  • I saw this guy & bike at the texas mile in March this year- the day i was there he DNF'ed and EVERYONE wanted to see that thing fly

  • Can anyone tell me why you would put cloth round the downpipes?

    Thanks

  • @simonfb10 so you dont burn your legs. its heat wrap

  • @simonfb10 heat scavenging

  • @simonfb10 It keeps you from burning your leg, but also some exhaust pipes are not chrome, and the wrap actually makes them look better.

  • Im no expert but if made custom pipes.I would think I would have a computerized pipe bender of some kind.thats alot of junk to hang on that scoot. I know cosmetics arent that important?

  • I've been wondering for a while.... I've heard both sides but I havent seen any evidence: Which produces more power? A 2-1 exhaust system or straight pipes?

  • a 2-1 pipe merges the exhaust pulse and crates "harmonic backpressure" between exhaust strokes - thus creating more torque. - straight pipes "flow" better but in most cases you loose bottom end power.

on my drag bike we run a 2 into 1 straight pipe that is 2" at the head - and the end of the pipe (where both are merged) is 3.5"

  • Dear Latanea, you sounded very knowledgeable. from your logic, i'd say the straight pipes offer better high end/top speed power. would that be right sir ?

  • depends on what kind of power you are concerned with -

a 2:1 = better torque on a given motor - and a 2:2 straight pipe (might) offer better hp above the torque curve depending on design.

  • ok, in that case. stright pipes is the way to go then. thanks for the reply.

  • I know your comment is kind of old, but a 2 into 1 exhaust will USUALLY yield more power for mostly stock bikes. With straight pipes, it depends on length, straight pipes usually yield more power with high compression and most drag bikes, that are needing to flow very high amounts of exhaust gasses, and don't need to rely on small amounts of backpressure for torque.2-1 pipes have always looked silly to me though, and in my opinion, straight pipes sound better also.

  • So the heat wrap is not for any benefit for the engine?

  • yes - it keeps the radiant heat away from the engine - and also keeps the ambient air around the motor cooler (cooler air getting sucked into the motor = denser charge = more power)

  • run more talk less

  • Bad ass bike, I love it!

  • that's great!

    but...

vrsc (h-d porsche) models get to 235 hp...

also they re one of the greatest drag bikes ever!

  • The VRSC is a great engine. Our bike was a punched up CCI engine. It became a test bed for our Harley exhaust systems.

  • nice exhausts men...really good 2 on one system...nice upgrade and of course that's a hell of a nice job

  • @bmptxhd also porsche did not build or have anything with the engineering they only helped develop it

  • i want the 7:44 seconds of my life back

  • I grant you 7 minutes back.

  • guess he won't be watching "Worlds Fastest Indian" anytime soon :) ha ha ha

  • too bad there's no video of the bike doing what it was designed to do. too much talk!

  • Bonneville was such a challenge. The team waited in line and because of the rain, delays and rough salt they were not able to make the record runs.

  • I have D&D Fatcats, 2 in 1 on my Softail, great pipes!!!

  • Glad you like the pipes!

  • Neet Bike, I saw it at the Texas Mile. I had my record holding production Harley there also, going over 150MPH

What dates will you be at Bonneville, and are you going to the Texas Mile in March?
