Man, it just sucks to watch these games. It seems like our last win in 06 was hundreds of years ago. Clemson always beats us and it hurts. I remember when we won in 06 I really didn't brag to much, but damn when we lost last year everyone was texting me telling me how they whooped our ass. actually it's the opposite. clemson hangs their season on it and therefore they take care of business. the only reason bowden kept his job and swinney was given the job is because they beat south carolina. they know a win over south carolina means job security. both holtz and spurrier didn't and don't take the rivalry seriously enough and therefore get beaten regularly. those are the facts.

if swinney wouldn't have beaten south carolina he wouldn't have gotten the job. you are right about saving money because bowden was owed so much but the AD should be held accountable for giving him a brand new contract the year before he was fired. if clemson keeps hiring coaches like bowden and swinney they will be 7-6 every year at best. but, if swinney beats south carolina and goes 6-6 he will keep his job.

I get what you're saying but it's not a meaningless rivalry. There's a lot of talent in South Carolina that these two teams fight for. The winner of this game annually has a big advantage in recruiting, given that these two teams recruit a lot of the same players. Also, there's a lot of bad blood in this rivalry.

You will find that almosr all videos of Clemson and other schools use SC as a highlight video. They have an aweful football team now and all troughout history. Clemson owns SC and they do not consider it a big rivalry like the people at SC and the state media.
