I´m trying to become a goalkeeper. However, my position on free kicks and penalties doesn´t seem to be very good. What should i do? Wait to see the trajectory of the ball or guess it?
Hey, I'm 18 and try to learn to dive. I've never had a gaolkeepertraining. I have one main problem. I think I dont know how to land in a good way. I try to land on my upperleg first, then hip, then shoulder, but my hips always hurt after a few dives. Does anyone have any tips for me?
i was wondering if in matches you have to tape your wrists, cause while goalkeepinh i broke it and i dont know if taping it will make it better. if yes then what kind of tape?
ive broken my wrist twice playing football along with many other bones, when i broke it i just took it steady. i done 15mins of football to get it stronger. dont take pain killers because then you know when you are doing too much and you will not substain long term damage. just try and keep moving it, put a tubi-grip on or a bandage. Hope this helps, get better soon (Y)
My coach taught me to "break the fall with the ball" and to never land on your elbow because it'll mess your whole arm/shoulder up. your body will just get used to diving and it should be fine. If you're landing without the ball, palm the ground a little with your lower hand and with your arm bent as if you were to do a push up, and then roll out the dive like a barrel roll.
@thegreatgonzo112 it'll depend on what type of dive you're trying to do. Low saves (ie: ball rolling or skipping as in the video) you'll want to use your power step to get as low as possible and slide along your thigh and forearms, it shouldn't hurt at all. As far as mid-high saves go, Japan01GK has it right, but there's no way to make it stop hurting. Just realize that in a game situation adrenaline will keep it from hurting until after the match, so to train you have to be in a match mindset.

the first low save from the man in blue is "most ideal form" all of the other saves however are perfectly fine...

Sounds like you're doing it right. Try to get some keepers pants or shorts with the hip pads
