So what do you think should I go for? 5 maybe? My first raquet was a babolat aero strike and that was often coming off my hand (maybe because it was slighlty head heavy?)
My current is a Head Speed MP 315 and that never goes off my hand, maybe cause it's 6pt head light. But this racquet has cause me golfer's elbow (inside of the elbow). Somebody said it's because I'm not relaxed on impact. Well I know my tecqnique needs some work! So what should I do?
I would appreciate your help. I've been playing for 3 years now and even if I always thought it was too small for me I have been using size 4 (4 1/2) with overgrip. I thought it can't be that I need the max available (5/8) as I'm not that tall & I thought if I need 5 then what do tall guys use?! (I'm 1.82m or 5.11-6'')).
I am going to buy a new racquet now so I was revisiting the grip size and found your video and method with the ruler. So I measured it and for me this distance is 5 1/8!
1. I'm 13 years old teenager, and when i use second technology my lenght is 12 cm. Am i doing something wrong? Because 12 cm Is very big hand, i think so.
2. Are all of the tennis rackets is same grip size. I mean that if Wilson tour 110 grip size is 3, then Babolat Aeropro Drive GT is same size.
You either have very large hands or are measuring incorrectly. Watch the video again and make sure you are measuring the right spot.
Not all handles are equal. Babolat, for instance, tend to run slightly bigger than most. The handle shape varies between each brand which will also make some feel larger/smaller compared to others. This can vary from player to player depending on the type of grips you use.
You have to have an authorized dealer do it and Head no longer allow us to order them. Volkl is currently the only brand that ships us pallets so we can change grip sizes for customers.
My wife bought me another Six One Tour BLX for Christmas..however the grip size is too big and unfortunately we can't return it (not bought at TW)...how do I reduce the grip size from 4 5/8" to 4 3/8"??
You cannot as that racquet does not have a removable pallet. I've know people try to shave the pallet down in such cases, but very rarely does anyone do a good job of it. Keeping the bevels even and ending up at the right size is very, very difficult.
I normally use 4 3/8. Unfortunately the racket I have intentions on buying from your website is only available with 4 1/8. Can I just wrap lots of overgrips over to compensate or will that have any disadvantages?
To compensate for 2 grip sizes by using overgrips will indeed compromise the integrity of the grip. Meaning, it will feel much more rounded and less bevel feel. On top of that, you'll be changing the balance, weight and swingweight. But if that isn't an issue and if that's the route you want to take, I would suggest using a shrink sleeve opposed to several overgrips.
We can apply a heat shrink sleeve to the pallet which will increase the grip size one full size. That will get you to 4 1/4. By adding a thicker grip such as Wilson's Shock Shield grip and then an over grip will get you very close without losing the feel of the handle bevels. If you just wrap many over grips, the handle will feel round, making ti tougher to judge where the string face is pointing. If you would like us to increase the grip size, please call to order.
@Biltesteren Unfortunately, decreasing a grip size is not nearly as easy as increasing one. Most racquets have foam handles, yours included, which means the only way to decrease is to shave the foam off. That's something we don't recommend you do because it's very difficult to get it even all the way around. Some racquets have pallets that are interchangeable, but not Wilson. You can try to exchange it on our message boards For Sale/Trade section. That'd be what I'd try to do.
If you measured correctly, then your gripsize would be a 5 or 5 1/4. Most racquets are manufactured up to 4 5/8, with some exceptions going as large as 4 3/4. Get the largest you can, and you can have a pro shop increase the grip for you if you so desire.
im almost 41/2 inches and im almost 12 cm... what grip do i need 4 1/4 is too small and 4 3/8 was my old grip size idk if its too small yet cuz its getting stringed
Do they make 4 3/4 grip size rackets at all or can I only build up from 4 5/8? I thought I saw a B Becker racket with a listed 4 3/4 grip option on TW so I wondered about other companies...
The smallest adult grip size is usually 4 1/8(also know as size 1). If that grip size is too big, you can drop down to one of the junior racquets which is 26.5 inches long (a regular racquet is 27 inches long) and comes in a 4 grip(also known as size 0). That way you would hardly be giving up anything in the length of the racquet, yet you'd have a comfortable grip size. The junior Prince EXO3 Rebel, Tour and Graphite all come in a junior, 26.5 inch length.
@tenniswarehouse i tried the ruler thing and i got like 5 inches.......am i doing this wrong or do i just need to get the biggest grip and then on over grip?
@Jrim615 i'd go with a 4 5/8 incase u are doing it wrong, then u can just build it up from there if need be. im a grip 5 and i usually just get 4 1/2 or 4 5/8 if i can and just stick another grip on, playing feels great and the original grip is in pristine condition :D
When measuring with a ruler, I think you should measure right up the line between your ring and middle finger. Not up the middle of your ring finger, as he demonstrated. As you can see in the video, when he measures up the middle of his ring finger, he comes up to about 4 and 3/4". Move the ruler over to the crease between the third and fourth finger, and then measure to the tip of the ring finger, and you'll have a rough estimate of what works best.
@JoeGolfKing "line between your ring and middle finger" , "4 5 fingers" they are so vagues, i still try to guess what are u talking about... but ahem, not sure what it is
@travisdt If you go to 1:06 in the video it shows it pretty well what you're supposed to measure. From the bottom crease to the top of your ring finger. If you are having trouble understanding how to measure for your grip size you can always give us a call or shoot us an email.

ivan0797 1 week ago
@ivan0797, European to US grip size translates as follows: 1 = 4 1/8. 2 = 4 1/4. 3 = 4 3/8. etc.

@tenniswarehouse what about 4 3/8 ? = 11.11 cm + the torna grip it would be like 11.4 right?
sandrapacopaco 2 weeks ago
@sandrapacopaco,
If you plan on using an overgrip all of the time, you should consider moving down to allow for the added thickness.
