  • Can you tell Ezra Pound verse from a ridiculous parody?

A Google search for "Poetry or parody" will bring you the quiz.

  • If your familiar with imagism and Pound I'm sure you've read William Carlos Williams.

  • Ezra Pound is very deep.

  • Thanks, I don't know if I have gotten any of them. Could you send them again? I must admit that I haven't spent much time on youtube these days.

  • Andrew that was realy infotmative Thankyou and 5 stars.

I have sent you 3 video responmses consisting og my virtual movies of Ezra Pound reading his poems.

    Kind Regards

    Jim Clark

  • Great video. He's a big influence on my songs. THis was very informative. Also, it shows how modern he is...many people copyed this kind of style.

  • Absolutely. But I think what is more striking is the influence he had on some of his contemporaries. T.S. Eliot, for instance, "The Wasteland" would not be what it is save Mr. Pound.

  • Greetings from Germany,

I'm just preparing for my final exams at university (though I should rather search for WCW for that purpose...) and found your video.

Thanks for that and I would really like to see you talking about other poets if you found the time!

  • I will. I am glad you enjoyed it. Good luck on your exams.

  • This was great. I have exactly the same fascination with Pound and poetry. Have you read any Charles Olson? Speaking of difficult!

  • No I haven't! But it sounds like I should. Where should I start?

  • Olson is best known for his epic "The Maximus Poems", a 635 page work in the tradition of the Cantos or the Divine Comedy or The Iliad. But before you attempt that, seek out his shorter poems to get a sense of his phrasing, particularly "The Kingfishers" and "In Cold Hell, In Thicket". You should also check out his "Projective Verse" essay if you can find it, but buckle up. Olson can be baffling at times but once you get the big bastard in you, he stays. Have fun!

  • Thanks for the tip. I will definitely take your advice.

  • oh ezra now long dead disgraced you bred a million grad school faces with all the grad school graces they speak not of your life best left unsaid idea behind it? underneath the poverty that made rockefeller rich and brought you to grief
  • awesome. is that your own?

  • OMG! THIS IS SO AMAZING! me and my friend have a huge school project on imagism and this really really helped us figure out all our stuff. we have to do a whole lesson on imagism and this was really helpful. you are our hero! yayy thank you.

  • you are welcome :)

  • I'm impress and I really admire and enjoy your work my respect to you

  • wow. Someone has pound reading just moments of his work posted on youtube-the user is a84grn.

  • thanks!

  • Very good. I love Ezra. Even though I don't always know what he's talking about I love his use of wlanguage, unlike Dylan Thomas who I just find to be nonsensical and unenjoyable.

  • I agree with you completely and have said similar things in past.

  • Two thumbs up for this video. They have the book in my local library and I'm gonna borrow it next week because it sounds very interesting. It's called "Lukemisen aakkoset" in Finnish :-D

  • Sweet, I hope you enjoy it.

I neglected to mention that the poems where from a collection entitled 'Personae.'
