While her earlier 1994 Violettas was fresher and perhaps more genuinely moving than this one, she's clearly more mature nowadays. I love her unique timbre and sensitive phrasing. I'm amazed at how people even lie to bash her, saying her voice is totally destroyed. I wish every destroyed voice sounded as beautiful and fresh as Gheorghiu's! I think this was a very beautiful performance.
Beautiful indeed. What she does in purely musical terms is so classy and inteligent it lifts this, her Milan Traviata, to a league of its own. The filth some of her bashers pour in their comments purely reflects their ignorance, bigotry and the narrowness of their ideas and tastes. There's no use in trying to be rational against such hostility.
I don't much care for her reading of the Germont letter, but I love the rest. It's interesting to see how this role has changed over the past several years for her.
Love her voice but her acting is HORRIBLE! Great example of a train wreck is the film version of 'Tosca' I was laughing the entire time...

She's not simply a wonderful singer ; she's a real actress ! Every move she does makes quite perfect her performance.

If "destroyed" voices sounded like Angela's, I would do everything possible to destroy mine!
