Don't ask me why I hate that question! I could watch his interviews all day. His mannerisms make me laugh not because it's funny, it's just endearing to watch.
i was always an outsider and this music always spoke to me.if i ever meet mike i will buy him a pint and say i think your music is great and dont be so insecure with your self because you rock, cause you are one of the best musicians in the world.
@joof68 strange...i always felt the same way as a kid. Always wanted to be a loner. His music touched me in the same way..even now i still get that vibe from it. It always makes me think about the countryside and the outdoors.Weird huh
the "new way" is not haunting like the original, its not as easy to listen to, which i don't think wouldn't stand up to being repeated over and over, its like the end of a section. i guess too much thought has gone in to it. keep it simple!
Wherever the theme came, from, Oldfield made it work and produced a unique work. The man is a genius. His guitar playing alone ranks him as a world class musician.

well I saw him on a program in the UK admitting that he reversed a classical piece (Mozart I think) for the main theme. I think somewhere deep down he probably feels a bit of a cheat. So it's taken 35 years to come up with that. Better? I don't think so!!
It was just the piano melody at the beginning it referred to. The program was Later with Jools Holland. I think it was Bach's Toccata? In all fairness he did create a complete masterpiece and that tune is only a small part of it. In my opinion it's not the best part anyway, it's just the most well known.

I think people are taking the last bit of the interview way too seriously.
Look at his face there, he's obviously just being silly!

Yes, he was inspired by a classical tune. Mozart????
He was slightly inspired by a piece from Bach.
Noone with any knowledge of classical music will ever listen to you again. Mozart...... Stupid motherfucking idiot.

hahaha, hilarisch dat laatste stuk: 'it took me 35 years. it's just better'
