Thank you for answering, and yes, it has been said in some forums that he might be suffering from loss of inspiration, which of course, has been denied officially. =)
I completely agree with the guy under me. If they're going to pump out tunes like "Radio", then man, I am all ears. It took me awhile to realize to not give a shit who's in the band, they still have that magic. It's not 1996 anymore. Stuart Zender (God bless him) is not coming back. It's been that way for [almost] ten years now. Get used to it.
let's get it on lisuc-o... love like a loaded gun, let's have some fun.. Let's make a supernova, let's get it on the radio.... That means we'd be cool... I hope to see you and love you if you'd let yourself be loved, I respect you too much no to love you with all my heart Muuah. sensible hugs ^L~
It's too bad he tries to sing with such a high voice the past years. It really isn't nice to hear. He tries too hard. If his voice isn't working properly anymore, than he should adapt to it, and not to try forcing it.
I honestly don't know why people knock on Paul Turner so much. He's such a great bass player, and he has a beautiful sound. He kicks SO much ass in this video and well, everything else I've seen him in.
He's a fabulouos bass player, I dont think people are dissing him , I just think people or the real hard core fans of Jamiroquai are having a hard time adjusting to Staurt Zender not being there. Im sure with time they all will accept Paul. :o) just my opinion.
it's really hard to substitute stuart zender, but we can't say that paul doesn't have the groove.. his "fault" is just to be arrived after the man, stuart zender. but i like him the same :D
agree with sandy.. it's really hard to substitute stuart zender. but we shouldn't blame him for this reason. he's a good bassist and he has the groove..
im pretty shure thats a fender bass! And if u want that sound, buy thin strings, play slap bass and you got that sound! Just tune the right settings on your amp ;)
The original Music Man was made by Fender, correct? I know my basses! Crap I dont even play one!! LMAO! But that particular bass just happenes to be my absolute favorite one of them all! You just cant beat that tone and sound! Thanks for the advise! :o)
Gawd, these guys are so freakin talented. Please come to San Francisco again, saw you guys a few years back and it WAS ONE OF THE BEST shows Ive EVER seen live!
It looks like he's going to pass out from those spanish cigarettes! Jay, do the people who love you, your voice, style and band a favor and quit smoking so much!!!
5 more years and he's not gonna be able to sing at all. his range is already majorly screwed..down from maybe 3 octaves in '93 to like 6 good notes now. sucks.
Aye. It's not still on that point where it would bother me, but theres difference from early ones and with this rate it wont probaly get better at least =/
As talented as he is, Jay is stubborn. If he quits anything, it will be cigarettes but probably never Mary J. He definitely loves the Mary J. At the same time, he is physically very active and gets a workout at every gig, he's doesn't have a weight problem, and he drinks tons of water. But yeah, if he quit smoking, he would be surprised at what good that would do him.
You know I always wondered about Radio whether she had another guy or another girl in the bed with him, but now that I see him performing it, I came to the determination that he was really watching a bisexual adult film and living vicariously through it while smoking marijuana.
And that is what I got out of the song the first time I heard it, but he still leaves several unanswered questions in the song, such as the origin of the other person. As shocking as it sounds, though, the first time I heard the song, I thought "making love to me in stereo" was a good thing, until i hit repeat on my CD player.
I don't know if the horn section was really present in this gig. But if the horn section is not here then this performance sounds better, not the best.
perfect acid jazz!

What about his voice???
lilithbathory7 3 years ago
you can tell he's really straining his voice. he sounds dry and nasty.
at :29 his voice drops out and at :45 he goes out of tune.
I really love JK but he fucks it up bigtime here.

I hate making comments like this but I can't help. This bass player really knows how to lay down a groove, but he's not nearly as tight as Nick Fyffe
funk7000 4 years ago
I think opposite !!! I mean this guy is definitely good enough.

1. Stuart Zender
2. Paul Turner
3. Nick Fyffe
watch the montreux jazz festival DVD, its a shocker for Nick Fyffe.
Zender all the way! Peace.
