This probably will remove oily fingerprints but scratches…I don’t think so. I use to rub my CDs with alcohol, wash it with soap and hot water, but it didn’t fix scratches either.

@TheGrotesqueReality toothpaste is an abrasive, it will "clean" scratches by, essentially, scratching it more. Peanut butter will work to the same effect. if you "clean" it outward the laser will skip over the scratches instead of getting caught in the groove, much like a record.
