DEAR ALL SCHOOL PRINCIPLES, PLEASE FIRE EVERY SINGLE TEACHER AT SCHOOL! & Hire Youtube and Google. (; I think all us students can agree we learn MORE FROM THEM than we do from the teachers at school that can barely teach. @OfficialAla I entirely agree. Back in my school days, I didn't learn crap from my teachers. Tried homeschool, and I learned a heck of a lot more than the kids in public schools. I self-taught myself pretty much everything I know. :] With some help from Youtube & Google of course.

Basically what's she's saying is that to find x, you have to multiply the full secant segments (both parts of the secant added together) (in this case 16 and x) By the external (outside the circle) part of the secant and set them equal to each other. So... 16*3=x*6 or 48=6x. x= 8. Why you would want to find x, I have no idea. Also, a secant is a line which intersects a circle two times.

before watching ANY of these geometry TUT. you should learn the proofs first. it is so much easier that way

if you have two secants coming from an external point they are congruent.

so set up two equations.

full secant length x external length

x x 6

3 x 16 set equal to each other then use alegebra

6x=48

x=8
