another example how the gop is against individuals liberties..they are against the aclu...phoney ass so called religious people.. god cares more about what you do not what you say.. gop .. satans party
I love Rachel Maddow I trust her to give us all the facts. Now if someone could please explain What does being Normal really mean? And who are these people and how do they or us know that they are normal?
@TheWingedunicorn I would advise against trusting anyone in the media to give you -all- the facts. I like Rachel, but I acknowledge that she usually has a dog in whatever fight she's reporting on. That said, she doesn't hide that fact either, and is generally pretty reasonable.
I think she basically had this argument in the bag when she brought in a former Republican spokesperson on this issue of Gay Rights. And the republican basically went against his own party in saying that Gay Rights will eventually happen.
When I see stuff like this in American politics and the media I am so, so grateful to live in Canada. One of my close friends is gay and a teacher; he is the sweetest and most harmless person I know. I can't tell you how shocking it is for me to see some idiot like DeMint who would argue against someone's right to teach based solely on their sexuality. It seems in America, bigotry is power. Thanks Rachel Maddow
@ArmadilloBand And thank YOU for not being a hateful bigot.
You hit the nail right on the head..there isn't a DAY that goes by that I'm not SO thankful and appreciative to be Canadian(minus the whole Harper thing ofcourse).Whether it's healthcare, gay rights, civil liberties, social programs, tight banking regulations, gun control...etc, I'm SO grateful to Pearson,Trudeau,Chretien and Tommy Douglas and now, Jack Layton for shaping Canada. Let's hope Harper doesn't do TOO much damage.
@ArmadilloBand And btw, I'm a left-wing democratic-socialist/social-democrat/civil-libertarian &I support the NDP (& proud). The funny thing is that the US Dems are called "the left" when in reality if they ever governed here, theyd be considered right-wing lol. Up here in Canada, I'm centre-left to left-wing, whereas I'm SURE in the states I'd be considered a radical extreme far-left communist. I'm SO glad we have a REAL left-wing here& that more than 70%of Canadians are left-of-centre.
@ArmadilloBand I actually think it's a good thing Harper's in right now because just like with the Mulroney era, when he's done destroying this wonderful country, people will, just like with Mulroney, wake up and realize what needs to be done. It's too bad the public has such short-term memories, because when you look back, history is just repeating. We always go right-wing majority for a (...cont'd..)
@ArmadilloBand short time here (causing the SAME talk about how the Grits "have been decimated forever") , realize how awful it is, then give it back to the left, except maybe this time it will be the NDP instead of the Liberals (which is fine by me, because I feel that after Trudeau and Chretien, the Grits moved too rightward- ESPECIALLY with that awful Ignatieff, whom, as awful as he is and as much as I disliked him, I would have STILL taken over Harper.) Wish we could resurrect Trudeau lol
@ArmadilloBand Yeah our political system is filled with all kinds of nut jobs and bigots. I just glad that Angle, Palladino, and ODonnell all lost their bids.
Rachel is great at exposing the hypocrites on the right and on the left. She has exposed ODonnell for the moron that she is. Could a mouse's brain DNA have been implanted in Christine's brain?
She says that some Republicans say that their current strategy is "vaguely Libertarian," as though Libertarians are really into "liberty" and freedom, but a lot of Libertarians are just as bad as Republicans when it comes to being fundamentalist Christian and anti-gay and all the rest.
How sad that a measurement of republican desperation is how much they go after the gays. What's even sadder is that there are people stupid enough to follow their "lead" like baby birds or a stupid dog chasing a bone. Repbublicans are too stupid to be a viable enemy in most societies yet we are dealing with their re-run antics yet again. We must look beyond un-electing them. We must destroy the party and bury it for good this time around. By any means necessary.
@callouschristian I think it's the other way around, unfortunately. It's people's bigotry toward homosexuals that fuels these politicians - incidentally, all of whom I think genuinly believe what they say when it comes to that. It really is sad.
@BadLuck765 I don't think people are as naturally bigoted as you imply. If they were, there would be no need for all the fear-mongering about "curing gays" and "homosexual brainwashing," as if telling kids not to pick on those that are different is gonna turn them into dyed-in-the-wool gays and lesbians.
I can't even believe any of this - it's the 21st century. Has humanity learned nothing from the past two thousand years of misery and shameless ignorance? I love this reporter. Great report but very hard to watch as it sheds light on so many kooks running for office. God help America.

Ironic that these rabbis are applauding a speech that calls for the exclusion of a minority.

@infowazz A person's looks have nothing to do with how valid their viewpoint is. Make a better point.
