@93mr0 I recommend a new kind of nationalism to you all who are proving less interest into music than countries: all super good musicians come from this wonderful planet earth !
The person who posted this is a moron. There are at least two songs he has attributed to Maynard that are clearly not. This is Buddy from the album titled "MERCY MERCY". Couldn't be more obvious. Maynard, to the best of my extensive knowledge, NEVER recorded or played "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy". And to anyone who wants to argue this point, DON'T DO SO WITHOUT PROOF. We need an album title or dates when he played it. Otherwise, get a life.
I have to disagree about the "no screamers in BR's band" remark. John Madrid is one of my favorite high note players, he lets loose in Rich's live recording. Not trying to split hair or anything, and Maynard still trumps them all though.
This isn't Manyards arrangement it is Buddy Richs. Still great recording though. I play this in our schools Sr. Jazz Band. We are thinking of playing it in the National's
Yes, this is definitely The Buddy Rich Big Band. It's off their "Live" 1968 album recorded at Caesar's Palace entitled Mercy, Mercy. The amazing lead trumpet on this track is actually Al Porchino. In the liner notes for this album it says that he could "lead a brass section safely through a forest fire". Great song.
Ain't Maynard...this has gotta be Buddy
