  • one and only. love him.

  • Could be about the evil side which everyone's got.

Could also be a portrait of Eva Braun^^ Who could really know? It like trying to understand a schizophrenic.

    Fucking love it though.

  • "And I fell into a deeper precipice

    With mouths of rapists"

    what does that mean?!

  • From corspes flower grow, beautiful isnt it?

  • @11Federika baudelaire, read it

  • This is a beautful. This song has nothing to do with Nazism or Hitlerism.

  • It's suggesting that we all have evil within us, a lil' bit of the fuhrer lurks within us all - each day temptation is presented to us all, we must make the right choice; it's also about HIV - wanting it and not wanting it wanting to spread it but hating the very thought of that. from the corpses flowers grow - i.e from all of this shit some good can come, it's a sublime piece of writing and singing, has to be up there as one of the all time "i don't know what's" but it has to be up there...

  • what is this song about?

  • @18karahiri It's about Lars Von Trier

  • is it me or at 1min 9sec he sits on a something rather painful :D

  • @DeathToTV4Sweden

This has nothing to do with nazi's you stupid cunt!

  • @catsaica

You should love the man who would tear your face off and gouge out your eyes without regret? You love this man unnaturaly and beg on the floor for his mercy? Hate is natural.

I hate certain people. I lack compasion. At least I do not have a mental disorder, and that is called falling in love with your captor. It is similar to loving your rapist.

  • Hatred nourishes evil !.... When you forgive transform hatred into love ....!

It's the only way to have peace on earth!

Forgive those who caused all the evil, they knew no better!

  • just take it as you hear it , it means different this to all, as a classy track which makes you think

  • this is music at its beast no matter what language you speak ,this song WILL effect you it trancends the spoken word .salvador woody the greatest artist in the world today ................

  • Great song, not only original lyrics-music as well!

  • Fucking good song, nothing ethical in my mind

  • For me its christal clear: Don't you folks know the dictator in your hearts who pushes through mercyless, without any empathy even though you're down on the floor and only seek peace and kindness in your hearts?

  • the thule gesselschaft set out to free to world of 'evil', then discovered in the process that they had become an engine of genocide. altruism often transforms into cruelty if it is in denial of its own shadow. one must accept that one is capable of evil if one is to make the choice to love. if hitler is the symbol of evil to the west, then peace comes of forgiving and accepting him as part of self.

thus the flowers grow from the corpses.

  • Can someone please explain to me what this song is about, if it's not about the obvious?

  • @FakeFaced If you have ever listened to an interview or any other music by Antony Hegarty you would be sure it is not about the obvious! He is more for equality and peace than most artists. To me this song seems to be about himself trying to search for the best in everything and not always been able to, and the name Hitler is nothing more than a symbol for hate. The song also seems, to me, about the fact that you have to except hate in order to embrace and choose love.

  • @vickersm03 Thank you so much. I know Antony Hegarty is a very good man, at least that's the impression I've gotten from his songs and interviews. I just couldn't figure out what this song was about. But great explanation, really made all the difference for me.

  • i love youtube for letting us hear good music and watch good videos, but mostly for making me feel smarter after reading some of these preposterous comments. If If everyone could please continue to make bold statements and sweeping generalizations based on the very little you know about anything, that would be great! I know where to go when I want a free ego boost! THANKS, YOUTUBE!!!

  • I'm quite certain I was a victim of the holocaust in a life lived long ago. Though I ache to shed that pain, I still feel it.

  • @Burnierodgersrocks

Only the Jews who are as witless as you. Those with more than two brain cells to rub together can handle it, I'm sure.

  • @bigstereo You sound like a complete cunt

  • Awesome.

  • His Music is not something to listen to, it is truly a experience, thank you antony, especially to the needed ear's..............

  • What a bold aespect of the Heart, what else is there to say, There is a lot of truth in his lyric's, if you been abused this material makes perfect sense, but it dos'nt make it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Parece cueca, jajaja, Gran Banda esta.

  • Antony suffers in the song with the tortured souls, how one can doubt it. The song is sung so sensitive not superficial. Listens well then you will understand.

  • hahaha!!!

  • Sphere existence, i agree with you. this song enhances the dark side of the heart . Love. great singer.love. Micha

  • Muito bom, boa cançao

  • amaaaaaazing :D

  • great indeed.

Maybe he means that there's a little hitler in his heart/mind and that hitler is telling the rest of his mind and body to be mean and sad.

sorry, those were just my thoughts..

    however; great great song

  • A hint of Stockholm syndrome maybe?

"Don't punish me, for wanting your love inside of me..."

    That's an interesting thought....

Or perhaps he is using "love" as a way of saying "Don't punish me for wanting that bit of evil"...in his heart Hitler...lol.

    Good song, none the less.

  • NICE GREAT SUBLIME WONDERFUL

  • The song reveals a hidden aspect of our hearts. And we all eventually must confront this, in our particular way.

  • from the corpses,

    flowers grow...

    precious mind.

  • blablablaaaa. Stop bitching.

  • great great great

  • All those who thinks he is a Nazi lover and supporter of oppression I ask you one thing. Do you know that he is gay and has a side project (Hercules And Love Affair) made of gays and transgender?

  • Wait he's gay? I thought he wrote the song Bird Gehrl for his Wife who died??

  • He's transgendered. He never had a wife, and he only dates men :)

  • People are often so dull. They do not understand this artist. He is great.

  • @AnaNord Just so you know, it's 'she'. Antony identifies as a woman.

  • read the text before sayin' bull**its :)

    that's magic

  • Oh, okay. He doesn't seem like the nazi type, that's all. Because he's sung about how wrong the Clu Clux Clan are. And nazism isn't very far away from that.

  • sorry to point this out but its ku klux clan

  • sorry to point this out but its ku klux klan (KKK)

  • hahaha ur right lol i'm such a numpty!!!!! XD that was an epic fail there!

  • Comment removed

  • Has Antony really sung "Hitler in my heart". The song is great, but I didn't think he was a nazi? And I still don't think he is.

  • He is not a nazi, for sure. It is just a metaphore.

  • It's the most stupid thing I've heard. Ever.

  • Raise your hand if you are too stupid to realize humor.

  • Mentre cerco una briciola di gentilezza

    Trovo Hitler nel mio cuore

    E sta sussurrando

Quanto è vero che l'amore sboccerà

  • I'd love to se a colab between anhony and regina.

    Beautiful music!!!

  • Regina who?

  • incredible vocals and lirics!!

  • Could anyone out there tell me what this song is about please??

  • Read previous comments and you will find the hints. Anyway don't treat this song literaly. As someone below said- its nothing about nazizm.

  • He means that he find something bad in is heart. Its an old saying, nothing nazi about this song.

  • Recently discovered sources suggest it was used before the nineteentwenties.

  • which shouldnt make it any better at all because sometimes things happen that change the colour of words for a long time.

the song is fucking great and i dont mind political reasons in this context because text matches sense perfectly without even touching any racist meaning.

  • I just had a thought.

this should have been in the Valkyrie soundtrack, don't you think?

  • ah ha

    amazing

  • It's a kind of weird to hear a soulful white dude talking about hitler in his heart. But at the same time, good art isn't always easy to digest or understand

  • great lyrics. i guess, i would say that in germany, people would beat me off. very nice.

  • nah they wouldnt

  • you too?

  • finding the hitler in someones heart is a saying that i heard first back in the 90's, its not about being a nazi, it's about finding the absolute worst on ones self

  • why?

  • no but he means that everyone has evil in their heart (haha yeah that sounds corny), so everyone has a hitler in their heart. and i guess also, that hitler had love in his heart or something (i mean, he was horrible but he had to have SOME good in his heart.. idk :/

  • okay sorry :P

  • you're right. it's not a silly or playful thing to use the German history in such a context, it's just incredibly inadequate to search for love in Hitler's heart.

And I admire Antony and the JOhnsons too but this isn't their best.

  • you said that cause you dont found hitler in your heart

  • well SHOULD I?????

  • each of us has it/him

  • I prefer to think of mine as not a Hitler. But a mean little me. Hitler had a mean little Hitler. I Have A me. Same idea though, right?:]

  • you said so-if you prefer to think like that, than it is so... ;)

  • Yeah man, face up ;P

  • Shit, I pressed the down thumb. Sorry. I really love what you told.

  • I wish Hitler was bitten hardly

  • I understand those words... monsters sometimes are made by the fear of the crowds that don't thing there is a person on the other side...

But i warn you something... this is not a reason to go along with the sad history. I was in that position and i still sometimes. And i understand your point becouse i was decided to kill many persons that hurt me. But i not going to that path becouse it goes to the same result... revenge.

Threat someone like a monster is not for free..

  • @7plus77

Very true comrade, but comparing hitler to stalin is a grave innacuracy when stalin himself with his powerful red army was the one who ended the bastard and his Nazi army together with the Allied forces, we of america, britan and other countries owe a great, great debt to Stalin's army and to Russia itself.

  • @7plus77

    NONSENCE

Stalin is not comparable, do not even go there.

  • Of course it does. It means that all good are a little wicked and vice versa. In understanding this we can find forgiveness for even the most "unforgivable". Most can't take such a huge step for love.

This song doesn't glorify Hitler but brings him down to the level of human. Right or wrong, he went through what all humans go through.

  • god i love this band, nd yh, listen - the guy AINT sayin he wants to be hitler lol! :D

    mega :)

  • i know. i dont think u understood me.

    just a stupid provocation

  • No do, do be afraid

  • don't be afraid to feel like hitler

  • i´m not really sure about the right meaning. but i think there isn´t a right or a wrong.there are many ways to understand it. "As I search for a piece of kindness

And I find Hitler in my heart"

Maybe it should descripe the sadness and the loneliness in this world. he searched but found nothing than strangeness and coldness and so he founded hitler maybe a metaphor for the illness in the world.a metaphor for the madness which exist because of the way people interact with each other.

  • I didn't take him seriously at first, at all, but the music grew on me and when I actually paid attention i found it was ingenious. I sincerely enjoy it, it's intelligent and really interesting.

  • had just the same:)

  • people do not listen carefully anymore, its funny and actually very stupid people judge this song only by its title.

  • habla de mucha rabia

  • My mother and my sister got pretty mad at me for listening to this song, because they thought it was actually honoring Hitler xD. A little funny, but scary, whan your family thinks you are a nazi-thing o.o

  • "nazi-thing"

    Haha. I like your language.

  • genius

  • it's perfect, adooooooooooooooro!

  • vc é brasileiro? Será o primeiro que eu ouça dizer que gosta do Antony.

  • satans under my foreskin

    we've all got problems

  • Hola in Argentina,

Piensa primero antes que hablas I escribes tonterias.

  • era una joda capo

    i was joking duuuude

  • like Nicoco95310 says, "Everyone has a little evel in himself". Beautiful song.

  • I think he's saying that everyone has the potential to become evil, and the fight with yourself every day to not become it :)

    couldn't say for sure though.

  • I love this song!

  • "Hitler in my Heart" stands that you always try to be someone good but you have that little trace of evil in you. It's a human thing.

  • This is a damn great song, and I think hitler occurs as a metaphor, but can ANYONE try to explain what this metaphor stands for?? It's difficult for me to sing along "from the corpses flowers grow" and "i find hitler in my heart" without knowing exactly what the hell that means!! so please i need to know... thx a lot

  • Or maybe he just means that hitler lives in his heart?

  • it means that sometimes you can be in so much emotioal pain that you want to lash out at the world to try and get rid of your madness and pain

  • jajaja is stupid

  • i love you Antony..i love you..

  • I did a site spacific dance to this (in a church) about forgiveness, it was fantastic to hear this song echoing through the church and the stone beneath my feet. Much better than dancing in a dance studio. Beautiful scenery, beautiful music and beautiful movements best thing I ever did for my A Levels!

  • Ohhhh , such a great song...... such perfection .... such voice..... just waoooo .....

  • voice...only voice,without video tell soo much!wonderfull...;)

  • I was searching for a definition of exquisite, and this song is the closest thing I think I'll ever find - fabulous!

  • it's a pity there is no video for this great song

  • i love this song!

  • ahh, damn perfect!

  • no words

  • plz does anyone know if they gonna perform in NY city soon, im dying to see them. this is my favorite song used to listen to it really loud with headphones when I used to live in Sweden...another great song is I fell in love with a dead boy.thanks

  • wonderful :)

  • Pure love. I indeed have a little Adolf in my heart too. And he sings wonderfully. Fantastic.

  • Beyond!

  • could anyone tell me how to understand the meaning of theese lyrics..?

  • no :))

  • (for kubaszef) What anthony means is that everyone has a little evil in himself.

  • oooOOOOOooooOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • What a lovely song. We should all be so lucky to have hitler in our hearts.

  • LOL xD

  • Oh my God.

I am speechless...I have just had the most intense orgasm of the ears of my life.

  • It's a metaphor !! not a requiem for hitler !

  • allright..

  • allright ..

  • Metaphors rule (no pun intended)

  • this sounds a bit strange for me as a german ... like a requiem for hitler. Like the bad creates the good. But neverthless its very good lyric, helps seeing things in a different perspective

  • first of all the image of Hitler in this song is obviously a symbol representing hatred and contempt...and i think its odd you should view it as though it were actually somehow trying to honor Hitler, when the style in which it is sung bears such a strikingly close resemblance to Jewish cantorial music. Foo'.
