@MrAnimationluvr No not on this line. But there are steam hauled railtours on most weekends in various parts of the country. Many of them in the north of England. You can find out times etc from a web site called: UK steam info.
this section of line is the section from Frodsham to Runcorn - is used by saturday only trains generally Llandudno / Chester to Runcorn / Liverpool in that direction only!!! This location is at the crossing bridge over the M 56 at Beechwood.
I used to walk four miles to a tiny station on the ECML called Markinch. There was an old engine shed next to the station which was always locked. On one occasion two men emerged from said engine shed and left for their lunch. The door was shut but not locked and being a child I couldn't resist a look. I can't describe my feelings when I opened the door, to flood the shed with sunlight and reveal an A4 "The Union of South Africa". Even now I wonder if I imagined it all.
Magic, ilove steam locos. It's amazing the amount that have survived and the stories behind some of them especially 71000 Duke of Gloucester. And of course the work that the people involved have put in.
is that liverpool limestreet when it was backing out
