I don't think they're going to get rid of the 13" Macbook Pro... it's their highest selling model. I think they're going to combine the 13" Macbook Air with the 13" Macbook Pro since they'll essentially be the same thing sleekness-wise, and just add them all to the same Pro line.

In any case, the new 15/17" will probably be lighter than the 13" is now...

Remember people who like CD drives...You can share the CD/DVD drive from one of your Macs to the rest of them if need be. Second, consider the size vs storage when it comes to CD drives. The amount of storage you get from a CD drive is not worth the amount of space they take up. In my opinion, they should move all software on to Flash drives from now on.

Personally, I don’t think Apple would really make the Macbook Pros much thinner, because if they do, then that’s taking away what makes the Macbook Airs special. Apple already completely stopped selling the white Macbook. If the Pros are designed just like the Airs, but more powerful, then who would want an Air anymore? If no one buys the Airs anymore, then they would likely stop being sold and that would leave Apple with only one laptop to sell, the Macbook Pro.

Guys who are pissed at cd drive, the story is:

Apple is adding a 15 inch model to the Macbook Air line up. Without an optical drive.

Also rumours are apple is going to redesign the Macbook Pro line up to a new design, slim, high resolution display with Ivy Bridge. Hence the external Displays also going to boost the resolution, since the Ivy Bridge architecture allows 4XXX resolution support.

All these are according to leaked Intel Roadmap, coming around March/April/May due to Ivy Bridge delay.

Also 3.0 USB config is a must it seems under Ivy bridge, so most likely we are going to see a 3.0 USB ports along with thunderbolt in the new generation of Macbooks. Also Apple may switch back to Nvidia Graphics for the new models.

Oh yea that's right the macbook pro has hit the redesign year !!! The only reason why I don't want ssd is because that will mean they will jack up the prices ! And I gotta say I don't think Apple will lose the cd drive and if I had to think of a processor that Apple will go with I would think they would throw in some of those amd llano chips they recently threw in HP's laptops, it gives amazing battery life which Apple could use to get back to that 9-10 hr battery life mark prob even higher !!
