  • I have seen some amature glitter on here and this has to be the best one ive ever seen almost pro like..

  • i gotta say, this is very nicely done

  • what is your ratio bp grass seed ?

  • @hexamine2012 no ratio in particular, I coat them twice letting the first coat dry a few hours before adding the second, I'd say 4 or 5 to 1 ratio is approximate. Basicly as much as they will hold in 2 coats of fast BP. hope that helps

  • @Swervedriver71 thanks , because i have a problem with break..

  • i can honestly say , that is the best C6 effect i have ever seen performed. bravo

  • @jsmithmilitary hey thank you bud

  • Perfect shell great job

  • @plasm7 thanks bud :)

  • beautiful, nice job !! wut stars did u use?

  • PERFECT BREAK, too bad it didnt last very long

  • One thing I never understood is how people's shells get to be so heavy. I recently made a 3" plastic ball shell that was packed with rough pulverone and stars, weighed only 75 grams. Of course, that is without a comet, but your's was more than twice the weight!

  • Hmm, that is a big difference. I don't know why. That weight is without lift charge. All my 3" shells are 145g or more. If you can get a good effect with less weight, great! Less lift needed, chems, etc..

  • It is interesting...I've noticed that most people's shells end up heavier than mine...despite the fact that I'm packing them up with pulverone...which should be heavier than BP on grass seed or hulls. Maybe my plastic hemis are "extra light" or something.

  • @flyingfish555

Do you paste your shells? It's quite a difference if you only solvent bond them... But it shouldn't be that much of a difference that way either...

  • No, I do not usually paste my plastic shells. But as you say, still doesn't add up! I'll figure it out one of these days...

  • @flyingfish555

Hmm...One thing that's even odder, is that I made my first 2" canshell for NYE, and it weighted 145g without lift... I did use green mix / whistle break and double spiking though...

  • perfect break

  • that had a really really nice tail on it, was it a TT tail? single pumped comet of multiple stars?

  • Thanks, that was a C6 pumped comet, 3/4" size. Burns much faster and brighter than TT.

  • Hey swerve, what kind of charcoal are you using in your streamers? I've been using bought hardwood charcoal that I've hand crushed. It tends to leave a bit more sparks behind which really bothers me. Does this happen with your streamers? Or is it just not visible from the video.

  • It depends. These stars are ballmilled, there isn't any larger mesh charcoal sparks. It's all airfloat so it burns fast and smooth in these. other comps I like to have the lingering sparks, so I'll mix in a percentage of larger unmilled mesh charcoal like you're doing.

  • I mill all my comps..I didn't make that clear. I'll try out a faster comp like C6 or something even faster. Thanks.

  • Aaah, ok, try different charcoal. This one used a more reactive charcoal, not commercial hardwood. Homecooked spruce or pine in this one...

  • Aha? it seems to work very well i see!! i've never done plastic before soo .. :) I've got a few 3" paper and 4" paper left, but it might be worth a shot to get some platic next time:) Will plastic shell's just have to be pasted with regular kraft then? or do you have to use something else?

May i ask what you use a a delay on the shell? Is it time-fuse or spolettes or regular fuse?

  • These 3" hemis use 1/8" chinese visco wrapped with 1" masking tape for timing. The 1" strip of tape width is just about perfect timing for this 1/8" fuse. No, I don't paste these shells, but they are wrapped with high tensile strapping tape in 4 rings, like evenly spaced "equators". With a good boost, no tape is even needed.

  • Damn .. nice !:) Do you prefer plastic to paper?

  • Thanks! well, I've never done paper hemis before, so I can't say either way

  • how do u give it such a great tail?

  • The tail is a large comet glued to the shell that burns on the way up. That comet was made from the same composition as the stars, chrysanthemum 6...

  • May I have your star formula? Beautiful!

  • woops, better late than never. Just paste this in google for more info-

    shimizu chrysanthemum #6

  • What was the size of the stars? Were they rolled / cut / pumped?

  • hey spark, those were 3/8" cut stars...

  • ελληνας?

  • awesome shell 5 mate

  • very nice *

  • very nice :D 5*

  • Sweet bright C6. I have such a 3'' shell ready for launch. Can't wait to see the outcome :)

  • Post a vid!

  • It still waits there together with many others.

I am preparing for a pyro-picnic probably next week. Then several videos will follow.

  • nice shell, maybe C8 would do better as it burns longer than C6?

    5*

  • yep, I've since made some tigertail mix. the c6 is brighter orange, the tt has a longer burn and much more firedust, but not as bright. thanks

  • sorry but what does chrysanthemum mean?

  • Well, a chrysanthemum break is a shperical break of "tailed" stars. "Chysanthemum 6" is a tailed star composition by Shimizu.

  • WOOOOOOOOW that was nice almost looked lik c8 .10/5 *

  • Thanks. Haven't tried the c8 yet!

  • Good!

  • Nice shel !!!
