Well, United States is predominantly Catholic-Christian. Do they call themselves "modern christian country"? Or either, "christian democracy"? Why do they use islam as label for Turkey. We are a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC since 1923. Islam is just a religion which supposed to have nothing to do with the government. When they stick on us an islam label, Turkey look just like other islamic fundamentalist countries. Turkey's democracy is actually very close to many E.U. countries.

1) What is "modern Turkey with its' own culture"? It could be mean anything. Does that mean It's more islamic? Because if you pretend islam as the only culture of Turkey. It's wrong. When it comes to modernizm Yes! there is actually only one modernizm, which is being a westernized democracy......

2) Whoever says that you can be a modern muslim country is lying. Turkey is not a modern muslim country. Turkey is a democratic republic since 1923 that has the constitution. This constitution is a combination of swiss-french and german laws...I can talk a lot more of being a complete democracy, but I'm tired of that too.

Probably every person in Turkiye likes "Obama" much more than "Bush". But that's not the point. The piont is: Obama can not change non of the policies of The United States on Turkiye. U.S. has an agenda about Turkiye and it's already written. This agenda tells us that U.S. wants Turkiye more muslimized while it keeps its democracy. I must tell its impossible. After eight years of constant struggle and a presidency that ignored one of the most important parts of the world with the exception of using war and threats, President Obama is doing the right thing by trying to restore bridges.
