Could you please upload that video of the duet on Dein ist Mein Ganzes Herz, on the Medina Concert?? I've been looking after it whithout succes; it is one of my favourites interpretations! Please...
Superb interpretation from all aspects: singing and conducting. Joseph has a one in a century's voice which gets better all the time. I'm also proud to mention that conductor Brian Schembri's father (Carmelo) was a witness at my wedding and that we use to compose songs together for the Malta Song Festival. I would very much wish to re-establish contact with him, not having done so since taking up residence in Australia in 1983. Clemente Zammit
Beautifully sung! Warm exciting voice. Pavarotti's voice was more relaxed .Calleja puts all his energy and feelings . Pavarotti's technique was immense though. But i love Calleja' s vocal energy which is very moving . Gives you goose bumps.
Wow, thats a big statement, considering Pav had an extraordinary career.. lets see him do all the things Pav did, and for as long with as much vocal quality and hardly any diminishment in range. I love this guy's voice, but I loved Pav when he was young too.
Yes Joseph is the next BIG thing. His voices is getting bigger and darker as he approaches 30 Years old. I am a Lanza fan too but have you heard of Domingo's Granada? I believe that is the one to listen. Tito Beltran is not really a great tenor but his Granada is superb. Good luck to you.
Despite some mistakes on the words (spanish, I guess Calleja is not very familiarized to the language); his poetry and intention is excellent. The las note is a bit sharp. Though this is one of the best interpretations I've heard of this beautiful song, Granada, that makes part of the Suite Española of the mexican composer Agustín Lara. Congratulations. I am looking forward for Calleja to develop his talent.
he sings very good. A very talented tenor. As vikinggirl said he is still very young so he has room to improve. I'm sure we will hear a lot from him in the future. Keep it up Mr Calleja.
As regards to perezlafont ( who cannot write in English) don't expect a foreigner to sing in a perfect spanish accent!!!!
Granada es un clasico de Agustin Lara, que se canta en espanol y no en espanol italianizado. Buena voz de tenor, pero preocupa que abra tanto la boca para cantar.
I have and he is just getting better and better - to think he is not even 30 yet! What a bright future he has, as long as he stay smart in his choice of rep.
Vikinggirl beat me to it. Have owned his CDs for a long time now and I thrill in the development of the very fine tenor. Just listened to the Requiem from Copenhagen and it blew me away - incredible.

The likeness to Bjorling is scary. The onset of his tone is brilliantly close to that of Bjorling. Just incredible.

Joseph Calleja has a big voice that becomes interesting when he sings his high notes. He needs to work more on Granada such as rythem,
voice dynamics and diction. From my prospective,
he has ability but here he was not smooth nor did I get the feeling he owned it.

Superb voice & beautiful singing! Calleja sings better live than most tenors do in recordings. I already prefer him to Pavarotti.

one of the most exciting versions I ever heard. I think it would be even more exciting to raise it half a tone.

Wow!!
Incredible version of this old chestnut!
Joseph Calleja is the best young singer
around. Can't wait to hear more from him
in the next few years. If only he doesn't
start getting ahead of himself and takes
his time developing his repertoire, we
should be able to enjoy this wonderful
voice for years to come!
Thanks for posting this!
