Most camera black and white setting is ok to decide if it looks good as a black and white. most photos from a digital camera set on B&W produce dull flat photos.Decide if it looks good in B&W but leave it as a colour photo, there is plenty of reasonably priced editing programs you can change over any colour photo to a black and white with more power to adjust contrast, highlights and shadows, results will be alot better ooo and ahh photos.
it is a big HP commercial but at least there are good tips there for everyone.
