Very nice video, I wish I had some film like that of when I was that age. I've had a few Triumphs a TR6 and a 4. I now have a 54 TR2 (rhd) that I bought a few years ago but it's still not restored. This video did inspire me so thanks for that.
I really enjoyed your film. It was really a piece of art. Thanks for sharing. I love the TR3. I hope to have one some day. I have a Spitfire which is great fun and I use it as a driver. It's in British Racing Green, could use a new paint job but over time I've enjoyed the old patina. It's in great shape and I love taking trips with it. But the cut away doors of the TR3 are to die for!
@kcirful thanks for the comment. I had a Spitfire before the TR3A. This was when I was young at the beginning of the 70's. The Spit had overdrive and was my pride and joy for 18 months or so, but I lusted after more power and in the UK, 1971, the 2 litre TR3S was a big engine.
You will never regret owning a TR. they are special.
Hey thanks for taking us along in your time machine! Reminds me of the Super-8 footage like yours (1971 or so) of a guy goofing off with his 250 GTO before they were worth any money. You'd like it. Look it up!
I had a TR-3 for 4 years. It was black with black interior with silver piping on seats. It had Lucas flame thrower fog lights and an Abarth muffler system with Michlen X tires. A white soft top and side curtains. It sounded great !
Great clips. I had a 57 TR2 1/2, which I got at age 17 when it was 3 yrs. old. Once drove through the gardens of a wealthy friend's estate when they treated us badly. When it hit 115mph, it would hake like crazy. Drove it to college with windshield off, wearing goggles and smoking a pipe. Had car painted midnight blue lacquer, with red leather interior and wire wheels. About as close to cool as ever achieved. Now I'm turning 65, and wish I still had that TR.
I had several Triumphs, 5 of them TR-3's. Wish I had Video. I used to fix and sell them for support and fun. ( still have some parts!)The best memories. Thanks for the posting. I have boats now; see newvisionsco on you-tube.
Good-day....Been driving my '59 TR3a since(get this!) 1971....yeah, she has over 300,000 miles and still going strong....meet a lot of guys who say they wished they'd kept theirs....nice film,...I was a CBC photographer...retired now...prefer film over video...love TR's..if it has roll-up windows, it ain't a sportscar,eh? John(west coast,Can)
I was very lucky to have a few short clips which make this vid - lifted from a cine film my mate and I made that year. I was thinking today that I wish I'd kept the TR and still had it now - but it paid my airfare from UK to Australia and I've never regretted moving.
This was filmed in 1973, and my TR3A was in original condition being only about 15 or 16 years old.
I'ver always preferred 'driving' my cars to keeping them as show ponies - I now have a 1988 Corvette as my daily driver - thanks for the comments - Stingraynut

I had a 56 TR 3 and 60 TR-3a...in 1962 - 68. Loved the car...Had a 650cc Triumph bike during the same period. Lucky to live to tell it.

Wow, rare vintage footage...I loved it! I got my first TR3A in 1979 and wish I had taken some super 8 of it!

Rob, where in England was this? Did I see a seaport there? My Great Grandfather came from Birmingham. Thanks!

Hi Skip, no it was a small village by the river in Suffolk.
Is that your TR3A in your refurbished bonnet spring vid? Looks in top condition.
Stingraynut 2 years ago
Yes it is. I bought this '58 about 7 years ago (ebay Motors). I had a red '60 in 1979. I would love to have a right-hand drive though!
