If you have the guts and skill, try using an internal combustion engine with something like that. Just don't sue me if you blow up your hand or something like that! In theory, you can use something like a diesel engine's compression to force two gasses to ignite pretty uniformly. I'm not sure how good a compression you can (safely) get in a hand-held engine, though. It's probably why no one makes them. That and it would be a REALLY hot gun.

okay, I have three critics to your project:

1. I like the idea of a plasma gun :)

2. After taking a look at your link and rewatching the video, it seems like the sparks mostly come out of the back of the "barrel", maybe you should seal this too raise the pressure built up.

3. I don't think this is a real plasma gun, a real plasma gun would use the plasma itself as projectile. I'm not sure, but I think the correct term for this type of weapon is a TE-gun; a thermo-electrical gun...

what you need to do is condense that into a man portable weapon. All you need is some good scafolding to mount all of this on, a new charging system using a more heavy duty battery(such as a D battery rather than the AA that you use, as D batteries have, on average, 5 times the power of a AA battery), some form of container to hold the assemblage externally so as not to obstruct the path of the projectile or force the weapon to be a muzzle loader, and a barrel. Either way, nice idea.
