  • Fave striker in the 80s and 90s always took the net , centr-half and goalkeeper out!!!!! last fprward to actually hold the ball up properly with either foot and from any angle.,

  • I don't know who Mark Huges is - but he doesn't half look and play like Mark Hughes......

  • I think Mark Hughes was a brilliant player and manger, and a top bloke! Dignified and respectful unlike many managers out there. Our small country has produced more top footballers than you would expect. Dal ati Mark!

  • Great striker, Same level as Batistuta

  • dont understand why people put music over the top of great goal vids. when everyone would rather here the commentary and the noise of the freakin crowd.

  • The man was just brilliant, score with either boot! One of the strongest players I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Excellent!

  • Brilliant striker

  • He's only 47 and looks like he's in his 50's. I mean he stopped playing 8 years ago. Still, you know when people like Ryan Giggs have played for so long when people that he used to play for and against are now mangers.

  • great footage but shit song, I prefer the original or you could have put something like Trampled Underfoot in there by Zepplein man -

  • Mark Hughes wasn't a bad player either.

  • nice vid keep it up i love manchester united do you??

  • go manchester u will be the best forever!!!!!!!!

  • Sparky, you were one of the best. Brilliant, just pure brilliant!! First goal away at Oxford. Remember it well. Wish the commentary was on instead of this music. Spoilt it..

  • Sparky, you were one of the best. Brilliant, just pure brilliant!!

  • best goal is 3:10!

  • A proper out-and-out striker. World Class.

  • 1:23 One hell of a volley!

  • HE"S DOING IT THEN AND STILL DOING IT NOW

RYAN GIGGS A TRUE LEGEND IN FOOTBALL

  • Brilliant video, with all the classic goals there present and correct, except that one against Spain. Shame about your spelling but otherwise nice one mckan!

  • What a video. Pity I only found it by looking at the "suggested videos" over there on the right.

This video doesn't come up when you search for Mark Hughes Manchester United because, as you can see, you've spelt his name wrong.

Come on mate, you obviously have a lot of respect for Sparky so at least spell his name right.

  • the best part is that he gets fouled several times in this video and doesnt just fall over like people do now-a-days, its classy to see someone take pride in what they do

  • 1:28 is unbelieveable! Absolute Legend.

  • found this link while trying to show a young Red how good Hughsies' goal against Spain was, saw most of his goals home and away from his first at Oxford. A legend, but must say he came back from Barca and Bayern a better all round player whose link up play was superb. No one could pull a goalkeepers long clearance down on his thigh like him. However at United he was like Bovril, love or hate him ,he was always the player I would have loved to have been, even if he did dive against Monpelier

  • United legend!

  • go on hughesie my red son

  • Read fully before becoming a Internet casualty.

When I was a kid MH was seen as being shit. He scored 10-17 goals a season... and was never up there with Wright, Cole, shearer.

But he is and was a great player for loads of different reasons.. He scared defenses, he was unpredictable, alert, and strong. Hes a great forward.

  • @strunway So did you see him as shit or are you saying people considered him shit? Because someone was wrong.. By the time the Premiership started Mark Hughes had already won the PFA Players Player of the year TWICE - in 1989 and 1991, and I recalled NOBODY saying he was shit. He didn't score 25 goals a season but neither did Zola, Cantona or Bergkamp. He was never considered shit. Like you say, a great player, and the one I grew up idolising as a kid.

  • @bruntacus yeah... Like I said. Read my full comment. As a child u don't always consider what aspects if a footballer makes him good, generally its all about goals. I'm my little primary school he was considered shit. If I were u I wouldnt get too upset at what 35 7 year olds thought 20 years ago.

  • great post......thanks,great times !

  • he might have been city manager . but he will always be a united legend to me fantastic player.

  • we named our dog after this pure legend... noone will every be able or ever has been able to volley a ball like he could... once a blue but always a RED!!!!

  • lost abit of his legend status by managing the enemy tho

  • iF WE HAD A BRITISH SQUAD WE WOULD WIN MORE WORLD CUPS PULL BRITIAN BACK TOGETHER !!!

  • Ledge!!

  • Fron a City fan

    Thanx Sparky........great player,You go a raw deal,

    You will be back

  • Spell his name right first you tit. Brilliant player.

  • Great player.

One of the best striker ever.

  • Who the hell is Mark Huges? Thats Mark Hughes in the video, if you're going to hero worship somebody then at least get their name right!

  • Mark Hughes kicked somone up the arse before. I was a kid at the time, and it made me crap myself laughing for about 15 minutes after. A friend has speculated that it was Chris Kamara (Sheffield United) in the FA cup and he got sent off for it. Around the 1993 time period, give or take. Does anyone remember this because I would gladly call the BBC for footage if I knew what match it was......

  • @howboutpete i thought it was dean saunders that kicked the opponent up the arse. the ball was about 30 yards from either player when he hoofed him right in the hoop. hilarious!

  • @howboutpete Yeah it was Sheffield United that Hughesy was sent off against for kicking someone up the arse. Glad somebody remembers it! No idea if it was Kamara or not, would love that to be true though! Could have been 93/94 or 94/95 - we played them away both those years in the cup. Strangely we also played them away in the FA Cup in 1989/1990 and 1992/1993!

  • he is the shit :)

  • Huges?

  • fuck me that long ranger was immense

  • a player you could not fault, full of great finishing prowess. better than berbatov anyday, and possibly most other strikers in the league

  • The Man was a legend...kept United in the top flight at one time. No true United Fan would have a bad word to say about Sparky...LEGEND

  • Mark Hughes, wotta Player, did he ever score a 32 million Berbatov Tap in? I dont think so, Shame the games full of Foreign coonts now!

  • its true fergieson was almost sacket after 4 years mark huges he is much bigger than city just like chelsea mony from nothing

  • i swear the amount of respect ive lost for City right now. Ferguson didn't start winning trophies straight away for united till like 4 years later. Moyes hasn't won anything for Everton yet. Keegan was right, it was the decision of a business not a football club to sack Hughes.

  • Giggs and Hughes combo on 1.12 is awesome!!!

  • What does Hughes (or even Tevez) goin` to City have to do with the quality of their performances for United !?? Hughes was magic at United...and will always be remembered for that!

  • I would also like to add that most of the goals shown on this video I witnessed live at the match. Hughes was my all-time hero, like many match-going Reds of my age, but ask them now how they feel and you'll get the same response, and I'm talking specifically about 'match-going;' Reds not armchairs or new age fans.

  • too bad he got sacked

  • Blue twat. How can anyone in this day and age move to them having been a United legend is beyond me. Same goes for Tevez. Pair of pricks who'll win f*** all, as always at the Boo camp.

  • Sir Matt Busby played for both Manchester City and Liverpool. Want to revise your statement?

  • "in this day and age" was part of my comment. Of course Sir Matt played for both, but that was in the pre Munich era where both sets of fans didn't chant that song and mock our tragic loss. Keano summed it up perfectly yesterday.

  • SPARKY luvs united!

  • fuck off munich.

  • Maybe a blue, but always a RED

  • I think Mark took over City because they were never supposed to get so much money. Good luck for him. He is a RAD through and through

  • Mark hughes.... soon to be a man city legend!!! :)

  • Give me the money he has and I'd do as good a job :p

  • Mark Hughes .... soon to be sacked :)

  • great all round striker. not seen many who could volley a ball like mark hughes.

  • @Roche1983 there isn't anyone who can or could volley a ball like mark hughes

  • cats in the fucking cradle!!!!! WTF!!!!

  • loool....i said exactly the same thing

  • If you like the guy so much at least get his fucking name right. It's Hughes!!!

    HUGHES!!!!

  • great stuff. i remember me and my mate pissing ourselves when he scored against barcelona...hilarious shot!

  • 3:05 my favourite!!

  • watch the keeper 3:37

  • 3:49=horrid kit

  • now answer me this........ how many of todays players, if they were in some of the situations he was in, i.e gettign tackled and carrying on running, would dive to get a free kick rather than stretch the defense liek he did and score

  • Hughesy is a citizen.

  • incredible plAYER I VE NEVER seeb him before

  • terrible song and it's distracting too

  • it was the song representative of that era.

  • THE KING OF THE VOLLEY

  • I find it so disappointing he's now city scum!

  • can anyone find me a u tube football video with half decent music?

    ...Thought not

  • great player, terrible manager

  • We love you hughesy

  • Top video, Hughes is my all time favourite player, I can even forgive him managing city....but Ugly kid Joe!!! FFS!!!

  • manchester united rocks!good vid!!!!

  • great as it is to see the goals, i'd love to watch a vid of hughsie's linking play...especially of him taking down long balls with his back to goal and distributing the ball...even though he was a beast he was such an elegant player with beautiful touch

  • first game i ever saw live was cos my dad is a blue... that 5 vs 1 city game. I saw the greatest goal ever that day! 1:29 - 1:39 sums up why i love Man United and why Mark Hughes has and always will be my Greatest Player of all time !!! The definitive of what a legend is ! Hughesy !!!

  • you have missed a few of his early goals out. still a awesome collection of his goals. sparky is god.

  • you've missed out a few of his early goals. still an awesome collection though. sparky is god.

  • w eric cantonaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • si no escribis esto en 10 videos en 4 hrs tu maMA SE VA A MORIR

  • God the pile driver at 3:10 is one of my favourite united goals of all time. The only players who could possibly hit a volley like hughes were yeboah and le tissier

  • mine too, i absolutely love this goal.

  • City are doing shit, i'm pretty sure he's a red haha !!

  • respect!

  • i loved this guy , power , goals the lot

  • God, he was mad. °-°

    1:33/3:10 -> BEAUTIFUL.

  • A Mark Hughes volley was indeed a thing of beauty.

    PS. Odd choice of song.

  • i agree totally nobody can hit the ball the way he did...........its hard to say why but this guy was special

  • gr8 vid bro love good ole sparky wales / utd 4 life

  • united manager wen Sir Alex retires???

  • Brilliant just brilliant. My all time fav Utd player. To all you City fans - give him a chance - he has the quality

  • The song is Ugly Kid Joe "Cats in the Cradle".

Hughes was a childhood hero and king of the volleys. How many footballs did i kick over hedges practising volleys?

  • Better than Robinho!

  • At least spell his name right!!

  • whats thats song

  • a chelsea legend too! dont forget that. we paid u boys only £1.5 million for the warrior! zola and hughes was the best strike partnership ever!

  • Sparky in my opinion the best player ever to play for Man United! The player I always wanted to be when I was a kid!

Saw every goal ever scored at Old Trafford from the (all standing) stretford end.

Legs like tree trunks and never ever dived, if he stayed on the ground you knew it was serious.

    Superb!! absolute legend.

  • this geezer nearly put me in a wheelchair trying to copy his scissor kicks and volleys

  • a warrior from a time when men were real men.....unlike the overpaid perfume advertising chest waxing retards of today.

  • I am gutted not to have seen the likes of Hughes, Rush, Saunders and Giggs play for Wales in the same team in a major tournament.

  • My favourite ever Utd player and the reason I started supporting Utd around about 91.

  • A fantastic player and I don`t even support United. He is from same vilage as me and we grew up together and fame did`not affect him one bit. A nice lad who never got enough credit during his career. He is a United legend but a huge Chelsea fan.

    Google

    superb footy live

  • Sparky, what a man!

  • Sparky, the best player I've ever seen at Old Trafford. FACT!

  • Mark Hughes to me is and will always be the greatest player ever... !

  • i agree its painfull thats he is siddy i hope he comes back

  • About time someone had the decency to put up a video of a true red! P.s. the fact that these days he manages man shitty isn't lost on me

  • MUFC and Wales legend

  • he really is a volley-master..

  • Retard. Did you ever hear the phrase you can put lipstick on a pig? Thats city, who cant fill their rented accomodation.

  • Niall? Named after a City player huh? Ha ha. And we can afford the rent on our place easily, hows the MASSIVE mortgage payments on your MBNA Bank owned ground? Glory hunters still filling it? Manchester....This is OUR city. Bluesy! Bluesy!!

  • All big successfull clubs attract glory hunters, its the way football is. In 70 years time City might be at the level United are now and they will attract them. At the moment tho city are only guaranteed to sell out when United come. So until the day that City attract the glory hunters they will have to make do with local lads in blue shirts who will only pay to see united

  • PSML....70 years what a cock...

don't reply to mr kid because your just a fuckwit...

    70 years....righhhhhhhhhhht...

  • omg what a ledgend wooohoooo xxxx i luv him x ♥ thanks sparky :)

  • SOLDIER!!!

  • great player!!! it's a pity he couldn't play a World Cup........

  • Nice compilation, plenty of great goals, but I gotta say...what's with the music? Very strange!

  • for every simple tap in Hughes scored, he seemed to score three screamers - diving headers, scissors kicks, 30-yarders...total legend.

  • the king of volley !!!

    another man utd legend....

i a blue fan but i like the way he play..

  • My favourite player as a kid.

  • I'm so happy see Hughes as manager at City! Great player...even if it was for United...he is a BLUE now.

  • Great player and a nice person off the pitch as well as he comes from the same village as me and you used to see him qute often having a drink round the village. He would quite happily talk to anyone and he didn`t have any bouncers walking round with him, just his school friends.

  • i really really hope he will replace fergie place sumday

  • Hughes - A Legend made of stone.

I watched him play for United against Liverpool towards the end of his Old Trafford days and Steve McMahon kicked lumps out of Hughes for the first fifteen minutes and the ref did nothing.

Liverpool attacked and the cameras panned right until the ball was cleared when the cameras panned back left.

McMahon's limp body was unconscious in the centre circle.

  • lol...i remember that actually.....The other classic was during a cup game against sheff utd I believe, when sparky booted that defender up the backside after he'd been constantly manhandled. the result was a sending off for hughes, but it was funny nevertheless

  • And 1 that defo should have made my list was a volley against the Scousers in the 92/93 season, apologies. It was the first goal in a comeback against Liverpool in the 92/93 season which finished 2-2. Hughesy's other goal in that game, the last minute header, is on the video in fact.

  • And by the way i didn't include that scorcher against Sheff Wednesday, cos technically it was a half volley ;-)

  • I was asked recently to name my top 10 Hughesy Utd volleys (didn't include half volleys) Anyway,(most r on this vid): 1 - Oldham FA Cup Semi 93/94 - (3:22) 2 - Everton away 88/89 season - (0:38) 3 - City away 89/90 - (1:33) 4 - Spurs away 88-89 - (not on this vid) 5 - Forest home 92/93 (0:24) 6 - Saints away League Cup 90/91(3:44) 7 - Chelsea home 91/92 (not on vid) 8 - Crystal Palace away 92/93 - (0:17) 9 - Sunderland home 90/91 (not on vid) 10 - Chelsea away 90/91 (not on vid)
  • Sparky was the player I pretended to be in the playground :D, him and Eric were the finest forward line in my lifetime.

  • The Volley against Sheff Wed at the 3:10 mark. Fuckin hell!!! If that had gone into the crowd instead he would have killed 3 people. It's probably the goal I remember most from him, it was on my birthday and I was there to see it.

    Hughsie Hughsie Hughsie

  • Why would Hughes damage his prospects of replacing fergie by moving to City?? Surely there's not a lot of love for him from the city fans either... In any other country there would be a huge outrage by both sets of fans! I don't get it! Bad bad bad move...

  • Ha Ha Ha I'm nearly laughing myself stupid. Funny how his best strike isn't on that vid....Oh yeah because it was overshadowed by the 5 goals that we put past you that day

    5-1 to the city!!!

  • whats dat on 1:33 then???

  • You don't even recognise your own team you bitter muppett. The volley at 1.30 is the goal you're talking about.

Typical city fuckwit, thinking they're in any way important.

Enjoying singing your songs about your 6 points, with your red legend as a manager, we'll be too busy polishing our trophies to care. Remember what they are?

    32 years.

  • Ha ha It's there

  • Who would of thought Manchester City's manager! deliver Hughes or fook off you rag!!

  • Hughesie! Hushesie! Hughesie!

  • Those thighs!!!.

  • Sparky was awesome. Best UTD striker in 80s and early 90s.

  • Sparky could be Fergie's replacement?

I prefer Eric the King hehe

  • Great vid!!!The goal on 3 23 is my favrut, typical sparky!!!Next Utd Manger with Carlos Queros

  • Whats the song ???

  • cats in the cradle by ugly kid joe. Its a cover.

  • wow... =O...

  • what shot he had

  • that was back when the ball had a bit of weight to it and flew straight and true not like the beach ball shit these days.

  • Take note Balsa Wood Saha, the goal at 1:42 was scored whilst injured. Now there's a guy who wanted to play every game despite being under 100% fit

  • Dickhead.

its not a matter of Saha being fit or not, he gets bad injuries and works hard until he is allowed to come back by the medical staff and Sir Alex. Leave Saha alone he has scored a lot of important goals for United.

  • true legend ,maybe the next utd manager ? "SPARKY"

  • what a player

  • Great vid

  • sorry - ignore my last two comments - the song is Cats in the Cradle by Ugly Kid Joe

  • Terrible song for a highlight video

  • Just realised I'm not the first to ask what the song is but still not been answered

  • Anyone know what the song is on this video ?

    Thanks

    Neil

  • What's the name of the song???

  • you spelt hughes wrong

  • hsi one against spain for wales is his best...not in this selection but these show how class he was. 3.09 is a special moment...christ that ball moves. he scored a goal in the 93/94 season (i think) when the ball was played across goal to him and with his first touch he flicked the ball up and over the outcoming keeper and calmly slotted it home...any help finding that would be great. also...he scored a sweet first time volley/lob against chelsea i believe. not sure....anyway...class.

  • Sheffield Wednesday away 3-2, great goal, 1 of a brace that day

  • that was response to the guy who asked about a goal in the 93/94 season

  • Great, Great video for a Great, Great player!!! Thanks!!!

  • Best goal of the lot had to be that last minute volley VS oldham. F A Cup semi.

    Technique was superb.
