To follow Kyoto, you have to cut GHGs by 6 percent below 1990 levels. Oh but wait, our GHG levels are up 30 percent thanks to 13 years of Liberal rule. So, we are supposed to cut out GHGs by 36 percent in 5 years? Are you kidding me? Are we just supposed to turn a magic light switch off and have everyone stand still for a year? What a joke. The Liberals are the biggest hypocrites on earth.
Yes! And its even worse than that. We need to cut by 36% by 2008, and then buy carbon credits for each tonne of GHG we are over target, with an additional 30% penalty, for each of the 5 years during the first committment period of 2008-2012. It means billions of dollars being sent outside Canada, and therefore less money to invest in technology to and other solutions to actually reduce GHG emmissions. Committing to Kyoto at this late date is NOT good for the environement!
