I need help balancing ive been at it for.hours and cant get close I have a cannon t3i with the f1.8.canon lens I dont know the cakeras weight or anything and I cant do that thing where the stabilizer is horizontal & spins
DSLR's can be a little tricky initially. We would be happy to walk you through the initial setup, simply send us an email to our CustomerSupport address found on the "About Us" page of our website to get started.
Judging by the online specs for the camera it should work. Balance will vary a little depending on which lens is used, but from the looks of it they took the center of gravity in to consideration when placing the mounting threads.
The stock MiniDV Stabilizer requires no tools to install and balance your camera.
If the 3" Extension Kit is required a pair of pliers and a Phillips head screw driver is needed for the initial install, and the Off-Set plate if needed requires a coin or flat head screw driver to attach the plate to the camera.
Also when I put my t2i on the off set plate, the off set plate won't connect to the top part of the stabilizer because of that screw with the twister..any suggestion because I really want to keep this
On the bottom of the off-set plate you will find a hole smaller than the other four. This hole is threaded to accept the longer bolt/wingnut supplied with the stabilizer. Start by attaching the off-set to your camera using the slot head bolt. Then attach the off-set to the stabilizer top plate using the longer bolt/wingnut. From there you can rotate/slide the camera/off-set, plus use the sliding adjustment of the stabilizer.
If your camera is below 1 pound additional weight needs to be added to the top of the stabilizer to bring the camera up to the 1 pound minimum. A quick release mounting plate for the camera is a great way to get the extra weight needed and makes removing/attaching the camera a breeze.
can u guys pleaase make a updated version off this ?
its pretty obvious that most of the people who are filming these days are using a dslr camera! im using the 600d and ive been struggling all night to balance it, it dosent some to come of right at all!
The same basic principles apply with any camera style. The main issue DSLR users will experience is the weight of the lens making the camera front heavy. We have added a link to the video description with an alternative way to balance the unit with a DSLR.
@chance1234567890 It really depends on which camera/lens you are using. Check out our handy product selector to find the package right for you. Simply fill out the required information and it will guide you to the products you need to make it work. You can find the link at the bottom of the Video Info above^^
@Macsgrafs Any videos on YouTube that deal with what you're talking about? How much would a RC controlled helicopter cost? Bet they're really expensive but that would be cool.
Hey bro i ordered the MiniDV stabilizer about a week ago, but i didnt realize i needed the 3 in extension kit since i have a dslr camera and lenses throw off its center of gravity. but it seems you guys dont have any at this time. When do you think you'll get 'em in stock again.? Thanks in Advance.
Flycam is not cheaper. Flycam is about 140, and this is only 95. I wish someone would do a head to head comparison of flycam nano versus the Balvanz MiniDV
We are aware of the paint issues some have experienced and are working to improve the adhesion of the paint. The paint we use is a relatively new environmentally friendly(zero VOC) water based paint which has required some tweaking of the preparation and application process. Sadly, it's far from cheap at $82 a gallon.
The HFS100 is barely below the low end of the weight range(0.1oz under to be exact). If you happen to have an extended life battery or any accessories than it should work just fine. I'd also recommend checking to see if the cameras mounting threads are near the center of gravity by balancing it on your finger as demonstrated on the tutorial video. If it's off by more than about a 1/2" the Camera Off-Set Plate will be needed and would add an additional 2oz.
@BalvanzEnterprises i have a wide angle lens and plugin mic that rests on top. the mounting threads are places off center. doesnt the pro come with accessory ill need?
Yes, as long as the overall weight of your unit(camera, lens and mic) is below 3.5 pounds the MiniDV Stabilizer Pro will include everything you will need. I simply recommended checking as the weight of your camera alone falls within range of the standard MiniDV Stabilizer.
Hey! I want to offer you Xshot 2.0 only for 30$. It's very handy gadget and easy to use. Check it out maybe you'll like it and will decide to buy it. I realy recomend it to you because I have one.
yeah I use it with my minidv stabilizer. but you may need to get the extra offset plate because the 550d's lens makes it really heavy in the front and almost impossible to balance.
I have a Canon Hf200 and the mounting screw on the camera is not in the centre which means I can't mount the camera onto the steadicam correctly with the appropriate centre of gravity. How can I fix this?
For unbalanced cameras we offer the Universal Off-Set Plate. It gives you up to 2 1/2" of additional travel in any direction, making it possible to line up the camera's center of gravity with the center shaft of the MiniDV Stabilizer.
i am so impressed with this experiment that you did with it , which was perfect now i want to ask you should i get the Glidecam 2000 PRO Camcorder Stabilizing System - Supports upto 6 lbs or should i get the Merlin Camera Stabilizing System - with Metal Gimbal, for Small Camcorders? which is more expensive
@JohnnyJizzFace It is possible to use the Stabilizer with some of the smaller DSLR cameras. We highly recommend our Off-Set plate if you do intend on using a DSLR as the heavy glass lenses tend to make them very front heavy. The additional travel will be needed to balance the stabilizer correctly. It's best to check the weight of your setup with all accessories you plan on using before ordering. Currently the maximum the MiniDV Stabilizer can support is 3.5pounds with the new 3" extension kit.
with the 3" extension kit for this thing, you can increase the total weight limit to 3.5 pounds. That's a lot of weight. (I think it could go even higher with the proper counter balancing)

LOL! Your comment made me laugh XD Why bother caring about me not liking the voice? And no, I do not work in any department of YouTube!
I don't wanna fall asleep watching a tutorial, how could this be an award winning voice? Its Boring as Fuck, making the video Boring. Theres no way this video is going to win an award, you need to have good Audio aswell, get the Fuck off this video, this is about professionalism, and you think I'm in the wrong for hating on the audio?
After three long years of use, we did receive word from Tiffen, the owners of the STEADICAM® trademark, regarding the use of "Steadycam". At the time that we selected the steadycam name to be used, several other companies had already been using it to reference their products. I'm sure many would agree(including Hollywood) that the STEADICAM® name has become some what generic when describing this type of device. A good case could be made to challange this request.
However, we decided out of respect to Tiffen and Garrett Brown, the inventor of the original STEADICAM®, that we would change the name. I agree that the orginal narrator was much better then I. But sadly, he was far too busy to take on the project at short notice. This version is merely for instructional purposes, and to keep our name out there. It's still the same great product, we're just using a different name.
We have found that placing a locknut under the gimbal relieves the pressure placed on the main bearing. By doing this, it improves the rotation of the main bearing and reduces any unwanted panning induced by handle rotation. This FREE upgrade will be available as soon as we get a bulk order in of the new lock nuts. We will be posting information on how you can get the FREE upgrade on our website.
We also have the prototype of the quick release mount finished and in testing right now. This will allow for thumb screw camera positioning and quick detach abilities. The camera mounting plate will also feature 1/4" mounting threads for quick tripod attachment without removing the plate. We also plan on making it compatible with other low cost STEADICAM® style stabilizers using the standard 1/4" mounting threads. We hope to have this available later this year.
Valuable info, but the quality of audio comment is RUBBISH. You can barly understand the words.
