Before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 they sent agents to the Islands to try and forment rebellion among the Native Hawaiians who stayed loyal to the U.S. The Queen's nephew became a U.S. Senator and another of her relatives became A decorated hero in WWI. I don't think you could restore the monarchy today. The last King of Egypt. Farouk. Said the day would come when the only King in the world would be in England and on playing cards.

6:14 Actually it was an annexationist that was killed not the son of an annexationist. Chalres L. Carter. His father was Henry A. P. Carter who wasn't an annexationist and wanted to preserved the monarchy by negotiating another treaty with the US after the repeal of the 1875 reciproctiy treaty

Grover Cleveland was a friend of the Queen. He did his best to undo the coup but could not.

@1Historygenius I think it was due to the standards of the time and the era. The Civl War Generation was still alive. An American President sending U.S. Troops to fight American citizens would have been a scandal. He tried to control events quietly and diplomaticly but it did not work. The Queen made her own situation worse and played into the hands of the Coup Plotters with ill tought out rebellion plans.

@jvarela965 Oh, and one more thing, I understand that the Queen was pro-peace, how does she expect to get her power back? Also, I think I know a nice way to resolve this issue today. Hawaii will still be a US State and its leaders will obey their constitution, but instead of a governor, the monarchy there is put back in power and act as the state government of Hawaii.

@1Historygenius. Very nice idea! But that does not need to happen. What needs to happen is the honoring of the treaties that was made between Her Majesty and the newly assigned U.S. Ambassador Albert Willis in 1893. These are called the "Exective Agreements," which in short format clearly states that the United States Government must set a military government and administer Hawaiian Kingdom law, restore the Kingdom Government, and leave. And those treaties still are binding today.
