@HATINGcuzYOURjealous Best place is to wiki it. In very short and basic terms vtec was designed to give drivability without sacrificing high rpm performance (or vise versa). Essentially it has a third cam lobe giving higher lift and longer duration, that after a certain rpm it switches over to to allow the engine to open up and breathe at high rpm. The vtec itself makes no sound, its just the sound the engine makes with a "larger" camshaft.

Its usually marked where the engine starts to loose power at high revs and is normally a few hundred rpm before the rev limiter which is a fuel and or ignition cut.. Thats the bap bap bap bap bap you hear sometimes. I think a lot of youtube expert-mechanics have made it something when it really isnt, and when people refer to it are more often than not are referring to the revlimit.
