Didn't realize people still believed this crap outside of the US. I was waiting for this dimwit to say the earth was flat too. There is no excuse for someone to be this stupid, so it must be willful ignorance.
The creationist "theories" I've seen are insane. One puts a dome of ice around the Earth. Another makes the ancient Earth flat and without mountains. My favorite one is that dinosaurs aren't actually extinct at all, just really good at hiding now.
They literally have to imagine up a new world in their heads completely divorced from this one.
I'll tell you where this denial of scientific fact comes from. It comes from trying to combat advancing knowledge from contradicting deeply held beliefs.
When all evidence lines up with the evolutionary theory, they try to come up with alternate theories that explain the evidence away. But when they do that, they change history in a way that forces them to come explain that, which causes a new problem and so on.
CrAP is an extremely apt acronym :) I like it a lot.
I remember Malcolm, I tried arguing with him in the comments section; he did answer, surprisingly, but was completely immune to any arguments. As all crackpots are, of course.
Nah, you don't speak too fast. That's probably just my nan complaining, she watches your vids aswell. I dont think he really believes all that geocentric crap. Someone is paying him to talk super stupid.
To claim that the Universe orbits around the Earth is to claim that there is no speed of light limit to the movement of objects and that there is no such thing as centripidal force. If entire galaxies hundreds of millions of light years away from us did full orbits every 24 hours, they would be moving many billions of times the speed of light and they would break orbit and shoot off into space in straight lines away from us (& stop moving in the night sky).
Andromeda, you have opened my eyes and shamed me at the same time. I watch NephilimFree and think to myself; I glad that he's just a dumb Bible-chomping American redneck geocentrist. Europeans couldn't be that dumb. Then I watched this. Aaaaah, we're surrounded by the stupid people, can we be safe from them anywhere?
@ndog37 I've read it over fifteen times in full in hebrew its not scientific it's more like science in pre school... Accept that it denys a lot of real science go read "the greatest show on earth evidence for evolution" by Richard dawkins you wont be a creationist after this if you have any
I am a creationist and loled at this video. He assumes we are brain dead idiots who didsregard science. The bible is plenty scientific, for all you who care to study it. This guy takes it pretty personally.
If I make a scientific discovery there are 120 vultures that are going to rip it apart.
Thats how science works. If everybody comes to the same conclusion then it becomes a theory. Now do you see the difference between a scientific theory and a regular theory?
One simple proof that the universe does not rotate around a stationary Earth - anything much farther from Earth than Neptune would have to travel faster than light in order to circle the Earth in 24 hours.
Pour water into your batroom sink, and wath the direction the water flows down the drain. On the northern hemisphere the water spirals down counterclockwise. On the southern hemisphere the water rotates in the opposite direction - cloclwise. And on the exact equator (+/- 20 meters), the water does not rotate at all.
Another visual proof is the Foucault Pendulum at the United Nations (google it).
empty bar, thats not right ! get some bottles fella . Reasons why the Earth is NOT like a globe bar , lol. Yes , the Earth is not on wheels , that would be silly because what would the wheels rest on ? the Earth sits on the back of a giant turtle , who stands on another turtle and so on , swimming through the sea of space. Sun orbits once a day ? whats a year then ? two suns , one doing days and one blinking on and off to do years ? tides? hmmm
Easy to debunk that guy. If everything rotated around us every 24hours, then pretty much most of it would have to be faster than the speed of light and hence unobservable ( ignoring the fact that it's impossible to do so anyway )
If the Earth does not rotate then, not only does the North Star not rotate, it also is the furthest star away from us, because it has to be at the top of the universe.
0:45 Wel lthen here's my first question: If the globe bar is supposed to be a miniature version of the earth, and if the earth -according to him- doesn't rotate, then why does the globe bar rotate?
Redsky recently disabled comments on the two daft responses they made to this video. Strangely enough, just after I asked them to explain how a day, month, year and season would be defined in a geocentric model. Simple questions appear to baffle these guys!
@robertwc82 Then I suggest you start doing calculations regarding periods of the radiation of different atoms at absolute zero to find something that can fit your framework.
Yeah...riighhtt, if the moon is going around the planet earth once a day.....Where does it go during the New Moon? Geocentricitist can't answer that one. Their theory sounds pretty good 700 years ago before science. I think they want us back in the Dark Ages again. As bad as the education system getting, I am amazed that Geocentricity is not being tought today. ;-)
The Michelson-Morley experiment wild the prove that the universe is rotating around the a small village in the US when they would set up their experiment. And it would also show that the universe would rotate around Sidney Australia if they did the experiment there. It would show that the universe would have multiple rotation points everywhere you measure it. Clear insanity to use that argument.
Except, andromedaswake, this video entirely depends on youtube to exist. But theres no such thing as youtube. "Theres no such thing as youtube" says sir isaac newton. Read it and weap
The guy at the beginning never even mentioned "Skyhooks", everyone knows thats what keeps the earth Stationary and just dangling there at the centre of the Universe
@eeheard Fortunately, they're rare enough in the UK that we only hear from them on things like youtube. I think I'd literally piss myself, if I ever met someone like the two idiots in this vid.
you can debunk geocentrists instantly by explaining astronomical parallax to them. The only response I can imagine they could come up with is that the devil is moving every object in the universe in a circle of radius 1 AU, and if they try to argue that then you might as well be slamming your head in a door. (Of course you can debunk them millions of ways, but this is particularly quick and easy.)
There's an even more devastating argument, it's called stellar aberration (also called the Bradley effect). Like parallax, it is a annual cyclic motion of every star, caused by the orbital velocity of the earth, instead of its position. But here's the crucial difference: parallax can be explained by the relative position of a star with the earth, but aberration is INDEPENDENT of a star's velocity: it can only be caused by OUR orbital velocity: we're not an inertial frame.
i THINK THE GENERAL ARGUMENT IS;iF THE PHYSICAL DATA FOR THE SPEED OF LIGHT OR THE VALUES FOR THE AGE OF THE UNINVERSE is in doubt... THEN, THE PROCESS OF EVOLUTION MAY HAVE DIFFICULTY IN OCCURING. tI"S an argument that would impress a person not train in any of the sciences and wishes to nod yes to the sermon.
I notice that the people that have strange ideas don't bother to do any experiments themselves. Maybe if they took the time to learn how to do science they might see how easy it is to find out the truth. There is no God. Great video.
@ogo08 What? When did I claim that we were in an inertial frame? The Earth orbits the Sun, so it's always accelerating. And yes, I have heard of Foucault's Pendulum.
@AndromedasWake That was a response to the heliocentrist in your video and not you. I would also point out that a heliocentrist must also disagree with Hamilton's principle, which is about the most accepted principle in all of science ever.
Scarily retarded. Not just the geocentrism, but also if he wishes to comply with superstition, his horseshoe is upside down and all the luck will fall out! Oh dear :(
What is better is that Bowden, a civil engineer, bases his idiocy on the idea that Mars' orbit is counter ALL the other planets. This is utter rubbish...the orbit of Mars has been known since the days of Keppler, and thoroughly documented to boot. Naturally Redsky has not the intellectual or moral honesty to allow uncensored comments...words fail me.
Okay, AW; you are right that these guys are wrong about the geocentrism hypothesis but there's no way to deny that they have proven that the theory of evolution is wrong in their video.
so we can see the moon goes around the earth, we create satellites to do the same. we can track the planets in their orbits...and what do you know? their movements only make sense if they ORBIT THE FUCKING SUN AND SO DO WE.
this was discovered about 500 FUCKING YEARS AGO YOU RETARDED BIBLE-THUMPING IDIOTS. It's called EXPERIMENTAL CONFIRMATION.
Prove it otherwise. PROVE it - show us the workings! the reasonings! any thing other than just babble!
Oh for fuck sake why don't you just let the original video play? Why constantly interrupt it with useless jabber? The ignorance of these men speaks for itself, we don't need you butting in with EEENG! and BING! and other annoying pop ups.
If you want to prove it wrong, then you could just talk about the earth's rotation, if we didn't rotate then such an aether would have a stronger effect on the speed of light at the equator, rather than the poles. I love how you have the ability to find such bullshit
"What does any of this have to do with Evolution?" Well Andromedaswake, you may know this already but creationists like to put all the scientific theories that contradict creationism under one banner so they can attack them all at once.
holyshitfuck!! i was taking a drink when that nugget said that planet earth does not rotate now its on my screen, this is the 21st century!! how can people still not accept or grasp some of the most basic facts of the space rock they live on
Well, I have no problem understanding, but I suppose I can see how some people would, you do talk rather fast, but your slower and less narrative way should be used in videos like this, and videos that are nothing but informative, or perhaps enlightening, should be scripted. There's no reason not to do both, just pick and choose right :p, you will of course succeed because of all the fabulous feedback you get.
@AtheismandSkepticism - I think you need to concentrate on your studies more, get a bit of practicle application experience under your belt before tackling geocentrist. Any good physicist would of applied the "slap the stupid fuck around the face a few times with a wet fish" technique. What better than the sudden transfer of kinetic energy from the fish to the face of said geocentrist. Obviously some energy will escape in the form of sound, the sound of wet fish slaps never fail to amuse.
oh by the way i've really enjoyed the first part of the vid it looked very much like a comedian performance, the rest was way too serious and could not be treated as a joke
believe me there are plenty people in the world who would trust this fart with their child's education.... damn who gives a s... what scientists discover... if they don't see the Earth spinning beneath their feet they can't comprehend that it is actually rotating! much less that it orbits around the Sun.... i wonder how many people still believe or accept the concept of the FLAT EARTH lol--- "honey i think if we go to Haiti we might find the end of the EARTH, i think it's starts to fall appart"
AndromedasWake, you really don't have to disproof these clown with big words they can't understand. Just simply put them on a plane and let them fly to the east and then back to the west. Gee whiz, they wonder, why is going east, faster then going west? Because of the presence of jet stream that is caused by the EARTH'S ROTATION!
I'm inspired to make a video series entitled: "Creationists say the darnedest things". Experimental Physics is fascinating. That's my field of specialty. Specifically Psycho-physics.
of course, as an independent researcher I don't follow the "rules". I work with plant consciousness, water consciousness and various other forms of psychic research with demonstrable evidence that goes disgustingly unacknowledged. As far as I'm concerned, if it works who cares what the status quo says it has to be like?
I was going to say he's joking right. Then I read your comment. I went there and ...I'm at a loss for words. I've been told they were out there, but I never seen it for myself. At least not someone who is apparently raised within a technologically and scientifically advanced culture. I was raised in YEC Churches and I can't believe I have just witnessed someone actually making them look rational. I must stop now, my brains starting to hurt.
To my tremendous amusement, the apparently senile Malcolm Bowden promised (in a video that Andrew Inns apparently never watches, since he didn't know this was in it) to find a MATHEMATICAL inconsistency in Special Relativity.
For those who (like Malcolm and Andrew) don't know, to do that you'd first have to overturn the branch of mathematics called Group Theory, which can be used to show that there can be no such inconsistency in Special Relativity.
You see, when he wants to go to work, he jumps. Since everything is orbiting the Earth at a rate of once per day, a small jump, straight up, will carry you several kilometers away. All that's necessary is that you install very thick padding onto the side of your workplace to land into, and you're done!
Getting home requires a higher jump, because you have to go the whole way around.
Andromedaswake PLEASE please continue this work. I know arguing with idiots on youtube may seem inconsequential, but it teaches so much to so many of us. I wish the internet had been around when I was in school........I honestly think I would've been a 4.0 gpa student had it been so.
Couldn't you say that everything in our solar system revolves around the center of gravity for the system, which is not actually the center of the sun, but near it since the sun is so big in comparison to the rest?
I don't even understand the idea of the entire universe rotating around the earth. Wouldn't it fly apart because of centrifugal force?
Are these clowns for real? I mean, is it a type of masochistic attention-seeking behaviour for them or what?
Perfectly easy to understand. You explain simply and accurately.... It does help that the concepts are elementary physics... lmao. I can't believe that there are people that could possibly believe this nonsense. Then again, there is now a "museum" that says penguins and lions bookended a dimetrodon on a boat...
Holy fucking crap. This, after we actually WENT TO SPACE and watched the Earth rotate, probably while this clown was in nappies and shitting all over himself. He still might be wearing nappies and shitting all over himself - the content of his video seems to indicate he's not a very fast learner.
People, you CAN'T be this surprised. Don't you see this stuff every day?
I worked with one NASA engineer who was a devout "Young Earther" and another one who was a Medjugorje Miracle nut and pilgram. Smart people can really, really good at reconciling disparate frames of thought. To secretly know that a sacred belief is bullshit, but still work it into your view of reality, is far, far more work than simply following the herd. On one hand, they are gullible. On the other hand, we are.
@yegorletoff .......sadly even shit this stupid isn't even close to the worst. I'm a high school drop out, yet I've met many professional college grads that know nothing and I do mean nothing about the world they live in. The amount of times I hear "They want us to believe in global warming? Ha! It's freezing." Yet they still only compare the whole world to their personal experiences in montana. :( It's fucking depressing, I mean how the fuck did science get a bad rap? Everyone owes to science.
there can be many reasons. one of them i believe is religion. the other one could be just plain the intellectual incapability plus tabloid/sensationalist journalism ("what scientist don't tell you"-kind of headline).
So if everything in the universe goes around the Earth once every 24 hours........... how fast are those galaxies billions of light years away going to be able to do this lol?
this cant be real.... I mean, i understand the bible thumpers wanting the fairytale to be true. But this is a whole new world of stupid to me. Jesus effing Christ.
It's funny how these berks associate evolution with cosmology. Taking two unrelated topics and saying that one proves the other is no way to convert people!
The fact that life could still evolve on a geocentric Earth in a steady state universe doesn't seem to bother them.
Although for a geocentric universe to exist; the laws of Physics would have to be so incredibly loopy that I don't see why life would even need to bother with that messy evolution lark. So there may as well be a Prankster God.
I have a question (a genuine one) about MM experiment. As I understand it, it was intended to test for earth's movement through the ether. A null result could mean there was no stationary ether, or that the earth itself was (close to) stationary. in a heliocentric model, we can drive a stake through through the earth stopping it- all of the other bodies will still rotate the sun. Essentially to prove the earth is in motion we would have to do the experiment off earth - has this been done?
@ConradW An intriguing point is how anyone expected a "stationary ether". ("Stationary" relative to the sun?) This makes us almost as special in the universe as geocentrism. The null result is far more telling when the speed of rotation speed of a galazy arm is considered.
The HafeleKeating time dialtion experiment should not have worked because the speeds of all clocks from galaxy rotation were not considered, the difference negligible. Success is because the earth drags ether, no "wind".
@zebionic Aether wasn't "assumed to be stationary in terms of some universal absolute frame of reference", but was believed to BE the "absolute frame of reference". It makes perfect sense if you draw the analogy of Red Shift to Doppler Effect, which EVERYONE does. Aether wind was expected because no scientific-minded person expected the earth to be special.
Universal Expansion is completely irrelevent. Expansion isn't "known" in a scientific sense. It's just a theory to explain red shifts.)
You don't need to avoid scripting. You just need to read slower. You usually start out slow and then you talk so fast that it's getting very difficult to follow you, even for someone who knows a thing or two about astrophysics. You should also pause (maybe even blank the screen) for a 2-3 seconds after each idea, so that we may have a bit of time to relax our minds.
I've been a keen creationist watcher for years now but still, at around 1:20, I noticed the peanuts I had been eating while watching this had dropped out of my mouth

(Of course you can debunk them millions of ways, but this is particularly quick and easy.)
zudthespud 1 year ago
@zudthespud

@AndromedasWake That was a response to the heliocentrist in your video and not you. I would also point out that a heliocentrist must also disagree with Hamilton's principle, which is about the most accepted principle in all of science ever.

Well, I have no problem understanding, but I suppose I can see how some people would, you do talk rather fast, but your slower and less narrative way should be used in videos like this, and videos that are nothing but informative, or perhaps enlightening, should be scripted.

TrueMetis 2 years ago 50
@TrueMetis Quite simple to explain.

People, you CAN'T be this surprised. Don't you see this stuff every day?
I worked with one NASA engineer who was a devout "Young Earther" and another one who was a Medjugorje Miracle nut and pilgram. Smart people can really, really good at reconciling disparate frames of thought. To secretly know that a sacred belief is bullshit, but still work it into your view of reality, is far, far more work than simply following the herd. On one hand, they are gullible. On the other hand, we are.

In my opinion, creationists (particularly those of the young earth persuasion) prove that evolution can happen in reverse.
ZShogan 2 years ago

ConradW 2 years ago
@ConradW An intriguing point is how anyone expected a "stationary ether". ("Stationary" relative to the sun?) This makes us almost as special in the universe as geocentrism. The null result is far more telling when the speed of rotation speed of a galazy arm is considered.
The HafeleKeating time dialtion experiment should not have worked because the speeds of all clocks from galaxy rotation were not considered, the difference negligible. Success is because the earth drags ether, no "wind".
BeauEvil 2 years ago
I think that the stationary ether was supposed to be absolutely stationary - things were stationary relative to it, not the other way around.
I'm not sure I understand your answer, or if it answers my question - whats HafeleKeating experiment? how is it relevant?
ConradW 2 years ago
@BeauEvil I believe that the ether was assumed to be stationary in terms of some universal, absolute frame of reference.
Remember, this was before Einstein; while absolute space and time were somewhat controversial, they were considered a valid possibility.
This was also before the universe was known to be expanding.
zebionic 2 years ago
@zebionic Aether wasn't "assumed to be stationary in terms of some universal absolute frame of reference", but was believed to BE the "absolute frame of reference". It makes perfect sense if you draw the analogy of Red Shift to Doppler Effect, which EVERYONE does. Aether wind was expected because no scientific-minded person expected the earth to be special.
Universal Expansion is completely irrelevent. Expansion isn't "known" in a scientific sense. It's just a theory to explain red shifts.)
BeauEvil 2 years ago

You don't need to avoid scripting. You just need to read slower. You usually start out slow and then you talk so fast that it's getting very difficult to follow you, even for someone who knows a thing or two about astrophysics. You should also pause (maybe even blank the screen) for a 2-3 seconds after each idea, so that we may have a bit of time to relax our minds.
Thanks!
