@999danny333 you can't even spell harmonica when it's right in front of you. sheesh. And there's nothing remotely 'stupid' about a real harmonica - nor the people who play it brilliantly. There's a whole lot stupid about your comment, however. :)
:D well for blow reeds can use air compresor and i have a vision 10 tubes coming out from air comprresor , they all have valve locks with swiches and a simple schem, intresting idea, air compresor for blow, vacuum cleanere for draw reeds :)
it did untill i was vacumming with it and it exploded and dust got everywhere... YAY dead spider in the carpet!!! yeah all fun and games until mom says that i did it so i clean it up.
You have it backwards. The vacuum nozzle should be moving while the harmonica is stationary, and you should have a valve thats keeps a beat so that the vacuum sucks only when the printer stops on the note.
Actually that's wrong - when you play the harmonica you don't move your head - you move the harmonica. Unless you're doing it Dylan style of course...
Did i Really just waste my time watching that.... And you just wasted like what a day making it ! I understand the Stuped Part in Stupid inventions NOW.!!!< WTF????
I think I know how you would go about making this play tunes. You need to find out where on a page corresponds to each note then set out little lines across the page that show where the notes are and represent each note with a block. for a note of x length put x blocks etc.. unless that's not how printers work.
one of the main problems i noticed (at least with my printer) is that after a few lines of printing, the main cartridge thing (that the harmonica is attached to) goes back all the way to the right I think to receive the next commands...
either way Im busy with school now so im trying to focus on doing more Stupid Inventions... but I would love to revisit and fine tune this one when I have the time...
i gotta say that this is a pretty cool idea for a first design prototype
but you need to get a quiter vacuum
also you should try changine the images on the computer and see if you make songs, this will take a long time but would be cool if you could translate songs into bar code that the printer prints and plays on the instrument
I guess I try to think of stupid things that bother me and try to come up with a way to fix them,,.. but this idea just came to me one day in class...
hahahahahaha, I actually got some Sharper Image gadgets for cheap after they went out of business that I sometimes use for parts in these inventions...
I came up with the idea of the harmonica attached to the printer in like April, but didnt come up with the vacuum idea until about a week before i made the video...
@StupidInventions lol - actually - there are youtube videos which would give you a basic introduction to playing harmonica, and it probably cost you a lot more time and effort coming up with your 'self-playing' machine than it would have taken to learn the rudiments of playing the darn thing. @ElizabethGS True, but the idea here wasnt to learn how to play the harmonica, but to build a robot harmonica.... not that it makes sense or is practical in any way, just because its fun!
@StupidInventions I DO get it, but you said you have no musical talent, and I'm saying there are people who play by learning to read music who've also begun by not having any musical talent, lol. Not to take the fun out of this, it won't truly be a Robot harmonica until it blows & draws (notice I'm not going for the cheap joke, here). ;) And - in order to actually sound like real music, it would be cool to somehow slow down the harmonica as it passes in front of the hose. I DID enjoy this.
@StupidInventions I just thought of a shop-vac? Don't some of them also have a blow option (for blowing leaves)? possible? That technology would seem to be able to be utilized for both a blow/draw instrument. Just tossing ideas out, here. :)
I did try a fan blowing into a funnel, but it didnt have enough power to make any noise on the harmonica....
I also tried a hair dryer blowing into a funnel, which did work! But the heat generated by it was an issue...
So the only available, viable option on my limited budget was an old vacuum cleaner... but i am considering buying an external mike for inventions like this where sound is crucial...
if I could remove it without damaging the rest of the dryer, it should work, but I would need a hairdryer that someone is willing to let me break... remember Stupid Inventions is on a tight budget, lol
