  • So why are they not attacking the boats dropping off the radioactive and chemical waste? if they wanted to stop the "atrocity'" you would think they would attach the problem and run the ship a ground so reporters could look it over and show some video tape. No these guys are in it for money. Pirates should be killed everytime all the time....

  • Fishing somalia's oceans to extinction, dumping radioactive and chemical waste in their ocean is a crime against humanity.

    Nice.

Stand up and be recognized America,Italy,Spain,France, greece and the UK.

    DISGUSTING.

  • thank you (AMY GOODMAN) for your professional reporting about this crisis in my homeland SOMALIA. Every story has two sides; the mainstream media is a propoganda filled that is trying so hard to spin and cover up what's causing this crisis which is a massive theft, dumping of nuclear waste and other toxic materails in Somali waters or the entire East African coast.

  • To add another dimension: the global, "privately owned" central banking system awards its large corporate cronies with massive amounts of cheap fiat-money. This causes economic centralization and inflation, and results in the large-scale industry which robs these small fishermen of their livelihoods.

If you want real change, then work toward ending the Federal Reserve, IMF, BIS, World Bank. Every country's central bank is compromised and should be restructured.

  • Check out videos featuring

Congressman Dr. Ron Paul, who advocates a decentralized, free-market, "hard money" solution to take power away from the oligarchs. His proposed legislation includes "HR 4248(find it here on YT or the Web)," which would introduce gold, silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium bullion as legal currency.

Aside from helping the fishermen, this will raise the living standard for the poor and middle class everywhere -- no more inflation to erode incomes and savings.

  • good take there dirty money and rebuild its ok god see this here....they really bring me to tears to my face....i detest these people and i want to help them, take me life.....basterds

  • i find it utterly disturbing how the media or people in general never question the root of the problems but rather come to the conclusion that these people are all predisposed to being criminals.

  • i agree

  • well said.

  • Well the root of the problem is alittle complicated. It might have something to do with the fact that somali hasn't had a working government in nearly 20 years. The pirates have a good arguement, their industry is being stolen from them, so they steal something back. But in terms of media, well people only like to hear about rebels stealing things from industries that feed the rest of the world. Not how the rest of the world robs the poor. If that is true.

  • Hi, I'm Somali, and I just wanted to add something to what you said

What people don't realize is that Somalia is largely a desert terrain.

When the rains fail and droughts ensue, the resulting famines hit very hard

The ocean is unaffected by lack of rain, and so fishing provides a sustainable food source in these times

These foreign fishing tankers which ignore international law, completely obliterate the fish from somali waters, leaving the huge coastal populations in somalia with nohting

  • Pirates of Somalia..Documentary

    /watch?v=aoNx9BgFm60

  • espada, maybe you should be made aware that George Retard Bush era is gone! You are just a hater like Osama Bin Laden, just like you he hates everything that is linked to equality and peace.!

  • One man's prates is another man's coast guard.

  • it wouldnt have been a situation of piracy had it not been for the criminal actions of international fishing fleets who robb the somali people of their livelihoods and jobs.

so lets not fool ourselves by saying "one mans pirat is another man's coast gaurd". we all know who started this problem and who the ultimate responsibility lies with.

  • When your right yout right,,,

  • @RedSeaCoral: who is started this who do you think started this problem foriegn powers or?

  • Waldo slipped and admitted that both the naval and fishing boats are in International Waters. And from what I've heard from people who have been in the pirate towns, much of the piracy has been financed by Somalis living outside of Somalia. The sooner the maritime nations deal firmly and swiftly with these pirates (who have no trouble holding food relief shipments for both Somalia and other African nations where it is needed) the better.

  • Anyone who buys the Corporate media's assessment that the Somali volunteer coast guard are pirates should have their heads examined. What would you do if Starbucks opened a store on your front lawn, dumping their garbage at your doorway and raided your house for coffee, milk and cups and you couldn't get them off your lawn? You'd probably buy your first gun!

  • more people should see this...

  • "fishing piracy" is called "poaching" - lets not pretend its anything new.

  • still stealing. lets not pretend its not.

  • The pirates of the west ravaging their waters dumping nuclear waste. Where's my aluminum foil pirate hat ?

Remember always blame the victim !

A more plausible explanation: These are bad people who want to steal your stuff at gunpoint.

  • So these Somalians just woke up one day and randomly decided to steal some boats?

    Are you being serious?

  • dumping nuclear waste in somalia is a documented fact, asshat.

get your facts straight before making as dick of yourself.
