Arnel gets schooled by Deen on every trademark journey song that Deen takes over lead vocals. Journey music since infinity has always been about melody and phrasing and Arnel does not have a great sense of melody and his phrasing is simply not good.
Dont confuse and twist honest critique of Arnel and his vocal abilites for hate. That kind of fallacy and labeling only serves to circumvent the fact that Arnel simply does not measure up to Augeri when healty, to SP when healhty and to DC at this present time.
Arnels pronuciation, diction, vowel production and lack of ablity to sing softly but with power and focus in his tone is a distraction from the songs.
Arnel was one of the cheapest options to fill SP's shoes-not the best.

Arnel at least sounds more like Perry. When you can't have Perry, you get Arnel. This was not the best performance w. Arnel, I agree.
@SilverTounge85 Deen schools Arnel everytime he takes the lead vox on trademark Journey songs. Deen is simply just a better and more natural musican than Arnel. Talent is talent. Deen belongs to an elite group of musicans who can play and sing lead vocals at the same time and do it very well. It is sad that Augeri's voice was damaged. When healthy, he was a far better singer for journey music than Arnel. Journey music is about phrasing and melody-both of which Arnel is not great at.

I am a fan of SP too but with SP you get US partly EU. With Arnel, it opened to a whole different level. Not just the US & EU but also Asia got in to it and middle east as well. I'm not sure about the latin america. In terms of money? Do the math. It is not the vocalist alone that counts in a band, it is the whole band. Just appreciate people who do they're best. I am happy that there are more fellow JOURNEY fans out there now than before! That is a fact!

@swordkorn Arnel has never written songs that sell millions of records and that are played on the radio more than twenty five years after he wrote and recorded them. Because of SP, Arnel has a job-not the other way around.
Arnel gets schooled by Deen on every trademark journey song that Deen takes over lead vocals. Journey music since infinity has always been about melody and phrasing and Arnel does not have a great sense of melody and his phrasing is simply not good.

Dont confuse and twist honest critique of Arnel and his vocal abilites for hate. That kind of fallacy and labeling only serves to circumvent the fact that Arnel simply does not measure up to Augeri when healty, to SP when healhty and to DC at this present time.
Arnels pronuciation, diction, vowel production and lack of ablity to sing softly but with power and focus in his tone is a distraction from the songs.
Arnel was one of the cheapest options to fill SP's shoes-not the best.

@neechee5150 Augeri ruined his vocal chords, and became an embaressment towards Journey when they had to do shows with him using prerecorded vocals for several songs. When he could sing, he was great, but when you can't sing and fronts Journey...it's out. Saw them w. Jeff Scott Soto not long after Augeri was out, he did good, but not the right man. Arnel at least sounds more like Perry. When you can't have Perry, you get Arnel. This was not the best performance w. Arnel, I agree.

@SilverTounge85 Deen schools Arnel everytime he takes the lead vox on trademark Journey songs. Deen is simply just a better and more natural musican than Arnel. Talent is talent. Deen belongs to an elite group of musicans who can play and sing lead vocals at the same time and do it very well. It is sad that Augeri's voice was damaged. When healthy, he was a far better singer for journey music than Arnel. Journey music is about phrasing and melody-both of which Arnel is not great at.
