  • DAMMIT EU GIMME A BLOODY GLOFISH!

  • they sell those things at walmart for like $4 a fish, but they are kinda bigger than the ones in the video.

  • how long do they live

  • What they are is Zebra Danios injected with jelly fish dna, coral dna, etc. Look them up on wiki.

  • gr8

  • PVP WAS WATCHING THIS WITH NYLA :)

  • fishy

  • Hmph these chiniese scientists. What if we use to them the Fluorescent Protein they used on the fishes. Now that would be better.

  • *puts on glasses* Something's fishy here...

  • I would love some of these.

This glow has no bad effects to the fish right?

  • my roommate just bought 3 for our dorm! :)

  • Beautiful aquarium. I like your videos. have a nice day.

  • @AdmiratorK Why thank you! You too!

  • WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP STEALING MY DAMN HIGHLIGHTERS

  • People are talking about two different things here. There are some fish in pet stores that are injected with dyes, but these ones are obviously genetically engineered.

  • in my college chem class we put this jellyfish gene into bacteria, cant remember what kind. as for the risk of it "contaminating" a local population i HIGHLY doubt it would. Any predator looking in the water would be like ooh glowing food! *nom* unless they only glow under black light, which it kinda looks like. still its a gene that doesn't really effect the fish in any other way id have no problem with a community of glowing minnows -_^.^_-

  • these fish would save people

    in black outs.

  • bastards stole my highlighters

  • i have a pink and yellow greenish one(:

  • I had a pink one named Flower. She died. :'(

  • WOW TAT IS FROM THE BFF COMERCIAL xD

  • Avatars of the fish world

  • To all those ignorant people talking about dye and other false stuff... Have you heard of genetic engineering?

Your brains must be made in China.

  • The jellyfish gene is called GFP or Green Fluorescent Protein and when the organism glows or expresses this trait, it is used as a marker to identify that a gene of interest that was also on the same recombinant DNA/ plasmid was successfully uptaken by the new host.

This technique won a Nobel Prize and has been a leading marker in genetic studies for the last 15-20 years.

  • 55 people think they're dyed.

  • the best nigh lamp :D

  • there people go playing god again >.>

  • @CherryCoveredCow well we are arent we> we created the idea of god>>>>>>...... :)

  • @sammymunir Even Petco And Petland!

  • where i can buy this kind of fish

  • @nollido petsmart they have them there

  • @nollido petco petsmart your local fish store there called glofish they come in yellow green and pinkish purple

  • Comment removed

  • kwankwankwan koshen wowowowaiowai shingenhinlaou koshajihu

  • Those are beautiful :]

  • Everything is mutant now even human....X-Men

  • Neon tetras? Natural Glowing fish that can reproduce. This is just, abuse.

  • @CpWiser10 how so? the fish look helthy and happy

  • @mewmaster151 well, For starters, injected chemicals into fish, I'll admit, They do look cool, But its like nutering fish. Which, is...Wow.

  • where can i find this protein ?

  • @MrDjenty from jellyfish :) sayd in the video ;p

  • i live in ca i went to petsmart to get a glofish but they said that there illeagl in ca

  • ewww mutant fish!

  • I had two pink glo fish (the thin and fat) but never knew that they were supposed to glow. I didn't notice it. The fat one died and I gave away the thin one.

  • do they have 2 be in light for them 2 glow?

  • 50 inch tank full of these guys would make my house soothing and peaceful...plus the music

  • i have 2 glow fish and it is so cool how they glow

  • :57 start there.... and these people are so trying to make it sound like it is not a big deal, don't listen!

  • 1:00!! see what i mean!!

  • i just put my first video up =D i need views please!!!!Need likes and subscriptions!!!!!!!!!!!! =D

  • these are awfully bred genetic fish! killed all the fish in my tank and soon killed themselves. genetic mutations are not good! BEWARE! DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!!!!!! Please, all people i know who have been lured into getting them have made a very bad mistake. all of thos people ended up with an empty tank!

  • @MoonLakeManor You just didn't partner them up with fish they can tolerate. Each fish has certain species they can tolerate. Just like people buying tiger barbs and angelfish, and complaining that their aggressive tiger barbs fucked up their delicate angelfish.

  • these are awefully bred genetic fish! killed all the fish in my tank and soon killed themselves. genetic mutations are not good! BEWARE! DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!!!!!! Please, all people i know who have been lured into getting them have made a very bad mistake. all of thos people ended up with an empty tank!

  • Hell, I'd pay for these. (not a lot though)

  • put them in a glass bottle and you got a lava lamp

  • I worked in the pet industry for six years in the late 80s and most of the 90s, and we had these type of fish for sale, as well as some other breeds, particularly glowing glass fish. You're not going to like my answer... they were injected with flourescent dye. This is a scam! And yeah, probably a black light is involved. They tend to be very delicate fish and are often rammed in the side by other fish, because of the bright coloring.

  • @CheriS33 I agree, I have known about the fish injected with the dye. I'm wondering how they bred these fish (to be price friendly) when they come out sterile and can't breed afterward. I'm very skeptical and I think real fish enthusiasts will stray away from this.

  • @tehaleks these fish are actually not injected with dye. they were "invented" by injecting DNA from a sea anemone into a female danio or tetra egg. kind of like artificial insemination. and then when the egg hatches and the fish becomes an adult they look like this. after that they breed and the new babies carry the DNA and are "naturally" like this and do not require injections or lasers of any sort. think of it as crossbreeding plants.

  • @xXxT0MBstonexXx Well thanks, I learn something new each day. :D

  • @tehaleks and theyre not sterile either. the ones that get laser colored are sterile

  • @tehaleks there glow fish and they color is from jelly fish

  • @tehaleks they are strickly geneticaly altered we learned about these in my bioligy class

  • @CheriS33 These are NOT dye injected. The fish are expressing a fluorescent protein. These fish (Danio rerio) are among the most commonly used animals in the world for genetic testing (a full genome has been available for quite some time), so its not as though this is something unheard of.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the subject, but it seems plainly obvious that these fish are perfectly fine and unaffected by the expressed protein.

  • the fish are FLOURESCENT, this has nothing to do with bio luminescenc. there is a black light shining down on the fish... duh... notice the black light activated fake grass... god you people are lame... go to wal-mart... fish section... less than $5

  • There is a Natrual glowing feature in some fish, Bioluminescence.

  • @cubefilms35 Really now? >.> There's a difference between "florescence" and "bio-luminescence".

  • aww they're pretty

  • OMG -___- fucking chines

  • DJFWBGFBDHDFSKBGKJBFGNKJFJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:DDDDDDDD I WANT ONE

  • this is going to be my new bait.... come on walleye

  • so if i feed fluorescent protein from jellyfish to my betta it would glow ?

  • Thumbs up if the TED talk about making Dinosaurs sent you here!

  • like those used in the concerts>>>

  • do these fish glow without assistance of flourescent backlighting, like those glow in the dark cats, or can u switch off every light in the room and see them plain as day?

  • @nobodyitellyou they are florescent, not bioluminescent.

  • GRACE IT IS MOI~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :))

  • whats the name of this fish?

  • Its true that they can contaminate local populations with their glowing genes; but it is true too that a fish with a colour so explosive, like those colours in the video, will be detected and predated by any fish bigger immediately.

  • my mom had 1... it died. =(

  • what if humans take fluorescent protein, will we be able to glow as well? holy shit, that will be sick! or awesome?

  • Awesome! I want them! >.<

  • thier actually called glofish

  • i saw these at my pet store but there all gone now

  • GMO

  • hey! wherez the vid of the glowing elephant?

  • Yeah Japan, those fuckers gave them chemicals for their colour. Same goes for coloured easter chicks.

  • truly very kwl. THUMBS UP FOR TOMATO JUICE

  • coooooooooooooooooool

  • I wonder if my poop would glow if i ate some of these?

  • @MrRockhardman Only one way to find out..

  • Ok conqueror!

  • @Gesquel80 :D

  • @death6998 ()()IIIIIIIIIIIIID-----------:D

  • @Gesquel80 XD

  • @death6998 Wow. Didn't expect racism from Spain. Pinche gallego, les das mala imagen a los demas espanoles.

    F U Approved from California

  • @Lisimal Hey I am talking to a friend here fuck off

  • i want those at my parties!

  • I wouldn't worry about those 'glow-in-the-dark' fish contaminating the rest of the fish population because before they can mate with normal fish....They 'will get eaten up very, very fast by all the other big fish because they are so easy to see!

  • @12235117657598502586 whats the worts could happen its not like they be come atomic boom fish all that happens is more glow fish so woppy fucking do chines man i dont care as long they dont die am happy

  • @HEAVYMETALGODS86feb9 Get off your trolling period bro.

  • this would be an interesting aspect of the future, an entire new species of a kind of animal resulted from scientific experiments

  • Cruel and sadistic.

  • @k9sabian This is actually a pretty humane modification of an animal. Tattooing, staining, inbreeding, and injecting are all far worse. These fish has a relatively normal lifespan and don't suffer the way store bought guppies, bettas, glassfish, or albino cories do.

  • @k9sabian no pig farms are we eat fish dude its no like they have fellings and have any fun things to do in life like a dog dose all a fish do all day swim eat shit and sleep and to be looked at all day by humans in a tank WOW FUN ANIMAL... NOT lol

  • poor fishies. :(

  • those fish are illegal

  • They aren't sterilized. I have personally bred them. It's pretty darn easy. They just want to make you buy them from them for exorbidant prices. @Muppephile Zebra Danios are in fact native to china and have been widely introduced elsewhere. These genetic modifcations make these fish stand out like a sore thumb though and they would likely be gobbled up in the wild. @ AToastyxoxo These are gentically engineered, they even give birth to colored zebra danios so the color is genetic.

  • @purdumjm lol ..... whaaaa?

  • THEY BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS YA FK HOLE I HAD SOME 9 YEARS AGO FFS

  • I bought some Glo fish after seeing this video.

  • Unless zebra danios live in china, there will be no danger of contamination of the local population...

  • glofish

  • @mrsclause1 wow really a guy said it as the top comment already...

  • wow!!!

  • damn scientists took my highlighters!

  • @MrsClause1 lol XD

  • These were zebra danios that some cruel people stuck needles into to make them so bright like that. They werent born like that.

  • @AToastyxoxo eh most of them are actually born this way, they are genetically altered to produce GFP or some other fluorescent protein. Their offspring will also be fluorescent, no needles needed :)

  • so cool

  • crazy crazy china...

  • nice and rndomgrl369 i did!!!

  • who turned off the light and watched this video?

  • there called glowfish

  • i wonder if i drink that...will i glow?

  • pause 0:38 it says director of zesearch talking crap

  • THEY NEED TO SELL THESE!

  • @gosteelelersandpie

    They do :/

  • rave party anyone :D?

  • I bet if they put glowsticks in the tank with them, theyd try to mate with them. :D

  • The Big Bang Theory, Season 1, Episode 4 or 5 they talked about inventing Fish Night Lights, glow in the dark fish. Funny. I thought they were making it up. The writers must have know about this already.

  • will it blend?

  • I have three kinds of each color Pink,Green, and Orange they are so crazy at night

  • I'd like to see a glowing chameleon

that will take us to the disco

  • Thats sexy

  • Rave fish!

  • despite what they say they feed them phopheris dyes its pretty cruel and sadly nothing new

  • @WombatHide ***Bullshit Alert!!**

  • @WombatHide lol i have some and i give them fish food

  • @WombatHide quit bitchin

  • i want to glow!!!!!!

  • @lightgaiafan123

stfu. You glowing will be the day you'll die.

  • @Xelaus1 hey, thats my cousin your talking to, and i let her use my account, so dont troll her

  • @lightgaiafan123

    too late

  • @lightgaiafan123

You're just askin' for a trollin'

    @DomoTheMonsterr

Don't be stupid. You don't take on the attributes of your food just because you consumed it.

  • avatar

  • they sell them at my petsmart for 5 dollars

  • i saw some at a fish store in long beach, California

  • Wheres the rolls, these guys are coming to my next rave

  • Cool i always wondered how they made them

  • best roll toy, ever

  • where can i get some?

  • @bipolarnutcase at the beginning it says Taipei, Taiwan, so im guessing you have to go there to get them

  • @bipolarnutcase well, yesterday i got mine. i got them at petsmart and they have some at petco too. btw, they r called glofish. they r 2.98-5.98 in price. expensive for the lil fisies

  • It concerns me that we are risking the health of fish to make them look "pretty"

It is a cool discovery, but I don't think we should have mass productions of glowing fish.

  • @jazzistar727 oki first off, the flouresence is natural which means it doesnt hurt them. the fish can live as long if not longer the the zebra danio which is the type of fish it came from

  • @obbandrox hope your son born with flouresence skin

  • @KoiBR wtf....and that would be pretty cool but impossible without the parents being flouresence or being geneticly modified

  • @obbandrox so if i take what the fish take will i glow? and if its so safe want to try it?

  • @apbhitman no? what kind of question is that? they live just as long... dont be stupid, u need to have the egg injected(aka be4 u wre born)

  • Cool I want one!!

  • what chu tawkin about willis?>

  • gmo tetras....how sad

  • Where can i purchase one

  • @Zeroes123 petsmart, petco, anypetstore...except in california if u live in the U.S.A

  • Oh my they are beautiful.... O___O

  • I want some

  • how do they sleep?

  • what about GloFish u can buy at petsmart?
