Good pedal for your money. I bought mine in 95 for about AU$600 (US$640) and it never let me down once. It has always helped me to attain that heavy mid-low end Dimebag crunch from high settings. The only let down is the chorus, it sounds too sonic for me and not organic at all.
dimbag never ever used it. exept when he recorded with it.and when he wasent using it he never used it,becouse thats when he wouldent use it.of course this dosent apply when he was using it, To record I think? or make sound? apart from that I think he never used it.so realy he never used it. only when he had an amp. and never when he hadent. That clears it up,but thats another story
Thanks again for your help. One more thing if you can. I was thinking about playing a song one evening and I was going to use this pedel to try and recreate brian mays brighton rock solo sound, I sort of have the right sound but I need some better settings for the Modulation delay. The sound I want to create is from the video "Queen - 'Brighton Rock Solo' (Live At Wembley) " Thanks again
this unit also works good for getting the Allan Holdsworth lead tone, straight into a computer. check out my solo on '500 kilometers' on my channel. it also has wild effects like a sweep resonator, sample and hold filter, pitch shifter. i paid a hundred bucks for mine, good buy!
I have bought this second hand and I have noticed the pressure pedal does not go in all the way. I take it this is a fault with the pedal i.e. It doesn't have to be on some sort of setting?
@TheHoboClown23 the pressure pedal on these things is rock hard so if your using it on carpet for example you might not get it to push all the way down.. this happens to me but i don't like the pedal and intend to get the expression pedal instead.
@kingdarko Thanks for the help but I think it's something wrong with my pedal, most times it's like it's pushed in all the way, rare times it does work and I can push down on it to change the tone etc. Would you advise I should take it in for repair?
@TheHoboClown23 Sure you can do, or just keep a look out for another one, they seam pretty easy to find still and are relatively cheap. Although i am not sure on a repair cost i am guessing no one will have parts for the foot pedal even if it is faulty. With the repair costs it may be better to just by an expression pedal and bypass the pressure pedal altogether.
Mines so rock hard there is little to no control in the 0-100% at the moment i don't use it for anything because of it.
You know what most impresses me about that thing.... it's so quiet.
I've got a Randall X2 and no effects so i can get dimes main tone pretty well just no effects so i am thinking about buying one of these just to push it over the edge. Personally i think it's a great video there. Also Ariel's sounded amazing.
i have it since 96.. THE BEST FOR ME!! never i had a high gain distortion as the ax30g with a decent compression "without to use the compressor". i had many pedal and multi and pre. for me this pedal is the best.. any question? ask me!
Have (2) of them myself. Some of the best damn distortions you can find. Cool thing is the eq's have mid boosts, treb boosts, you can really tune in your crunch, or get some warm cleaner tube sounds. Kickass for a solid state effect pedal.
the korg ax30, for me, is one of the best pedal board. why? simple, it has ALL and with quite good quality, too if the sample rate is not to big. i paied in 1995-96 about 250 euro used.
I had one of these Korg devices 20 years ago when they were new.
I run Behringer pedals these days but the AX30G was a seriously nasty machine in the right hands. Even in bad hands you sounded good. I recorded from this device onto tape at the time and even then the sound was good on tape. Id buy one, if you can get your hands on one it is a vintage classic these days but still is a nasty piece of machinery in the right hands.
I've seen 'em pop up on ebay in the $70 - $80 range. Just search ax30g every week or so, and you'll find one. They are tough to dial in at first, but once you read the manual they can do alot + do it well.
