Saw this short piece on ABCtv reporting last night that the chicken sanctuary was destroyed in the huge floods 2 weeks ago however it reminded me of that unforgettable documentary aired some time back and had to see if it was on YT.
In many ways chickens can be fascinating however, Mark Tully too is a rare breed.
Can you please tell me where I can buy a copy of this doco? I live in the U.S and i googled it and tryed to find it on ebay...but no luck! Please help!
Sadly not... This is an all australian doco, im not sure how you can get the DVD, i assume you can still download it somehow.... google Vickie Gest, shes the one who produced this doco, she might have this doco up on her website
i totally 'get' this! i have parrots and pigeons, and i think there's just something a little extra special about a bird wanting to be with you. i have dogs, too, and their loyalty is rather expected, but when a BIRD is clamoring for your attention....it's somehow different. especially when it has nothing to do with food or water, or treats, they just want YOU.
I absolutley LOVED this doco!!!! I saw it ages ago, but still clearly remeber the fantastic story of one man and his chickens. i was left spell bound by this wonderful story, music and cinematography!

Hey this looks fantastic! We just recently completed a feature-length documentary, Mad City Chickens, on urban people who keep chickens in their backyards. Wish we would have known about this; there maybe could have been some collaboration.
Can't wait to see your film! Looks like a lot of fun.
Thank God there are people like him. I have my own little chicken rescue going on. Small I have 5 pet chickens now. All a different breed. Here they are in Pecking order. Pearl, Magie, Blondi, Nugget and little spice. I have another 45 I take care of in a different ranch. Great Vid. Thank You.
The best doco of the year and one which really lived up to my expectations. Awesome photography and a great script. Mark's a legend and I hope someone puts him into a TV series of his own. He's a natural who projects much warmth and humour. One of few genuine Aussie characters. Buk, buk, bukuuuurbuk!
argh, i'm a chicken nut and i'd been looking forward to watching that, I had the vcr set to record it, but the harddrive was full and it didn't record.
bwarrrk... i'm so annoyed i missed it. If the abc doesn't offer it on their site I simply have to find out if there are dvds i can buy.
must. watch. chicken. program.
How utterly adorable is that one at 00:14!! "buk?" it's too cute for words!!!!!

Do they have a Paypal donation feature? I dont really support charities (e.g those on Sky tv) but this chicken one looks important.
