Hey guys I rescently posted a vid of my bearded dragon spike and it would really help me out if u viewed and left feedback telling me if its ok or if it needs improvements. thanks!
if a bearded dragon poops on a repti carpet what do you do cause if you pick it up (with a bag or something) it wont clear it all off? same with slate tile and all of that.
@TheLaxlaxlax well obviously you either havent got one or urs is underweight!!! mine did eat loads!!!! he ate 3 packets of crix in 2 days!!!!! yeah, fuck u !!!!
HEY ALL BEARDED DRAGON LOVERS!! LOVE BEARDED DRAAGONS!!!?? THEN CHECK OUT MY NEW CHANNEL!! WILL BE POSTING VIDEOS UP ALL THE TIME! CHECK IT OUT AND SUBSRIBE! :D
Iv been breeding for seven years and all my setup`s are very different to what you say is safe !! i have never had a problem with any of my hatchlings !!!!!
Okay, I have a 55 gallon glass tank, two deep domes, and a small clamp lamp. I want to get a bearded dragon but, I don't know what kind of bulbs to get or what wattage I need to have enough heat and UVB lighting for the dragon. I will be posting the same question on every dragon keeper's video until someone answers me!!! :-(
@greenizDAnublaque lol i seen this comment too many times lol use a 150 watt spot light bulb for heat this works best for me u can also use a 100 watt i use 150 cuz i always have my ac on n its kinda hard for me to keep the temp @ 100-115 i also use a 10.0 uvb light bulb trie to keep it on a clamp a lil bit higher from the tank i heard if u keep it too close u can burn their eyes hope this helps
it says twitching of the legs can be a sign of impaction, i have a young bearded dragon 9 inches long and sometimes her back legs twitch, but she goes to the bathroom everyday so can anyone tell me if thats normal or should i be worried?
Wow. The pic at 4:40 you should have put before it: viewer discretion is advised..that was pretty messed up and it's very sad and heartbreaking to see a Bearded Dragon suffer like that. Other then this nice video, added to faves.
sorry for all the questions... i bought my gf a bearded dragon...and well in the beginning he let himself be hold and what not...and now a week later he runs away and hates being touched why is this? how can i domesticate him more? ps hes a baby so im feeding him mealworms and crickets...for fruits i tried gerber baby banana food is that good?
i love how you said not to feed them mealworms and then it shows a pic of your beardie eating them you are such a retard becuz half of this info is wrong
@DaCooKidMC You're a dumb ass. That picture was superworms, NOT mealworms. For the animal's sake, I surely hope you're not watching this because you want a beardie.
@snowballjet ok whatever kid and i actually have a beardie and i have had him for a long time i was just showing this to my cousin becuz he was thinking about getting one and i am not an expert on them so get a life instead of correcting peoples comments
@DaCooKidMC And that's the reason people with no proper knowledge should not own pets. Animals can live a long time sick or malnourished, so saying you've had your dragon for a long time means nothing. I surely hope you won't be the one teaching your cousin about bearded dragons then, let them search it themselves.. You obviously don't know enough to be teaching others about them.. You don't need to be an expert. I have a life, correcting idiots isn't a legitimate reason to assume otherwise.
@DaCooKidMC LMAO! I love how just because this account is where I upload videos of my horses, you think that's another valid reason I have no life? Not only do I have a life, but riding horses is part of it. So screw off if you're not going to respond to anything else I said.
@yugiohfan786 Depends, is your beardie an adult? Babies should be eating atleast 50 a day, and up from there.. Adults should be offered about 10-20 crickets every other day.
Look at it this way: Babies should be eating 75% bugs and 25% veggies, and adults should be eating 25% bugs and 75% veggies.
I disagree with a lot of her stuff...her feeding seems lame and I am not going to watch any of her video's based on other reaserch the stuff she say based on overall expierence is mostly wrong...although there are some good points in there.
@bazoozoo5 Can any of you idiots get it through your head?! She is saying that BABIES eat that many. Unlike adults, baby's diets should consist of atleast 75% bugs, and they will put away upwards of 100 crickets a day, and that is HEALTHY!
@MrLizards101 It depends what your setup is and if you have the right UVB light. Repti-sun 10.0 TUBE is one of the best UVB out there. Get that bulb and make sure your dragon can get about 8" away from it on one of his logs/elevated areas. Mine only ate around 10 crickets but switching to Repti-sun it started to eat wayyyy more. It also depends on the size of the cricket you're feeding. If you're feeding smaller crickets the dragon will obviously eat more.
hey you guys guess what you are the idiots all of what was said thier is true. good video and i did learn a couple new things im going to look iinto breeding pheniox worms now instead of meal. and momsturges go ahead and put sand in your tank i wont be the one that has to take your lizard to the rep. vet i had sand in there and i could see him eating sand with every cricket he ate... besides paper towel is way easier anyways
3) everyone's getting very defensive about this video because it's not what the pet stores said...... do some real research on some trusted sites online... not 13 year olds giving advice on youtube. This video is legit and I feel bad for all of you who are too ignorant to listen
1)baby dragons can eat 30+ crickets a day, with the right UVB source. Mine were only eating 10 a day until I switched to the Reptisun 10.0, now they are eating 30+ a day. 2) bearded dragons don't live on sand in the wild, they live on clay-like harder surfaces and NOT loose sand...... sand is a killer for baby bearded dragons
@MySirDave check out this video on substrates youtube.com/watch?v=ctfqhtNhKyQ I have just made a video on this exact thing. Someone bagged me for not having my young beardie on sand... but they should not be on sand until they are at least 12 months old in my opinion. and even then, a little clay and rock mixed in with that can not hurt.
This video is wonderful. I see a lot of negative comments but everything momsturges said in this video is correct. DO NOT listen to the advise by pet stores..... they usually don't know what they're talking about.
its like 5-10 live insects a day.. with a temperature at 90-100 degrees farenheit please if anyone is actually considering buying a bearded dragon dont watch this video.. its a shame this can even be put up. misinformed dumbass who thinks they know everything.
lol wtf 100 - 115C its ment to be between 80-90F not 100 - 115C and u shouldnt use reptile carpet it pulls there nails out and the cold blooded shop that i got my 2 beardies told me to feed them mealworms and crickets because the mealworms have a crunchy outside but a nice soft inside
i have a question: my beardie is like 6 - 8 wks old. 5 inches long. he doesnt chase crickets. he just igores them pretty much. he runs and plays and splashes in his water dish all day. he runs from me if i try to hold him, which is normal, but im concerned about his eating habits. I dont ever see him eat anything at all. I also put some of those bearded dragon food pellets in his food dish. And lastly, he sleeps on the floor of his tank. Its 95 warm side, 80 cool side. he sleeps wrm s
A. Calcium sand is fine, I've raised a lot of babies on it and none have died or had impaction
B. baby beardies should not consume 50-75 crickets a day, 10-20 small crickets a day is optimum and 5-10 is plenty.
C. Superworms: beardies dont have to be 16 inches to eat them..i start feeding beardies I breed superworms at 11 inches and have never had a single problem
D. Undercage heaters are fine and i highly reconmend them, I've used them for
whats wrong with sand they live on sand in the wild retard. i use calci sand and its fine and you dont have to dust your crickets if u use calci sand. and WTF 50-75 crickets a day, your retarded, im suprised ur beardies arnt dead!
@BeardedDragonFred guess what, your retarded! calci-sand?????!?!? you must have problems kid..your beardies are going to die in no time..you should never be allowed to have an animal for a pet again.
thanks for the video, helped me with a lot of things..but i still dont understand the 50-70 cricket a day thing, another video said feed crickets until they wont eat anymore..
no you are wrong you give babys 7 crickets at the most a day i have done my research and by giving them 50 to 75 crickets a day means your power feeding them it can mess up their growth proses and yes i do know this for a fact you can look it up get your facts straight before giving wrongful information
there are also a few breeds of bearded dragons there are (I think) the regular bearded dragons xD I donnow xD what I have and then there are German Giants and Sandfires xD also I donnow my breed of my beardie :P
@Bibushka66 mm it should be long as he doesnt ingest much of it!! ive had sand for my beardie for my beardie for the past two months and he regularaly licks it lol so its fine
I have now switched the sand to a old carpet what we don't need, you should do it too, because my had a impaction from the sand, so I had to make him a warm bath and now hes okay, I will never put sand in it again! he wasn't eating he was just laying under his lamp the Whole day.. and now hes active and playfully
@Bibushka66 orite kk i dunno mines been fine...so..far lol like ill not bother with carpet or anything yet and make sure theres no loose fibers on the carpet..ive read somewhere that can harm them though i dunno if thats even true lol
this is bullshit u dont feed a baby beardy 50 to 70 crickets your over feeding it a ur puting it at risk of real impaction and u can pu a full grown beardy in sand it can take miled impaction and meal worm r fine for for baby beardies if u have a basking spot of 100 to 105 u can use stick on thermometers form the pet store those r fine
If you wanna use a substrate, a 50/50 mixture of sand/soil holds up better to burrowing. Low temps and dehydration (glass tanks with open screen tops are jerky machines) will make it harder for a dragon to pass substrate. I'm sure wild dragons almost always get substrate in their mouths when eating prey. IMO, impaction is mostly caused by not having to high enough basking temps and low humidity.
your an idiot, if you feed a baby dragon 50-70 crickets a day you will be overfeeding them and thats called power feeding and that is very dangerous towards a dragons long term health and is not recomended at all
@MySirDave yh, thats cleared things up alot more ! i did not know weather to dust the crickets 5 times a week with calcium or multivitamin. because i knew yo can overdose
@tombrady56 So how many crickets are reccomended? I am curious because I am thinking on buying one and I herd numbers between 10 to 100. And how much money do you need to spen to pay for feeding?
@tombrady56 SHE'S the idiot? Have you EVER researched bearded dragons? Babies need all the protein that they can get, and if that means feeding 150 appropriate sized feeders a day, it does. You feed a baby dragon until it's done eating, 2-3 times a day, not until you decide it's done eating. In NO way is feeding a baby lots of crickets dangerous.
I can't believe all the thumbs up you got.. I feel bad for all of the beardies with ignorant owners like you!
if u use tiles and not anything loose it will be bad for them because they will have bent toes and overgrown nails and when u handle them u can get salmonella from injuries... sand s the best.
you dont know what your talking about lmao sand can kill the dragon and tiles are fine. and also you have a better chance of catching salmonella from bad food then catching it from a reptile
uv lights have nothing to do with impaction impaction is the packing and then infection of food caught in the lower jaw area in the "beard" blockage is the term you want to use
it sounds like she is trying to regurgitate something...perhaps a vegetable or insect that was too large. If you can't carefully get it out yourself, get her to a reptile vet immediately.
yep problobly the food is too large NOOOOO its not ive seen babies injest pinkies and live long happy full lives well for instance mine just take it to the vet and see what it is
One thing I find funny about my beardie is that he does not lunge at the cricket to eat it, he sticks his tougue out like a frog and the cricket sticks to his tongue and he eats it. Just something random I though I should share!
@momsturges bollocks..when there young there little stomachs cudnt handle that mine onli eats 12-14 a day max and he doesnt bother with anymore! and so many people use sand sure thwy live in aussie!
haha you would over feed the bearded dragon with 50-75 crickets per day!! it would die in seconds! They can only have max. 10 crickets per day when they are babies they haven't got as much big stomaches as the adults
@momsturges ur talking about the little ones then yeah u are correct. But I use very large plain wood chips for my beardie not once has he eaten it. And i feed him crickets outside the viv.
@playstionrules03 I agree man. The person who made this video obviously does not own a beardie and is flogging his website. Hey nothing wrong with that... but at least get your facts right dude.. 75 crickets??? that is just silly man.
@playstionrules03 I agree man. The person who made this video obviously has his facts wrong. Hey nothing wrong with that... but at least get your facts right dude.. 75 crickets??? that is just silly man.

you can have sand, but a lot of owners have ended up with a sick or dead beardie from sand ingestion, they can tell it in the autopsy, clumps of sand, hardened in the intestines, causing a fatal blockage.
@momsturges And how much do you want to bet that the sand that was used (and thus caused the impaction) was either playground sand/construction sand, and NOT proper sand sold for specific use of desert reptiles.
"Derrrr, my petstore sells a bag of sand for 25 bucks, but I can get sand at a hardware store for less then half.
Oh noes, now my lizard is dead. IT MUST BE BECAUSE SAND IS DANGEROUS!"
you ar rong! they feed meal worms obeaded dragons in per stoers

whats wrong with sand they live on sand in the wild retard. i use calci sand and its fine and you dont have to dust your crickets if u use calci sand. and WTF 50-75 crickets a day, your retarded, im suprised ur beardies arnt dead!
BeardedDragonFred 1 year ago
@BeardedDragonFred guess what, your retarded! calci-sand?????!?!? you must have problems kid..your beardies are going to die in no time..you should never be allowed to have an animal for a pet again.
MrGooseMuffin 1 year ago
your so wrong i went on beautiful dragons.com and it said 50%-75% not 50 -75 crickets
kevin61080 1 year ago
thanks for the video, helped me with a lot of things..but i still dont understand the 50-70 cricket a day thing, another video said feed crickets until they wont eat anymore..

Can u feed a beardie betles?
MrRavekid 1 year ago
also i hope you know superworms are the same as mealworms but the can bite and hurt your beardy
slimlyphat 1 year ago
no you are wrong you give babys 7 crickets at the most a day i have done my research and by giving them 50 to 75 crickets a day means your power feeding them it can mess up their growth proses and yes i do know this for a fact you can look it up get your facts straight before giving wrongful information
slimlyphat 1 year ago
nothing wrong with sand, my beardie has been in sand for a long time and nothing is wrong with him, you dont get repti carpet out in the wild.
bigmoeshouse 1 year ago
there are also a few breeds of bearded dragons there are (I think) the regular bearded dragons xD I donnow xD what I have and then there are German Giants and Sandfires xD also I donnow my breed of my beardie :P
Bibushka66 1 year ago
I have I think Play sand for my baby bearded dragon is this Okay?
Bibushka66 1 year ago
@Bibushka66 mm it should be long as he doesnt ingest much of it!! ive had sand for my beardie for my beardie for the past two months and he regularaly licks it lol so its fine
filipeguitar16 1 year ago
@filipeguitar16
I have now switched the sand to a old carpet what we don't need, you should do it too, because my had a impaction from the sand, so I had to make him a warm bath and now hes okay, I will never put sand in it again! he wasn't eating he was just laying under his lamp the Whole day.. and now hes active and playfully
Bibushka66 1 year ago
@Bibushka66 orite kk i dunno mines been fine...so..far lol like ill not bother with carpet or anything yet and make sure theres no loose fibers on the carpet..ive read somewhere that can harm them though i dunno if thats even true lol
filipeguitar16 1 year ago
@filipeguitar16
you should really change it, because he licks sand when you don't see it he easily gets an impaction and can die
Bibushka66 1 year ago
this is bullshit u dont feed a baby beardy 50 to 70 crickets your over feeding it a ur puting it at risk of real impaction and u can pu a full grown beardy in sand it can take miled impaction and meal worm r fine for for baby beardies if u have a basking spot of 100 to 105 u can use stick on thermometers form the pet store those r fine
agcalifilms 1 year ago
no wonder my bearded dragon never eats the meal worms i bought him100 mealworms n he never ate them

not good vet time!!!
agcalifilms 1 year ago
If you wanna use a substrate, a 50/50 mixture of sand/soil holds up better to burrowing. Low temps and dehydration (glass tanks with open screen tops are jerky machines) will make it harder for a dragon to pass substrate. I'm sure wild dragons almost always get substrate in their mouths when eating prey. IMO, impaction is mostly caused by not having to high enough basking temps and low humidity.

your an idiot, if you feed a baby dragon 50-70 crickets a day you will be overfeeding them and thats called power feeding and that is very dangerous towards a dragons long term health and is not recomended at all
tombrady56 2 years ago 19
@tombrady56 im going to get one but ONLY when i have all the knowledge to go with it. so
How many crickets a day should i feed a baby bearded dragon ?
What vitmins, minerals, calcium should i give a baby bearded dragon ?,how often ? and how ?
And what should i feed the crickets, meal worms ( gut loading ) ?
Thank you :)
Qwalkson 11 months ago
@Qwalkson Feed your dragon as many crickets as it can eat within a 10 minute period, twice a day
(this usually adds up to between 20-30 crickets, could be more or less depending on cricket size)
dust crickets with calcium 5 times a week and multivitamin 2 times a week, stay off meal worms until dragons gets a little bigger! good luck!!!
MySirDave 11 months ago
@MySirDave yh, thats cleared things up alot more ! i did not know weather to dust the crickets 5 times a week with calcium or multivitamin. because i knew yo can overdose
Thank you :)
Qwalkson 11 months ago
@tombrady56 So how many crickets are reccomended? I am curious because I am thinking on buying one and I herd numbers between 10 to 100. And how much money do you need to spen to pay for feeding?
Austin76711 9 months ago
@tombrady56 SHE'S the idiot? Have you EVER researched bearded dragons? Babies need all the protein that they can get, and if that means feeding 150 appropriate sized feeders a day, it does. You feed a baby dragon until it's done eating, 2-3 times a day, not until you decide it's done eating. In NO way is feeding a baby lots of crickets dangerous.
I can't believe all the thumbs up you got.. I feel bad for all of the beardies with ignorant owners like you!

if u use tiles and not anything loose it will be bad for them because they will have bent toes and overgrown nails and when u handle them u can get salmonella from injuries... sand s the best.
beardiedude 2 years ago 2
you dont know what your talking about lmao sand can kill the dragon and tiles are fine. and also you have a better chance of catching salmonella from bad food then catching it from a reptile
biglarry345 2 years ago
wait so can newspaper be used for my baby beadie im using it now
HillSideSureno13 2 years ago
yes it can
agcalifilms 1 year ago
yup i agree with you sand as a stubstrate but feed it in another contain :)
TheMightyMuMbY 2 years ago
Very nice! The only thing I would change is to mention the importance of UV lights when talking about impaction.
kittykitty0204 3 years ago
uv lights have nothing to do with impaction impaction is the packing and then infection of food caught in the lower jaw area in the "beard" blockage is the term you want to use
foxwright 3 years ago
you should get locusts coz they fill the bearded dragon up more so you will only have to give 5-7 a day when young
Abirra1234 3 years ago
hi, my beardeddragon looks like she is trying to get something out of her throght
she might just be hiccupng
do you know what it is
coindudebob 3 years ago
it sounds like she is trying to regurgitate something...perhaps a vegetable or insect that was too large. If you can't carefully get it out yourself, get her to a reptile vet immediately.
kittykitty0204 3 years ago
yep problobly the food is too large NOOOOO its not ive seen babies injest pinkies and live long happy full lives well for instance mine just take it to the vet and see what it is

One thing I find funny about my beardie is that he does not lunge at the cricket to eat it, he sticks his tougue out like a frog and the cricket sticks to his tongue and he eats it. Just something random I though I should share!

50 to 75 crickets a day! no way its like 4-6
playstionrules03 3 years ago 7
Yes, 50-75 crickets per day when they are young. Look up your info on proper bearded dragon care.

filipeguitar16 1 year ago
@momsturges
haha you would over feed the bearded dragon with 50-75 crickets per day!! it would die in seconds! They can only have max. 10 crickets per day when they are babies they haven't got as much big stomaches as the adults
Bibushka66 1 year ago
@momsturges ur talking about the little ones then yeah u are correct. But I use very large plain wood chips for my beardie not once has he eaten it. And i feed him crickets outside the viv.

you can have sand they live in austrailia dum ass
bordercolliefreak73 3 years ago
you can have sand, but a lot of owners have ended up with a sick or dead beardie from sand ingestion, they can tell it in the autopsy, clumps of sand, hardened in the intestines, causing a fatal blockage.
momsturges 3 years ago 3
@momsturges is it ok to have sand in their display cage if they are being fed in an empty rubbermaid box?
DrSlipperFace 1 year ago
@momsturges And how much do you want to bet that the sand that was used (and thus caused the impaction) was either playground sand/construction sand, and NOT proper sand sold for specific use of desert reptiles.
"Derrrr, my petstore sells a bag of sand for 25 bucks, but I can get sand at a hardware store for less then half.
Oh noes, now my lizard is dead. IT MUST BE BECAUSE SAND IS DANGEROUS!"
