  • How do we say:

    He wrote

    He wrote it

    He ate it

    He kiled him

    He washed the car

  • Can this mean "to love" when it's directed at a person, or is it only for desiring inanimate entities?

  • no this is not "to love" just just to want. i want something. the problem is in English u say want only one way. in Amharic u change that word according to the subject for I U HE/she we they is different way to say want.

  • Ameseginalehu, Astwa2. :)

I was just curious because I've noticed some slight similarities between Italian and Amharic, and I think that in Italian, the verb for "to want" can also mean "to love" when it's directed at a person. (It's the same in Spanish, and probably some other romance languages, too.)

Good to know that it can't be used the same way in Amharic!

...I hope they do some more of these verb videos. They are so helpful!

My suggestions: to live, to love, to like, to eat

  • this is my first language lol! it sounds so strange being thought for ppl of another language it is going so slowly than we normally speak it obviously is for ppl who don't speak amharic. yes to want is to want only different way depending on subject he/she/they etc right . Love is called " Fikir" but Amharic is not too romantic like italian ooops sorry to disappoint u.
