@Badgerinthenight is something has no boundary, than it has no shape. in abstract art usually thing do have shapes, for instance mondrian, but if you look at pollock his "shapes" have a shape that you cannot describe with words. a cloud is more than that, you cannot describe its shape, and you cannon draw its shape, so what shape is it then? it thing that clouds have no shape, same as fracktals...to define a shape you must describe its boundary, can you describe a boundary of a cloud?
This is just incredible, what a beautiful, novel and thought-provoking idea. I would just love4 to see it, such a shame it is gone. So glad they won the competition, and with their budget being slashed mid-way through the build I think they did extraordinarily well. I adore clouds and this is a beautiful representation of how a Stratus cloud can be so beautiful yet so plain. Thanks for posting this. :D
inside of it you were supposed to find all the types of bottled natural water in the world but something happened (i don;t remember what) and they gave up that idea
Hmm, I though it was an acutal building.. but I'm pleasantly surprised.. if I ever (hopefully) go to Europe, I'd really want to go see it in person .. I like the concept, definitely different
phenomenologicaly, it's really not a building, because, for instance, it doesn't have a shape, a fasade with a shape, because a cloud has no boundary, therefore no shape
@jakna No you didn't say that, you said "this is not a building", your exact words. Your're making up definitions of what things are. A building is anything built or constructed, there are so strict definitions to how it should be built or constructed nor what materials can and can't be used. In my opinion, the frame of this building was built and the rest was constructed. Plus, just because something has no boundary doesn't mean it has no shape, like in abstract art.
@jakna Phenomenology is not about shape or form. Phenomenology is a complex subject about cognition, perception, and reality of being. Phenomenology can be researched through sound with has no shape but occupies volume. What you mean to say is that this project is affect because it is purely about shape simply for the "be cool" leaving the occupants questioning the material aspects and its form.
great shots! :-)

this is not a building
jakna 2 years ago
@jakna Why, because it doesn't fir your preconceptions of what a building is? That's the point, to defy convention.

@Badgerinthenight that's what i said.
