Anyway, I have no idea what "kastros" you refer to. In greek, "kastro" comes from the spanish word "castro", meaning "castle". I think I had Jews=Kastros in my head because there are "kastros" here in the US that have a bunch of Jewish people there. But, I'm just a stupid American tourist trash boy that didn't know jack about Greece until I left...

there were no jews in kalamata before ww2 and there are none today either.

Here's one that all the Greek's "liked": Kalamata is boring and it sucks...
That's what I thought when I visited there a year ago in the winter but I know better now.
Hopefully, the next time I come to Kalamata, the weather will be much much warmer and there will be more people to party party party with!
