I like to have the door on and adjusted prior to removing the old quarter so I have a good reference point to line up the new quarter. I dont worry about having the front fender on because it is adjusted to fit the door.
hey nick how goes it? Im still watching your videos as referance to what to do lol and i just finished putting in the driverside outer rocker panel and man it was a pain haha but im going to do the quarterpanels next and i was wounder what is the best way or the way you would go about installing them? the quarter panels are the full complete ones for the driver and passenger side and i have a tail pan a roof panel and a window to trunk panel but im not exactly sure in what order i should go
thanks again for the measurements. Second, I have watched your videos and have to ask, which way would you reccomend on repacing the quarters, skins or full quarters? Thanks again and keep the videos coming, looking forward to the competiin for your SS.
IMHO the skins are a bit easier to make them fit and you can retain all the factory gaps which is really nice, but the full quarters are a better quality repair once you can work out all the gap issues.
I hope this helps & thanks for the kind words. Nick...(Rarerat)
Nice car!! I'm starting on my first 68 camaro... Don't know anything about restoration but I'm giving it a try let's see what happens!!! What kind of welder do you use????
Thanks & good luck with your 68 Camaro restoration. The best advice I could give is just take your time and enjoy the process. I use a Lincoln 180 Mig welder. I really like it & It is not real expensive welder, but it will weld about anything I would ever want to.
Looking at those pictures from the past. You took care of your Camaro. Lucky enough to be able to keep it! I had a 1967 Camaro..It was cared for when I had it. Sold it to a kid who totalled it in the 80's..
Thank you, I have always tried to do right by the car and have been wanting to do a full resto for about 15 years now. Somehow, it just always seemed like it was put on the back burner so I could do other cars.
My Dad always preached to hang onto it because it was my first car, but honestly I never once ever wanted to part with it, I have far to many good memory's in the car.
I am sorry to hear about your 67, unfortunately that happens all to often.
about installing them in and should i have the doors and fenders on when i do put them in? thanks and cant wait for your next video ~ bill
