@guitardrumskate That "child molester" is Steve Albini, you show some respect, he is one of the greatest things to come from the 90's, his guitar sound, his journalism and his studio he made to help undergorund bands, he's truley a great musician. And, yes, he does, a little bit, 'specially with that haircut...
albini once asked david yow what he thought of shellac and yow boldly told him it sounds like rapemen with different drums and albini got all offended lol.
@rubster1206 He plays Travis Bean guitars. They have an aluminum neck, which is (part of) why his sound is so distinct. Only about 3,500 Travis Bean basses and guitars were made and general production ended in 1979.
ik heb een idee over onze eigen nieuwe sound jongens: laten we de plukkerigste band ooit worden!!! jaaaa goed man en dan vertellen we het niet aan onze ouders ok ?
@ektoratreyu I'm buying the DVD just for this track (others a nice bonus). The studio production is a domesticated animal compared to the Burn to Shine beast. Is Shellac always this good live?

His guitar sounds like it was dunked in water and then someone took a shit on it.. I like how they have that cool vintage equipment up there to make them look more awesome than they are..
"cool vintage equipment"? the solid components that they themselves, as electronic engineers, developed?!? just because you don't get the sound doesn't mean that albini didn't influence half the bands you mention, m.l.f. i was in a band that toured with mogwai a long time ago; they're a rip-off of everything steve produced, plus some others. do your homework, newbie.

"solid components?" I think you don't know what you're talking about for starters.. They sounds like pure ass and being "in a band that toured with Mogwai" has absolutely no bearing on anything. Millions of bands tour with millions of other bands. I've seen mogwai live and I can assure you it makes shellac look quite pathetic. Shellac did not "influence half the bands" I mentioned. yeah, i've toured with a LOT of those bands you mentioned, as a matter of fact, and i do think it has a bearing on something. and i know who built the components that shellac uses, "for starters". newbie was long before starcraft; all i meant by it is that you at least SOUND clueless. mogwai is a totally different aesthetic than shellac, you can't even compare the two in performance. i think mogwai have gone from a slint/frontier ripoff to a cheap version of tool, sadly.

how can he be "historically significant" if not many people have heard of him? i'm not saying he's bad or ought, it's just your comment makes no sense...
As temporal distance increases, many significant historic moments, events and figures become increasingly recognized for their achievements. Billy Strayhorn's contribution to Duke Wellington's music and mythos can not be divorced from the persona of his second hand man. . One can not possibly have knowledge of all history from all disciplines that was once obscure, the carefully studied, acknowledge by critical peers and then disseminated more widely to the public.
While Rae Eames did have some recognition as the husband the one of the 20th Century's iconic designers. Interviews, journals, and research little room for doubt that Charles and Rae deserve equal credit since the objects were both their creations, not the spawn of the male figurehead. This is not a feminist fad that re-interprets history, but findings that illuminate lesser known writings, creations and decisions.
Like wise Christo, whose wife Jean-Claude, was indispensable to the projects so duly gave her equal billing as Christo and Jean Claude.. I use these because they are important philosophical and progressive declarations in late 20th century art.. I certainly am unaware of many a theory person who I should be embarrassed to be knowing nothing about them. A common awareness of a particular subject matter is not one of the more stringent criteria for something "historically significant."
First of all, "not many people" you're hanging with, maybe. Second of all, if you establish a genealogy stretching from the first Big Black lps to, say, In Utero by Nirvana (which you don't need a Foucaultian historian to do, this being the age of the Internet and all), you can see that Albini is the undercurrent.
Third: you did know that J.S. Bach was practically an annonymous figure in Europe and otherwise during his lifetime and a coupla following centuries? It wasn't until Felix Mendelsson started republishing his work that his name become remotely familiar. Today he's bigger than Handel, who, at his day, had boys throwing themselves at his balls. A Vintage bass, here. Yeah, that's the brand name. Crappy P-Bass copy with Wilkinson pickups, a pick guard that has a naff screw and probably needs new strings and a truss rod adjustment at least :(

Is it just me, or is Jagmaster the most unfortunate name for a musical instrument ever? They are quite nice looking, though.

Yeah, it's not as pleasant as saying Jazzmaster or Jaguar :D But they are great guitars for the price. And lots of fun to modify.
