Cool vid man....I'm old school...49 now...Still got my Alva Board with Trackers and a set of Simms Wheels. I'm glad skaters are looking back to surfin the pavement. Like catchin a cool buzz all over again...Peace
@Grizzly5055 I still ride that board... I broke one of my original tracker trucks in the late 90's and went with a pair of independent trucks for replacement... Still riding the same set of kryptonics.... Check out my other vids for some old school freestyle done by a 47 year old die hard skater.
Wasn't alive "back in the day", but I skate old school anyway, it doesn't involve so many rules, it's what skating should be again. People just having fun and not and not letting their ego get in the way of the fun. If you do something that looks cool, do it. Whether it involves touching the ground or not, it doesn't matter, have fun.
"The old school is where it's at bro!" I'm back skating again at 41 with my son and I'm holding up good. Back in the day we skated to rock, metal, and punk/hardcore, it's all good!
@skumrock ... you must not be a fan of old school rock then... no problem... but not only is it a killer song from "back in the day" but the song title "the ripper" matches the fact that I'm ripping up a skate park.
wow i can imagine how much those boards are worth i have an old dogtown suicidal tesions and thats worth 4000 dollars but those have to be wayyyy moree
this is realy fun i have a old skhool skateboard but its got benett truks and wheels with a g&s board but thanks for posting this it brings back happy times.
This video is seriously awesome the wallride on the garage door is insane. I started skating after the skatepark boom went bust, then street skating was born. Your from the east did you ever ride cherry hill?
thanks.. you can't tell from the pics but I have a gravel driveway so I lined up a bunch of old plywood and luan pieces to make a runway to that ramp and I had not been on my skateboard for like 6-7 years before that day!! so I was really stoked that I was able to still ride vertical!! I got re-hooked on skating after that and I don't think i've gone more then a few weeks without skating since then!! No I've never skated Cherry Hill...
hey buddy you seem to have quite a bit of smarts on boarding i got 2 questions would an old school powell board be able to use on a halfpipe and bowls and 2 what wheels should i use for it regular or longboard wheels answer would be great thanks and keep skating
I prefere a nice wide board to ride 1/2 pipes and bowls that have vertical so if your old school powell board is wide then it's probably a good choice to start with and for better grip I would go with some softer wheels like the longboarders use. if your board is wide keep in mind that the outer edge of your wheels should be close to even with the edge of the board so you may need some wider trucks....if you want to do flip tricks and slides then a small board and hard wheels are best. peace
yea well the reason i choose a old school board was that my feet are size 12 so its probably easier to ride a old school board no i got just one more question should my trucks be tight or loose or is it just a preference thing tnaks
i think preference and riding type... like for 1/2 pipes just doing 180's and fakie's and other "reverse" momentum tricks then i keep my trucks a little on the tight side (not over tight) but to do some bowl carving i'll want more turning but still firm.... have fun experimenting
@USMC77777 if u want to turn more easier choose to lossen them but if u like going just kinda straight then dnt but its best of to lossen the hope this helpd
i want 2 get my hands on an old skool sk8board, i want 2 see where i can get one of those in argentina,, there must be a place! 5/5 cool pics man, Kick ass song!!
ya thats sweet pics dude back then people skated for fun and not to get cash chicks and to wear the clothes.wish i was born back then hell sometimes i imagine i was a member o the z-boys lol
yea I miss the old days... everything was way more laid back and like you said we really did skate for fun ...and I do think some skaters still skate for fun these days but alot are doing it for the attention and trying to nail that "big" trick to impress.. and I AM impressed at the stuff thats being done on skateboards these days, it's sick....
the z-boys were my hero's back in the 70's when I was a subsriber to skateboarder magazine and I would always look forward to that next issue to see more pics from dogtown... to me Alva was king then and he is still kicking ass today ....LONG LIVE THE KING!!
