He is really good. I'm sure he's been working on his guitar for hours everyday since .. I dunno, forever. But his music misses something ...It misses what makes him different from Jimmy Page, B.B. King, Jimmy Hendrix, Johnny Greenwood or Wes Borland. (I'm a Wes Borland huge fan). It's good, but not intense.

regardless, Buckethead is still very much in the 'underground' status. don't get me wrong, he's damn well known, but he's never going to be exactly a household name, and he likes it that way. even more reason i respect him so much.
he plays technically better than most guitarists alive aside from those who inspired him, Satriani notably, and if you knew ANYTHING about him before bashing him, you'd know his melodic control is astounding. his emotional playing live is breathtaking

The only thing Buckethead doesn't really do is make a song where the whole band is so technical that nobody really can enjoy it for the art (rather than the technique).

Chicken Butt Head is OK. He has a good heart and a searching soul. These are good things to share. He is NOT God. He is NOT the greatest guitarist ever. He is not a "complete" artist because he uses old, familiar forms and riffs. I know you fans are devoted and faithful to him, but I listen to A LOT of music from everyone from everywhere, the whole world. There are plenty of musicians making music this beautiful. Not criticizing The Bucket, just the silly, under informed, self centered uber-fans

The true genius is in putting theses together in new ways, as buckethead does perfectly. He created a whole new solo to soothsayer in a second. Buckethead is a genius. Buckethead is a god. His songs, however, are quite simple & corny, even if they are emotionally juvenile. I discovered his existance about a year ago.
to know that other 40 year olds are listening to buckehead fills me with fear because any of them could be ahead of me in the game and pose a threat to my plans.
on the other hand it makes me feel good to know they like him as I do.
