  • its times like this i love being named Gino

  • Oh my gosh I remember this, and also Orangina for some weird reason. Reminds me of when I was 4 or 5 and it was a really hot summer. Ah memories...

  • Apparently, Gino Ginelli ice cream still exists in South Africa and in Ibiza. I looked it up on Google yesterday. It's true! You have to take your holidays there if you want your fix of Gino Ginelli ice cream now.

Wall's discontinued the brand in 1996 because they saw how another ice cream brand, Carte D'or was popular in France and they wanted to introduce that ice cream to Britain. So they discontinued Gino Ginelli because they couldn't afford to have two luxury ice creams in supermarkets.

  • @cupcakefairy87 why do big companies always make retarded decisions? Carte D'Or is VERY poor icecream imho.

  • TOFFEE FOOGIE!!!

  • Hehe! I used to sing this song all the time!

  • Mmmmm. I love gino ginelli ice cream.

  • I love the gino ginelli ice cream to bits. I would find it very hard to resist if I go near

  • why dont they sell this ice cream anymore ! well not where i live :(

  • i remember this from 1988, 1989... raiding the freezer in the garage for the mint choc chip with a spoon when my mum wasn't looking!

  • Tutti Fruity what a cutie?! LYRIC FAIL

  • About as Italian as a pair of Glaswegian testicles

  • the comet advert just says it all xD

  • I like how the child towards the end is screaming in prospective agony when being handed a bowl of Tutti Frutti.

  • This is definitely older than 1994. The clue is in the Comet ad for me. Simply the phone number right at the bottom! It says 01. I'm London born and bred. We had 01 as our phone code until around 1990. Then 081/071 until 1995 maybe. Then 0181 etc til 2000, so this is older than 1994

  • I REALLY miss Gino Ginelli ice cream. I used to love putting loads of toffee and fudge and mint choc chip (that actually had crunchy bits in it) in a massive bowl and eat it all. made myself ill a good few times but it was bloody fantastic.

I want it back dammit! i wonder if theres a petition or something to get it remade here in the uk. Whilst i'm at it i'm gonna get Romantica back too, that thing rocked. Lord knows why they stopped making it. You guys with me?

  • @GiddeonG How about signing a petition for something USEFUL.. like for no old people in cinemas?

  • My name is Gino. I was but 10 years old when this ad was popular.

Take one frigging guess what I had sang to me for years after...

  • @unrealuk

    LMAO...

  • This looks a teeny bit older than 1994.

    This takes me back though.

  • Wow I'd forgotten all about Gino Ginelli icecream! I seem to remember it had a slightly strange texture? I could never put my finger on it but its coming back to me now lol

  • It was not Italian as it was made by 'Walls' plus it even says it in the the ad

  • @SweetT79 You notice this with all "italian" commerical food in Europe like Pizza, Lasagne lol it says made in the UK, or Belgium, or Holland etc lol Yet it's ever sold in Italy

  • @ojideagu Yea lol its never in Italy because its terrible. Another one is the terrible Ragu Pasta sauce, its not Italian nor sold there, its crap, pure & simple. The worst one I saw was the 'Pizza Express' chain & in London where I live it said outside the restaurant 'traditional Italian receipe from Rome'!!! Pizza does not come from Rome its from Naples!!

  • I used to love the mint choc chip flavour!

  • FUCKING CLASSIC! "GINO GINELLI" ICE CREAM FROM "PIAZA ITALIA".........MADE IN THE UK!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO LIARS!!!! IT'S THEREFORE ABOUT AS ITALIAN AS THE QUEEN'S TITS!

  • I remember everyone selling tutti fruity ice cream in the 80's and early 90's. I've not seen it for years now.

  • @RabidRaccoonUK I know - Thorntons used to sell it aswell in their icecream stands in the shops. Havent seen it for along time now.

  • how do you make it??! I bet someone could easily make it at home.

  • italian VERVE!

  • has any1 got all the lyrics?

  • Don't you love the way they HAD to put "Made in England" at the end. Evidently the advertising standards agency put the boot in.

"So, its not Italian, has no Italian ingredients, wasn't made in Italy and Walls has no Italian employees and is being investigated by the racial equalities commision for this very thing? I think we need a big ol' made in england at the end. Possibly the beginning too" .

  • If I recall correctly they also made Gino Ginelli Pizza's for awhile

  • Classic advert, have not seen it in years but it is exactly as I remember it. Something about it never leaves your brain. Gino Ginelli and his catchy little jingle will be with me for life.

  • Good old Ginelli about as italian as a dead British Bull dog that was born in ireland to scottish parents. The taste brings back so many memorys , it was actually the first time as a child that i realised that food could bite back.

  • Gino Ginelli were the Ben and Jerrys of their time. In a sort of Shakin Stevens was the UK's Elvis kind of frame.

  • 1994? wow. the ad looks about 25 years old, maybe thats why nobody bought it lol

  • The ad is at latest from the very early 90s. I suspect the late 80s...I think I remember seeing it then.

  • I made love to my girlfriend to that music we had a baby and called him gino but we left out in the sun and he died

  • I don't know why but I'm in tears from that comment!!! So fucking funny!!!!!

  • Hahahahahahahaha. That is funny!

  • @drawbutt Oh man that is fucking funny! Haha!

  • @drawbutt that's the most inspired comment I've ever read on youtube.

  • @drawbutt You are an idiot.

  • @drawbutt u fuckin nutter thats made me laugh

  • What a load of crap. Im more of a Vienetta man myself.

  • I miss this ad!

  • EURGH! The 'Tutti-Frutti' flavour was full of chopped mixed-peel! It used to get stuck in your back teeth and everything!

...but saying that - happy memories! x

  • tuttie frutti was waxy and gross

  • @zestyfork I really liked the peel! And today I had a random craving for honeycomb icecream, off to Tesco!

  • gino ginelli died of aids in the 80s!

  • @antiiraqwar Seriously, you just made me spit my ice cream allover my laptop.

  • Tutti Fruitti Gino Ginelli is my all time favourite Ice cream, I wish they'd bring it back. Great advert!

  • lol i told my italian girlfreind about this and she was weting herself.... tutti frutti! LOL!!

  • i so remember this advert. i remember i liked the tutti frutti on screen and begged my mum to buy it. so our family ice cream of choice was this.

  • I don't think the guy singing this is Italian.

  • My first thought

  • I used to have that bloody song going round my head as a teenager and now it'll be doing it again! They don't even make Gino Ginelli ice cream anymore do they?

  • The Comet ad at the start has an "01" London number, but 01 became 071/081 in 1990 so I think this ad must be from 1988/89 not 1994

  • Yep, I remeber this ad from when I started school so it's defo around 1989!

  • Holy crap are you sure this is from 1994? Because this exact ad was running in 1989. Five damn years of this thing.

  • that song is so catchy yet sooooo annoying! anyone know where i can buy some gino ginelli?

  • I loved the gino ginelli ice cream

  • You gotta love the "Made in UK" little sign at the end of the advert.

    hahahhahaha!

Man, this ad has stuck in my head for years, every now and again my brother and I will just burst into it. haha. I actually thought the guy singing had a proper Italian accent.

    Kids eh.

  • to think they replaced gino ginelli with boring old carte dor. the big shot new guy who axed this awsome icecream deserves to be shot.

  • ive been looking for the other gino ginelli advert. Where one guy says "minty chocky chip" and another says "and a toffee fooowgeee"

  • "Tutti Frutti oh what a cutey"......!!!! hahaha, what a class line!

  • hahaha Oh you know! lol

  • GINO OH GINO GINELLI!!

  • Italian = yeah made in a factory in leeds

  • this made me melt a little inside

  • I used one of my mums old gino ginelli tubs for my packed lunch box at school (we were pretty hard up back then) lol

  • These days, people would probably pay you in the region of £20.00 for that lunchbox.

    ...do we have a deal?

  • Hhaha I'm named after Gino GinelliXD

  • OMG i love it. "Gino Ginelli ice cream from Italia (MADE IN UK)"

  • Lord of Mercy...that is the Don!!!!!!!

  • I think Gino Ginelli is now Carte Dor

  • Lol Love the made in the UK logo at the end. But ye Loved this tune and avert. So retro!

  • The "Made in UK" is right next to the Wall's logo at the end!

  • me too, we weren't allowed to have this when I was a kid. always wanted to try the mint choc chip flavour.

  • Oh wow - I missed out on this yet I remember the brand name from my youth too

  • Oh my god . . . my boyfriend brought this advert's annoying song up whilst we were walking down the promenade in Scarborough this week!! They all look really nice . . . but weren't they in technicolour/full of additives and send kids hyper!?

  • I so remember Gino Ginelli. I was 6 in 1994 when this ad was out. I kept begging my Nanna to buy me some so I could try it but my Nanna kept saying no. I miss it. Is Gino Ginelli still out to buy in the UK or not? Because I want to buy lots of tubes of Gino Ginelli for me to try so me and all my mates can have some on my birthday party Saturday June the 28th and my 20th birthday Monday June the 30th so we can have a gino ginelli party feast. Bring back Gino Ginelli Gino oh Gino Ginelli I love it

  • this lady knows the score!

  • I think Wall's stopped production of Gino Ginelli from around 1995/1996

  • oh.my.god.what an advert lol.i never had this ice cream EVER.always wanted to try tutti frutti but never did.by the time i was old enough to buy my own,i think they took it off the shelves!

  • This kind of video makes you realise why companies spend millions and millions on advertising.

Gino Ginelli firmly stuck in my brain!

It's not even a good advert, but boy do i subconsciously know about Gino Ginelli.

  • Yet another retro tv ad that has a tune which is firmly lodged in me old brain box!

    Classic!

  • wine gums add is back though

  • I remember this. The singing is embaressing.

  • The memories. Lovely stuff!

  • I remember this being my Mums ice cream ONLY and being out of bounds :(

  • oh my god, i thought i was the only one that happened to!! i share your pain!! lol

  • Hahaha, me too. I was allowed to have a speck of Tutti Frutti (*what a cutie!*) once, but otherwise it was the special mom and guests ice cream.

I keep pissing myself laughing at the last 7 seconds. Aside from the main hook which I used to sing when I was younger, 'the ice cream sensation' - like Gino was a renowned ice cream man! Haha.

  • bring back gino ginelli!

  • Gino oh Gino Ginelli!! Wow havent seen this ad in years!!!

  • This is the stuff of LEGEND!

  • Damn right mate! I've written down the lyrics so I can sing it to my mates lol

  • YES!

    Tutti Frutti, what a cutie!

  • I had that in my head today and I dont know why! I miss Gino Ginelli
