i think that a hoodie is a sweatshirt with a hood, as in it does not open/has no zipper, and then you can have a hooded jacket but that's different; it's just a jacket and not a hoodie

Bro, "Hood" is referring to the actual hood on the clothing, which may come independently from the clothing. "Hoodie" is a style of coat/sweater in which there is no zipper or button-up front. This style coat/sweater has a large pocket in front where the hands and personal items can be placed. ie: portable music player.
