Mary and Joseph had children after the birth of Christ. The Bible also mentions Jesus' half siblings. We are free to believe that Mary didn't remain a virgin her whole life. She was officially married to Joseph. Marriage denotes a relationship with procreative intent. I think that Catholics believe that Mary remained a virgin her whole life. They believe that in order for Jesus to be perfect, Mary had to be perfect (free from original sin).

I have found that Mormonism is true. I find happiness in keeping the commandments, in doing volunteer work for my church, and in continually learning and progressing. If you don't see the overall purpose that the church and its leaders serve or if you see greed at the top, then you're missing something. I see great purpose being served not just in humanitarian efforts, but also in helping people to find salvation through Christ, and in helping people live happier and healthier lives.
I believe that it's important to note that this scripture refers to the atonement, and Christ's unique role in bringing salvation to man through His sacrifice and resurrection. Christ has always run His church and has generally spoken to mankind via prophets (except during His own physical appearances on earth). Additionally, we have a personal direct line of communication with God through prayer.
This is not saying that salvation comes through Joseph Smith's power. He will be one of the angels guarding the gates of Heaven (or a delegated sentinel/judge). His life was spent in similitude and as a testament to the truthfulness of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
We honor him much like we honor great historical presidents of the US or other prophets found in the scriptures. Mormons only recognize Christ as our Savior and author of our salvation.
I think the key to our differences in understanding that scripture is the term "Mediator". In context of the chapter, v.3-6, Christ atones for man, without which, no man can enter Heaven – and with which, man can enter (the simple answer). God gave mankind to Christ. Christ cleans us up, prepares us, inspects us, and then presents us back to the Father. Angels serve Christ in that process. God gets the glory, and the leftover scraps go to outer darkness where there is no glory.

If you look at the history of any church and the flawed nature of its leaders and members, you'll never find the "perfect" church. Man is imperfect. So are you. God sent His Son to earth to atone for man, He did not send Himself. This is doctrine found in the New and Old Testaments of the Bible. To whom did Christ pray in the garden of Gethsemane? If Christ was on earth, and a portion of God was in Heaven to whom Jesus prayed, then you have to believe that they can be separate beings who are one in purpose.

LDS people also make the distinction between spirit (as in school spirit), spirit (as in ghost), spirit (as in influence of the God Head, etc), and Spirit (as in the personage of Holy Ghost). I also believe that God and Jesus have their own resurrected, immortal physical bodies.

Here's a theoretical question for you. If a man could kill someone, and then bring them back from the dead, would they still be considered a murderer when it's over? If someone regrets a decision, and can't fix it on their own, can they find forgiveness? Can someone erase or completely fix the problem in their behalf? Repentance and Christ can reach beyond the grave.
You might want to clarify that members of the LDS church are baptized for and in behalf of these people. This in no way interferes with the agency or rights of the dead. People who have passed on and are now spirits can accept or reject a baptism done in their behalf.
If the religion is false, then you can have a good chuckle about it in the afterlife. If it's true, and you didn't have a chance to be baptized in this life, then you can accept our work for you.

In fact, church leaders have officially said that the Biblical account is an adequate description of the event. When I had this question, a church general authority told me in a personal conversation that the experience Mary had should be kept with the utmost reverence regardless of the method used to create a baby in Mary's womb. Mary and Joseph had children after the birth of Christ. The Bible also mentions Jesus' half siblings. We are free to believe that Mary didn't remain a virgin her whole life. She was officially married to Joseph. Marriage denotes a relationship with procreative intent. I think that Catholics believe that Mary remained a virgin her whole life. They believe that in order for Jesus to be perfect, Mary had to be perfect (free from original sin).

The LDS church teaches that Catholicism emerged/evolved from true Christianity within a few hundred years after Christ's resurrection. So, you could call Mormonism a separate protestant movement based on its doctrine of the Great Apostasy. Mormonism teaches that prophets have preached Christ and His doctrine since Adam. IOW Christianity was the first religion, which has been lost and then reestablished multiple times throughout history via dispensations. Mormons are Christians.

I have found that Mormonism is true. I find happiness in keeping the commandments, in doing volunteer work for my church, and in continually learning and progressing. If you don't see the overall purpose that the church and its leaders serve or if you see greed at the top, then you're missing something. I see great purpose being served not just in humanitarian efforts, but also in helping people to find salvation through Christ, and in helping people live happier and healthier lives.

I believe that it's important to note that this scripture refers to the atonement, and Christ's unique role in bringing salvation to man through His sacrifice and resurrection. Christ has always run His church and has generally spoken to mankind via prophets (except during His own physical appearances on earth). Additionally, we have a personal direct line of communication with God through prayer.

This is not saying that salvation comes through Joseph Smith's power. He will be one of the angels guarding the gates of Heaven (or a delegated sentinel/judge). His life was spent in similitude and as a testament to the truthfulness of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
We honor him much like we honor great historical presidents of the US or other prophets found in the scriptures. Mormons only recognize Christ as our Savior and author of our salvation.

In regard to needing Joseph's "Permission" to enter Heaven (Celestial Kingdom) let me ask you what this passage of Scripture says to you.
1 Timothy 2:5

Saying that Joseph (or St. Peter for that matter) stands between me and God directly conflicts with what is written in Paul's letter to Timothy.

I think the key to our differences in understanding that scripture is the term "Mediator". In context of the chapter, v.3-6, Christ atones for man, without which, no man can enter Heaven – and with which, man can enter (the simple answer). God gave mankind to Christ. Christ cleans us up, prepares us, inspects us, and then presents us back to the Father. Angels serve Christ in that process. God gets the glory, and the leftover scraps go to outer darkness where there is no glory.

Some of what you consider sick, may be holy - and some of what you consider holy may be sick to others. God sent His Son to earth to atone for man, He did not send Himself. This is doctrine found in the New and Old Testaments of the Bible. To whom did Christ pray in the garden of Gethsemane? Who called Christ His son at Christ's baptism? Christ is the LIFE and LIGHT of the world, and our advocate before the Father.
If Christ was on earth, and a portion of God was in Heaven to whom Jesus prayed, then you have to believe that they can be separate beings who are one in purpose.

LDS people also make the distinction between spirit (as in school spirit), spirit (as in ghost), spirit (as in influence of the God Head, etc), and Spirit (as in the personage of Holy Ghost). I also believe that God and Jesus have their own resurrected, immortal physical bodies.

Here's a theoretical question for you. If a man could kill someone, and then bring them back from the dead, would they still be considered a murderer when it's over? You might want to clarify that members of the LDS church are baptized for and in behalf of these people. This in no way interferes with the agency or rights of the dead. People who have passed on and are now spirits can accept or reject a baptism done in their behalf.
