I first heard this one in the 1990s when I bought a Rhino-released CD of instrumental surfing songs (vol. 5 in a History of Instrumentals series). This became one of my favorite songs on this CD.
The cover art was what attracted me to this album when I first discovered it years ago in a record shop. I'd never heard of them at the time but loved the album cover so I bought it.
