Would it be cost effective to produce Hydrogen at Hydroelectric power plants during off peak periods when it is necessary to release water from the dam?
Question?
Would it be possible for the “Smart Grid” to recognize when excess power is on the grid due to lower demands and if so could Hydrogen be produced with this excess Power? Also, I wonder if this would be cost effective.
The Global Warming experts told us no more snow and disappearing glaciers a few years ago. Now that we have growing glaciers and record breaking snow, they change their pied piper tunes from global warming to climate change
Those of us that informed about the climate crisis are grateful that Al Gore has educated so many. Now, hundreds of millions understand that humanity it deteriorating our only habitat. We MUST change the way we generate and use power or we will suffer the consequences. To some degree it is already too late but we still have time to curb the more negative effects. Join the fight! LOL, In the words of Larry The Cable Guy, "Al Gore, evidently global warming hasn't melted HIS ice cream any! Have you SEEN the size of that FAT bastard lately?!?!?!" Awesome one Larry, and I do believe he DID test positive for being an asshole as well!!!!! LMAO!
And have you heard the news about Harold Lewis, professor of physics at U. of Ca. Santa Barbara? In his letter of resignation he stated that global warming was the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud he has seen in his long life as a physicist.
I invented a breakthrough source of energy, which contradicts the law of conservation of energy. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which contradict the law of energy conservation. It will cost about $1200 to make a 6 kW generator in mass production. Value of the energy produced yearly about $5400. I am looking for $300 000 for a prototype and for $3M for patents.
More Climate News: Climate change has been real for 100 million years. Mankind has nothing to do with it. We are in global cooling. Argentina is losing hundreds of citizens to the bitter cold as a result of cold water off the west coast . Coming to north america in about 4 months. Get ready, it's gonna be brutal.
A study published in 2008 reports that China (which was excluded from the Kyoto requirements) became the largest emitter of CO2 from fossil fuel combustion and cement production in 2006. (Gregg, J. Al Gore should just ask.....You know what happens when you run the car in the garage? You die. That's basically what we're doing on a global scale. A billion gasoline powered cars.....10 million coal-fired plants.....does anyone really think this won't have any affect on global climate? I don't need Al Gore to tell me that which seems to be learnable by simply having the power of observation and common sense.
The Arctic sea ice extent during the melt season ranked the third lowest, after the lowest and second-lowest records set in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
It takes the combined power of at least four wind Turbines located in consistently ideal locations (absolutely No static time), to produce barely enough energy to replace 'One' of them. That my friends is an example of 'The Law of Diminishing Returns". Solar? that is one more laugh, somewhat exotic but still a roaring LOL.... Shut down Coal, Oil, Hydro and Nukes and you can forget ever building another turbine or solar cell. Let alone stay warm in the winter, you do like that, do you not?

Al Gore in front of the entire world in Copenhagen yesterday said that the latest study by world renowned & respected climatologist Dr Wieslav Maslowski shows that the polar ice cap will be gone in 5 to 7 years.
Al was extremely startled and embarrassed however when Dr Wieslav Maslowski (who was present at the time) told world leaders at the summit that he had no idea where Al Gore could have gotten that idea and there was no way his study would support such a claim.
Al Gore is a usurper. he made 100 million off this scam. Al, the scientific concensus is in? if you had a billion dollars in grant money to prove that polka dot frogs shoot out of the statue of liberties butt on the full moon, you would get peer reviewed scientific concensus. Please! this guy wants everybody to live like a new stone age hunter gatherer, while he has a carbon footprint the size of Saint Louis.

Well, say what you will about Gore but be aware of the new study out of MIT
The most comprehensive modeling yet carried out on the likelihood of how much hotter the Earth's climate will get in this century shows that without rapid and massive action, the problem will be about twice as severe as previously estimated six years ago - and could be even worse than that.
I hate al gore and I think global warming is a total hoax but damn, selling my own green electricity is a really good idea. Imagine buying small windmills for $10-$20K each and putting them on your backyard, connecting to main power lines and selling energy that is not used by you.

Spectrophotometry is a relatively common method to monitor chemical reactions in biochemistry (as well as analytical chemistry). I wonder if you realize the implications of the spectrophotometric analysis of that 'ever so political' molecule CO2. It conveniently absorbs light in the infrared wavelength. The rest is self-explanatory and if you don't understand it, well then I'll be the first to say that being "able to spell" is not something that you can put on your résumé.
I never for once claimed such; I merely state that if one knows less than I do about a subject it should be pointed out. I would expect any of my friends to do the same, so that I can learn something. It just always plays out that when I try to use objective reasoning, I am labeled.
I only gain a better understanding of what is wrong with society by trying to be objective on YouTube.
i wish all people would do this, and i wish all people had fireplaces so they could burn plenty of wood at the same time. If we all did this think how much food we'd supply to plants. After all, all of us learned in science class in middle school that plants eat CO2. Who does al gore think he is with his attempts to starve all green vegitation on the earth?? The bastard!!!
you, but they have no imagination, one says what all the others are saying. and why do they constantly use to vulgarity? anyway, did you see the video "Teh Great Global Warming Swindle"? it used to be here on YouTube but it got pulled. It's now in Google video, but who knows how long until it gets pulled from there too. If you havent seen it have a look.
you know capedconservcrusader, you're making some good comments. But are you like me-- are you getting tired of these radical political leftists giving these shallow and thoughtless comments and replies? it's like it's not even worth it talking to them. What you think?
I am of the mind that if you are not highly involved in the field of ecology that your opinion really doesn't matter much anyways. The same goes for Al Gore on this; I could care less about what he says. I lean towards agreeing with him here, but he distorts like Pat Robertson prays.
It's not argued that increases in atmospheric CO2 cause increases in EM absorption; any "scientist" who tries to argue that needs to apply to Super America. What is contested is how much of an effect it has, and this is legit. The bottom line still remains that if humans accelerate any change such that what normally takes place over millennia takes place in a century, it will make the Permian-Triassic transition look like trimming the hedges.
You obviously have little empirical knowledge on the subject and so I don't see why you would bother talking about it as if you had. Have you ever taken a biology course...?
I have a part time job and I go to school full time. Any time I spend on the computer that isn't playing counterstrike source is in transit to counterstrike source. You take up a miniscule fraction of my time; don't flatter yourself.
videoprologic, you are in front of your computer all the time. You do not have the time to do all these things you are talking about. you are lying. Please do not reply to me and waste my time. There are plenty of people like you who never leave their computer. You can exchange comments with them. ok?
I am required to check my email daily for school, so as long as you keep responding to my posts, I will keep being notified about them. It seems like the prudent thing for you to do would be to just shut up.
you are alble to check your emails quite frequently. You say daily, that implies once a day. but certainly your on a computer mare than once a day. It seems your on constantly because when ive sent comments to you they are replied to within 20 minutes, every time, no matter the time of day.
You seem to be so wrought up in this that you have to bend reality. Lies are rarely useful in two way rhetoric where the facts are obvious, so I presume that you are banking on the attention the passive reader will accredit to you. Sad.
There is only about a 3 hour period of the day when I CAN post on YouTube, and suffice to say I generally have other things to do. YouTube is my comic relief of the day. Conveniently, you fit this role nicely.
superiority, that should be your name. or falselyimpresseswithbigwords. or speaksincoherentlythinkingthatmakeshimintellectual. videoprologic doesnt describe you well. Tell me, you are a double major with a part time job and you also have 3 hours a day to be on the internet. ok, well, i'll leave you in your supeiority seat, amusing yourself on the internet - you sure that self amusement you get from the internet is coming from these comment posts?
you said youre a double major with a part time job. sounds like you have no time at all. youve posted a lot of comments to me. i cant see how you have time for the internet.
I spend my time outside of school as leisure. Seeming as I know the main methods of signal transduction for 7-pass g-protein coupled receptors and tyrosine kinase receptors, I don't feel the least bit guilty wasting time on my computer while the rest of my class ketches up.
why was "The Great Global Warming Swindle" video pulled from YouTube? This is FASCISM!! Are you going to collect all the dvd copies of it next and burn them like the nazi's book burnings? THIS IS GERMANY IN THE 1930'S!!
CO2 cannot, and has not caused any warming in the earth. This mild warming, which recently has turned to cooling, is only part of a natural cycle in the earth that is caused by the influence of the sun. First this Al Gore 'invented the internet.' Then he rudely interrupted America with the 2000 recount. Now he's doing this Global Warming scam. Why cant he just stay home and enjoy his riches??
IR spectrometry makes you look foolish for talking, and it has effectively allowed organic chemists to identify functional absorption spectra for the past 50 years. As CO2 has been the defining element of prehistoric climates, I would suggest you start doing your homework. Aside from that, what is wrong with his proposal? It can only benefit the consumer by eliminating an electric bill, and possibly supplementing his pocket? Are you a communist that thinks making money is bad???
sorry, but you are wrong. CO2 cannot cause warming in the earth. A rise in CO2 in the earth has always followed a warming in the earth and not preceeded it. Warming in the earth comes from increased solar activity. And why did you play the communist card on me? Where did your little leftist mind come up with the idea i am against making money? You are a typical lover of leftists politics.
There has been no sunspot activity increase beyond the normal level, and if you had kept up on your literature you would know that the radiative input from the sun has decreased by 20% over the past 50 years.
Oh and such statement of CO2 rise following an ice age, is not within the realm of experimental certainty; there is no rational evidence to conclude that over the other.
Being informed is not as hard as you or Al Gore make it seem.
there doesnt have to be an increase in sun spot activity beyond the normal increases for the earth to warm. Sun spot activity goes in cycles and causes the earth to warm every time it does. We are not in a CO2 catastrophy just because the eath is less than 1 degree warmer than at other times. There is nothing bad happening, we are not all going to cook in 140 degree heat, and the polar bears are all going to be just fine.
As a biochemist who is an evolution nerd, I will say this: we may not directly be affected by a change in 2-3 digress, but that won't matter. Such a rapid change would push the fringe niche organisms far beyond a survivable capacity, and most people don't want to know what it is like to witness the chain reaction of a food chain collapsing upon itself. I abhor most moron environmentalists, but still I remain greatly depressed by our impartiality to the destruction of such biodiversity.
why are you worried? these predictions of the global warming people are not going to happen. the world is not going to lose part of the food chain. You really are a biochemist? i have trouble believing you are.
sorry if i misunderstood you videoprologic. some of the things you were saying had gaps in them, and i wasnt able to make the quantum leaps thru all of them. By the way, where did you get your degree in biochem?
I finished my requirements for it at the University of Minnesota. I am currently doing work in the medical technologies department to finish a double major. The two programs overlap nicely for prerequisites and both are extremely useful for a future medical school application.
videoprologic, what exactly is your point? i didnt make any statement about CO2 rise after an ice age. That is the second time youve said that to me. I cannot see why you do since i have not mentioned, ever, anything about CO2 and ice ages. Maybe you have me mixed up with someone else.
You made a statement about CO2 rise occurring after a rise in temperatures. I simply used ice age because it is most evidently associated with dramatic changes in temperature. Do you understand that global temperatures are related to glacial periods? I guess I just assumed.
I'm saying there is no evidence for causality. I must emphasize the high amount of variability in such data and point out the major statistical fallacy of equating correlation with causation.
"On the basis of our [solar emission] research, we developed a scenario of a global cooling of the Earth's climate by the middle of this century and the beginning of a regular 200-year-long cycle of the climate's global warming at the start of the 22nd century," said the head of the space research sector [Khabibullo Abdusamatov]
That big lie, perpatrated by the trillion dollar fossil fuel insdustry is that 'the basic science of climate change is uncertain'. Infact the basics have been solid for years we knoe enough to realise we have to cut the carbon!
'It took the Catholic Church hundreds of years to develop corrupt practices such as papal indulgences. The global warming religion has barely been around for 20 years, and yet its devotees are allowed to pollute by the simple expedient of paying for papal indulgences called "carbon offsets."' --Ann Coulter--
there are people modifying exercise bikes into generators... riding it for 30 mins a day can potentially generate enough power for one's own uses for a day.
If one were to cut out every electrical load except for perhaps 1/2 hours use of a laptop. we can produce around 120 watts continuous. Well maybe you could do better, but not THAT much.;)
Question?
Would it be cost effective to produce Hydrogen at Hydroelectric power plants during off peak periods when it is necessary to release water from the dam?
Question?
Would it be possible for the “Smart Grid” to recognize when excess power is on the grid due to lower demands and if so could Hydrogen be produced with this excess Power? Also, I wonder if this would be cost effective.

level we were living at in 1883. Maybe by doing this , we can
save the planet! 600 million people on the planet will be plenty.

Al Gore is my sheperd
He is only aware of what he wants
He makes me lie down on park benches outside his mansion
He leads me beside the polluted water of his strip mine
He restores my doubt in brain dead politicians
He leads me in the path of Kyoto for his legacy sake
His lies make children sleepless
Though I walk dark in my house his 4 are lit like Vegas
Surely his lust for power will follow me all the days of my life
And I will see votes held to the light on thanksgiving forever

What you think?
letzfaceit 4 years ago
I am of the mind that if you are not highly involved in the field of ecology that your opinion really doesn't matter much anyways. The same goes for Al Gore on this; I could care less about what he says. I lean towards agreeing with him here, but he distorts like Pat Robertson prays.

It's not argued that increases in atmospheric CO2 cause increases in EM absorption; any "scientist" who tries to argue that needs to apply to Super America. What is contested is how much of an effect it has, and this is legit. The bottom line still remains that if humans accelerate any change such that what normally takes place over millennia takes place in a century, it will make the Permian-Triassic transition look like trimming the hedges.

umm, ya videoprologic, have fun there in whatever it is you are doing. I guess you are the only one amused by you. Did you take your medicine today?

You obviously have little empirical knowledge on the subject and so I don't see why you would bother talking about it as if you had. Have you ever taken a biology course...?

videoprologic, youve wasted enough of my time. You need to break yourself away from your computer screen.
letzfaceit 4 years ago
I have a part time job and I go to school full time. Any time I spend on the computer that isn't playing counterstrike source is in transit to counterstrike source. You take up a miniscule fraction of my time; don't flatter yourself.

videoprologic, you are in front of your computer all the time. You do not have the time to do all these things you are talking about. you are lying. Please do not reply to me and waste my time. There are plenty of people like you who never leave their computer. You can exchange comments with them. ok?
letzfaceit 4 years ago
I am required to check my email daily for school, so as long as you keep responding to my posts, I will keep being notified about them. It seems like the prudent thing for you to do would be to just shut up.
videorprologic 4 years ago
you are alble to check your emails quite frequently.

Why cant he just stay home and enjoy his riches??
letzfaceit 5 years ago
IR spectrometry makes you look foolish for talking, and it has effectively allowed organic chemists to identify functional absorption spectra for the past 50 years. As CO2 has been the defining element of prehistoric climates, I would suggest you start doing your homework. Aside from that, what is wrong with his proposal? It can only benefit the consumer by eliminating an electric bill, and possibly supplementing his pocket? Are you a communist that thinks making money is bad???
videorprologic 5 years ago
sorry, but you are wrong. CO2 cannot cause warming in the earth. A rise in CO2 in the earth has always followed a warming in the earth and not preceeded it. Warming in the earth comes from increased solar activity. And why did you play the communist card on me? Where did your little leftist mind come up with the idea i am against making money? You are a typical lover of leftists politics.
letzfaceit 5 years ago
There has been no sunspot activity increase beyond the normal level, and if you had kept up on your literature you would know that the radiative input from the sun has decreased by 20% over the past 50 years.
Oh and such statement of CO2 rise following an ice age, is not within the realm of experimental certainty; there is no rational evidence to conclude that over the other.
Being informed is not as hard as you or Al Gore make it seem.
videorprologic 5 years ago
there doesnt have to be an increase in sun spot activity beyond the normal increases for the earth to warm.

I abhor most moron environmentalists, but still I remain greatly depressed by our impartiality to the destruction of such biodiversity.
videorprologic 4 years ago
why are you worried? these predictions of the global warming people are not going to happen. the world is not going to lose part of the food chain. You really are a biochemist? i have trouble believing you are.
letzfaceit 4 years ago
sorry if i misunderstood you videoprologic. some of the things you were saying had gaps in them, and i wasnt able to make the quantum leaps thru all of them. By the way, where did you get your degree in biochem?

videorprologic 4 years ago
ok, then, where did you get your degree's' in biochem from? sorry i left off the 's' at the end. Where did you get your degrees from?

I finished my requirements for it at the University of Minnesota. I am currently doing work in the medical technologies department to finish a double major. The two programs overlap nicely for prerequisites and both are extremely useful for a future medical school application.
Why would that matter?
videorprologic 4 years ago
videoprologic, what exactly is your point? i didnt make any statement about CO2 rise after an ice age. That is the second time youve said that to me. I cannot see why you do since i have not mentioned, ever, anything about CO2 and ice ages. Maybe you have me mixed up with someone else.
letzfaceit 4 years ago
You made a statement about CO2 rise occurring after a rise in temperatures. I simply used ice age because it is most evidently associated with dramatic changes in temperature. Do you understand that global temperatures are related to glacial periods? I guess I just assumed.
videorprologic 4 years ago
so you are saying that a rise in temperature in the sun does not cause a rise in CO2 in the earth?
letzfaceit 4 years ago
I'm saying there is no evidence for causality. I must emphasize the high amount of variability in such data and point out the major statistical fallacy of equating correlation with causation.

"On the basis of our [solar emission] research, we developed a scenario of a global cooling of the Earth's climate by the middle of this century and the beginning of a regular 200-year-long cycle of the climate's global warming at the start of the 22nd century," said the head of the space research sector [Khabibullo Abdusamatov]
