well most people ive seen just pull up hard enough to break their line, or they just cut it, other jackass's try to bring it up...(its illegal to keep)
I agree the name's a bit confusing. Call it a mahi-mahi if you want. Either way the bastards are gorgeous, great fighters, and AMAZINGLY tasty. Best fish I ever ate.
@mehcaraminiu Some people like to eat humans like you. You said "How can you survive without meat?" grow a brain 1st. Oldest woman in Singapore 113 year old has been veg her whole life I've been veg for over 10 years. How can this stupid comment be allowed to stay on here? That's a better question.
Well its okay, usually if a fisherman is gonna gaff the fish than that means that he plans to eat it and really does not want for it to get away at the last second, it has happened to me and I almost lost my hand, 6 foot Baracuda came by with huge teeth and it tore my est. 25lb Lady Amberjack to shreds in 2 strikes, left me with a big old head and not much body. But I do agree don't gaff the fish if you plan to throw it back, just the blood coming out in the water is enough to make it a target.

I just can say that you are idiots!!!!! Dolphins are living beings, as you are!!! they feel pain, they can suffer too!! And I wish you that you can feel this dying pain as much as dolphins do!!!!!! Die motherfuckers!!!!
its a dolphin fish, not the mammal, its just the type of fish around north Carolina. But theres some nasty shit videos in China where they do eat dolphin. Do you still feel the same!?
calm the fuck down dude....its one of the spiecies that can be hunted and still sustain its normal population...also hey u got to eat some time...also its a fucking fish not the mammal dumb ass...
its actually the exact opposite... these fish are among one of the few species that can sustain normal numbers despite being fished commercially and recreationally. I believe the average life span is 3 yrs., so they grow pretty fast. By the time you catch a legal fish, it would have died soon enough.
That wasn't fake.... I cought my first ever Dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi) in May 2007 just outside of Mobile Bay Alabama 5 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico...I was told that that was pretty far north for that time of year for them... Global warming I guess.
Outer banks, North Carolina. I've seen some monster dolphin postings on here, kinda makes my fish look small.. but I bet we had more fun catching him!
