Bowen went on to become one of America's most successful producers. Lanier went on to a successful career as a songwriter. Knox continued playing periodically until he died at age 65, in Canada. His last performances were mostly for charity and in Rest Homes, I've read. I met him once & he was quite a nice, humble man even at age 30, after all his early sucess!
No Buddy Knox & Jimmy Bowen were not brothers! They appear to have met in college at Canyon,Tx--c.1955. And with Donnie Lanier & a drummer they formed a rockabilly band & recorded in Clovis,NM
Remember too that these songs were recorded on a single channel and unedited. In that regard each recording is a "live" recording. If Patsy Cline had Pro Tools to work with her albums woul have blown us away to this day.
Hello Ron Bowen. My name is Jim Lee. I teach music here at Central Arizona College with a fellow instructor named Ron Bowen he was Jimmies counsin. They grew up in Silver City New Mexico. Do you have a Jimmy Bowen Connection? We were just wondering.
I do not BUT you should tell Ron that he has a couple of family members looking for him! I live in Texas myself so I can understand people asking me if I'm related. Not that I know of! Ironically, I have only just recently deleted all of my youtube emails or I would forward them to you. :(

Jimmy Bowen's best as I recall was "Just Sitting in the Balcony." Would love to hear that one again!

It was Jimmy Dee (John D. Loudermilk) an Eddie Cohran covered it and had his first hit with it in 1957!
