaming if I got a TB test, a shot, or a vaccine. Doctor, stop! Me screaming about shots reminded me of Home Alone 1 and 2. You regret this!

i just got one and im only 12 it doesn't hurt at all. Just take a deep breath. Thats what u dud. I had to get 5 shots on the same day and this was one of them. Not so bad. and im only 12!

tb tests aren't that bad at all since the fluid is only being injected into the top layer of your skin, not under the skin

well, having a small needle jabbed into ur skin to detect a virus early is better than having your entire chest jabbed out for operation. this is so much better, even though its super creepy. think of it positively when u take the test (= i just got one and i freaked at the shining of the long needle
