  • i thought you had that fixed!

  • Rigor Mortis by Joe Green.

  • What was the song she had been singing?

  • 0:59 Exactly

  • Dette er bare fantastisk underholdende å se og høre på:-)

  • "We have an agreement... she keeps her hands off my piano, and I won't lay hands on her coloratura."

That kills me, every time. I love it also when he tells her, "Don't you know your song?" Pianists always complain that singers don't know the songs or that we modify it to make it easier and they have to keep up with us. :D

  • Does it get any funnier than Victor Borge putting on a seat belt for Marilyn's high note? I don't think so!!

  • HANDS OFF!!

  • the seatbelt is my favorite part.

  • Bellissimo!!!!!!

  • OMG, his funniest routine, I've seen it hundred times and it's like the first time again! There's many great musicians and comedians in the world, but only one Great Dane!

  • Very cool!!!

  • Awesome!

  • @gooneybird47 I'm a 17 year old British teenager and I love Victor Borge. Been watching his videos since I was about 7. There are some decent young people in the world you know :)

  • @Armydude991 Well you're one of the few. No offense meant.

  • @gooneybird47 Certainly, Opera is considered less mainstream entertainment than it was in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but there are still countless schols across the United States devoted to teaching opera and classical singing technique. I've been working for years to become both a performer and eventually an instructor, and hope to encourage as money young people as possible to explore and enjoy vocal music.

  • @TenoreRobusto1347 You're absolutely right. Best of luck to you in your efforts.

  • @gooneybird47 18 as long as there is music involved. I'm ok with it.

  • @gooneybird47 I'm a nineteen year old, who is currently studying to perform in the opera for the rest of my life if I can. We still exist! haha.

I love Victor Borge and his own special brand of musical/comedic genius.

  • She has such a beautiful voice! I wish I could stop laughing so i can listen to her lolz!!!!

  • I love the final bit where he pulls out the seat belts, I laugh every time.

  • Joe Green LOL. That made my day.

  • 2:34 I love how he throws in those random half-steps! LOL

  • This beautiful, genious of comedy absolutely puts to SHAME our standard of what passes for "funny" these days... VICTOR BORGE IS BRILLIANT!!!

  • High-note vs. Piano slip! Pure gold.

  • Hands off please...

  • Just Brilliant......

  • How in the world did 11 people NOT enjoy this video???

  • @bottomlesschad

They were probably part of the target audience of VH1, MTV, and a fair portion of Comedy Central. So a classy form of comedy like this won't appeal to them.

  • I think I pulled something...

  • Hans Liberg, need I say more?

  • @1heiman I wouldn't mind if Liberg qould continue using Borge-material - but I never ever have heard him mentioning Borge... I laughed about Liberg, until I found Borge...

  • great timing at 4:15!!!

  • HILLARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh My GoD! "you just said that .... twice.... I thought you had that fixed...." what a bad idea to watch him at 1 am!

  • LOL @ 2:46! I love the way he bobs his head as he's playing! HAHA!!!

  • She is a great sport.

  • OOOOooooOOOOoooo! .. oooohh.

  • Joe Green xD

Victor Borge is a genius: a great musician and a great comedian!

  • Good ol' seat-belts!

You know, I haven't seen anyone else use seat-belts in this way. His originality will live forever.

  • lmao 5:55 to 6:14

  • "I play the Chopin's Minute Waltz 3 times and my eggs are done"

  • 3:46 Victor Borge sneezes. if you wanna hear more OPERA comedy, try ANNA RUSSELL!!! I am only 37 and I love Victor. Watch him falling off the stool. when I saw him at the age of 90 & 91, the programs said "He may fall off his stool" NOT AT THAT AGE!!! also "We do have an agreement. She doesn't touch my piano-- I don't lay hands on her coloratura!" great 'pun' as in soprano.

    "Mexican FOod"

"I thought you had that fixed"

    "Mexican food"

I love it when she couldnt find an entrance.

  • @TEMPmichaelhansen

    I thought he said,

    "Aw, shut up!"

  • @SchnauzerGirl726 I think that he does.

  • Giuseppe Verdi.....Joe Green to you....

  • 1:01 was funny as hell lol

  • What seatbelt?

  • @Natlantia

    6:00

    "Mexican Food"

  • I can listen to this over and over again, and I can't stop laughing

  • Hands off, please.

  • I love the allegro!

  • "AWW SHUT UP!" LOL. HE'S A GENIUS!

  • LOL .seatbelt!

  • 6:00 Hilarious!!!!!

  • @84Fish48Fish

Giuseppe Verdi's name literally translates into "Joseph Green"

  • @kvkitsch "Joseph Greens"

  • @kvkitsch Doesn't sound as cool, does it? XDD

  • What did he mean when he said, "Joe Green to you?"

  • what is the tune he plays at 3:25 ? I want to learn that PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU KNOW!!!!

  • 3: 25 sounds vaguely like a pastiche of Dukas's Sorcerer's Apprentice, but I could be wrong...

  • @1221twilight "On THe Trail" from Grofé's "The Grand Canyon Suite" - it's associated with the clip-clop of the mules walking down the trail...

  • @1221twilight i know this part from Olivier Hardy and Stan Laurel.... the Thick and the thin

  • I haven't seen these in so long, still laughing my arse off.

  • you just said that! lol

  • He seems like the most unlikely person to be doing these acts, but somehow he's the best at them I've ever seen. I have tears in my eyes from laughing so far, and he's a masterful pianist as well :D

  • 4:14.... too good :)

  • Amazing, no words.

I've watched these videos x.xxx times

  • 6:01 to 6:12....ROFL!! Priceless...

    I love it!!

  • Hahaha, his wobbly legs.

  • 3:42 "OHH shut up!!" LMAO best part. I used to watch this with my grandpa alllllll the time. Cried laughing every time. This brings back great memories :)

  • She is a gifted singer. Send her our regards. :)

  • daar heeft hans liberg goed naar gekeke!

  • zeker weten!

  • Marilyn has a GREAT voice!! Victor....well, he's Victor Borge, whaddya expect? ^_^

I miss this guy so much. He made music so great!!!

  • when he is scared from the first voice great great

  • Can someone tell me where to get the sheet music for what he is playing at 5:55

  • This brings back memories of my Gramp laughing so hard at these concerts he would have tears running down his face. Thanks for the GREAT memories!!

  • you just said that....twice?

i thought u had that fixed?

  • haha joe green

  • Can you explain that? I've watched this so many times on VCR but I never understood it.

  • guisseppe: joe in translation

    verdi: italian for green

    thus, joe green!

  • Oh, I get it now! Thanks a lot!!

  • It's a literal English translation of the Italian name of the composer. Giuseppe means Joseph (or Joe) and Verdi means green. Thus, Giuseppe Verdi

translates to "Joe Green." Hope that helps.

  • How come can she stay serious and focused? Beats me..............

    XD

  • Planned act. She knows he's going to do that stupid stuff. But that are both professional and very talented musicians, so they know how to put on a good show.

  • where has all the great comedy gone.... most of it died with this brilliant man... what a shame...

still, thank god for youtube :D

  • well we still have jeff. hes pretty funny.

  • yea true

  • The end note was the absolute best - great all the way through!

  • HIs reaction to her first note is excruciatingly funny! Simply brilliant!! The whole gag is great!

  • comic genius

  • You kind of miss the old guy you know. There's just not much like it anymore

  • What's the song in 2:40?

  • that's the beginning of the Aria, Borge style

  • I LOVE how he's constantly on her about keeping her hands off the piano.

Borge was one of the greatest.

  • haha she has been singing with him for quite a while now!

  • My husband was in another room the first time he heard this on a videotape. He couldn't figure out why I was so hysterical, since I'm not a big opera fan. He came in just as Victor Borge did something, I've forgotten what, and was soon laughing as hard as I was. My favorite part is when he falls off the bench and then gets out a seat belt.

  • Ah, the legend. Just don't see comedy like this anymore.

  • LOL, big time!!!!

Note to self: NEVER eat or drink when watching Victor Borge!

    :D

  • @Dac719 thanks for the advice but its TOO LATE!! for ME!!! dam im messy!!

  • @LUVMEN21 LOL

  • lol

  • Good thing Marilyn Mulvey has a sense of humor! As talented and lovely as she is, most opera singers have a stick up their ass the size of a Cadillac!

  • have you met that many opera singers?

  • yes

  • well then. i suppose you're right lol. marilyn mulvey is wonderful

  • Well also, she must realize that she's working with.... Victor Borge.

  • "You just said that." Classic!

  • Also "I thought you had that fixed." LOL

  • 3:50 - 4:10 --Une telle absurdite merveilleuse.

And: "We do have an agreement. She doesn't touch my piano-- I don't lay hands on her coloratura!"

  • this is great now i have a reason to listen to classical music and piss people off muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • he sounds like a wounded animal lol. he was something else. this was entertainment man lol love it

  • Our music teacher showed this in class and I was the only one laughing i had tears pouring down my cheeks and the rest were looking at me like I had a real problem :P

  • well ur not the only one like that here lol

  • it really does seem to be rare people who understand and love victor. I'm one of them and I'm just as baffled by the people who don't get it

  • wel to wreally apreciate him you have to know music. for some of his jokes you just have to have a musical knowledge.

his sense of humour wonderfull and combined with wonderfull pianoplaying.

As a musician you have to love borge!!

  • Many, many thanks to the person who sent this to me.SOOOO funny.

  • "You just said that"... lmao!!

  • "It shouldn't take long.....Not if I can help it."

    I love this man

  • i was good until the seat belts... ROTFL!!!

  • "Joe Green to you..." This had me in stitches! He was a genius, musically and comedically.

  • ROTFL.. he's a nut!!! I'm crying from laughing.

  • What's he playing at 4:23?

  • I think it's cartoon music that you hear when a horse is loping along.

  • At 4.23 it's a brief snatch from "On the Trail" from Aaron Copeland's " Billy the Kid and Rodeo" suite..... so it's modern 'classical' music.

  • the day the teddy bears have their picnic

  • OH SHUT UP! lmao

  • lmao i love this video!! he's so hilarious he's one of my heros

  • "hands off, please,"

    hahahahahaha!!

    thanks for sharing!

  • oh!now i get why he does that whining thing while she's singing, its like a dog, you know when a dog whines when somewhones singing cause it hurts their ears, i think thats why he does it , just to be silly of course but thats probably what he was prtraying

  • actually he was trying to sing along

  • When he sings along, that's absolutely hysterical. I do that occasionally when my friends sing ;-D

  • 5 : 08 LMAO!

I love this aria I am singing it for voice I give her props lol I couldnt keep a straight face

  • 1:01. rofl. Cracks me up every time!

  • LOL 2:48 cracks me up because he randomly throws in the horrible dissonance.

Oh also, love the seatbelt in the bench, LOL! XD

  • What's he playing at 2:48

  • 0:40.

    You don't need tuning.

  • one of the best parts of this is at 4:15-4:16 he also just rndomnly starts playing a different tune in the middle of it its so funny

  • Pure genius! Love Mr. Borge!

  • Victor Borge is one of the few greats that can tell a joke without saying a word. A true genius. I really miss not only him, but his class and creativity.

  • xD too fun !!

    rawr! I4

  • Giuseppe Verdi!.."Joe Green"...to you!! hahaha

  • It's the first time in my life that I enjoy a comedian.

  • Really? You must not have much of a sence of humour?

  • Fabuloso!!

  • Wow he changed 9 seconds of the aria in total!!! Its the end of the world, seriously the guy is a musical genius, get over yourself and appreciate his music, and humor.

  • I'm an opera singer and even I recognize that Victor Borge was just having fun with the aria. I love that he did that, it shows that the subject of classical music does not have to be boring or "stuffy" as many detractors claim. I was only saying that he made some changes to the way the aria went, but they were all in fun! (Which I should have pointed out) And they ARE hilarious. (Not sure why I was voted 3 down, perhaps I should have made myself more clear)

  • Sorry about that, i guess it just kinda sounded like you didn't like his additions. That's probobly why you got voted down. I just blew up because it annoys me when people bash classical music, i realize you were not doing that and i'm sorry. So you're an opera singer, thats cool! My bestfriend is also an opera singer.

  • Anyone know the name of the song that Marilyn is singing to and Borge is playing? I gathered it was from Verdi's Rigoletto opera, but what song in that opera if it was from that opera?

    ThankU.

  • It is Gilda's aria "Caro Nome".

  • a shame that he died...

  • @sylvie190

i saw him in concert when he was 90 and 91 years old

    "Mexican food"

  • i love him. he is soo funny.

  • I love this guy!!! He's one of my favorite comedians! And WHAT A MUSICIAN! How does one learn to play the piano THAT well? Lol. Backwards, upside down, anything! Lol. And Marilyn is awesome for keeping up with him. This is so wonderful!

  • he learns from Lizst's student

  • oh my god this is the funniest thing ever......

  • One of the funniest things I have ever seen. "Oh Shup up!"

  • One of the greatest acts ever!!!!

  • i've seen this about 20 times and i still laugh out loud!

    2:47 - priceless!

  • Funniest man who ever lived.
